Marriage - Why bother?

yet another friend's marriage has broken down(5th), this one i did not predict at all.

it came as a shock to me.

they got married after 10 years of living together so it's not like they didn't know each other.

Trouble is the way the laws are today..no marriage..no benefits!

I can't in my own mind see anyone being truly commited without marriage..

The government doesn't (Usually) recognize common law marriage these days.

I just don't see any benefits to "Playing House"..why?

If you love someone..even have children..and yet you can't commit to marriage?

Doesn't make sense to me..

To me..marriage was for life....

Snoozy..married for 45 years to same guy..wasn't easy..but that's part of maturity..making it work!

No sex in NS.

i have been a jw all of my life and i have never heard anyone say anything about not having sex in the ns.

did the wtbs ever actually say that?

or is a bit of wittness folklore?

I remember my JW hubby telling me that if I didn't "come back into the truth"..and was destroyed..god would give him a new wife!..And make him forget about me.

Wasn't that a loving thing to say?

Course I already knew that from having been a witness before.

Didn't exactly make me want to go back..it was a hateful group that used the bible to hurt people.

They could take it out of context and use it to hurt people..didn't need a religion like that.

I know that death ends a marriage but I still feel married..like hubby is on a trip somewhere and hasn't come home yet...

Oh yeah...now that he has died..he can't remarry..the irony of it all...

Funny thing is..I almost wish he could have..I wanted him to be happy no matter where he is.

She has cancer. What about her job?

my son's wife was diagnosed today with lung cancer.

it wasn't a big surprise to anyone, including her.

until now, this 44 year old was a lifetime smoker.

My husband NEVER smoked. He learned he had lung cancer and 5 months later he died!

I miss him terribly!

They could have treated him successfully if it hadn't spread so fast to his liver.The chemo was shrinking the tumor in his lung but they can't treat the liver so easily.

His was the most aggressive kind there was.

Hopefully they can help her...I wish them the best.

Sicker than a dog last night - info needed

when i get sick it is rarely very bad.

i have a pretty strong stomach and can only recall twice when i was so sick to have my head hanging over the toilet.

once when i got food poisoning and when my appendix almost burst.

I just read Hellrider is sick also..must be a BAD bug going around!

Think I will hibernate for a while..

Stomach Flu

...i`ve had it for two days now.

something my son brought home from kindergarten.

i`ve never had those stomach flus ever since i was a kid.

Poor baby!

That's the downside of having small children...they bring nasty things like that home...ugh!

Even worse is if you have more than one child and they decide to take turns..one sick..get's better..next one sick..gets better..then the parents get sick while the third one is sick..

I had three kids..took 2 months for the mumps to disappear from the house!..really....

They each only had one at a time..then the next few days they got one on the other side..bummer.

For the nausea..I usually ended up getting the Dr to prescribe suppositories. It stopped the throwing up.But they have a lot of stuff at the drug store now for that.

Hope all is well real soon.

well..i have a computer now... my son (42) just received an e amil from one of his and my deceased hubby's old model airplane club's buddies... i pulled it up and just started bawling... hubby got sick so fast he didn't have time to finish building a model airplane for one of the guys in the club.

so one of the guys in the club bought all hubby's equipment and airplanes and trailer to haul them in.

(big planes).

well..i have a computer now... my son (42) just received an e amil from one of his and my deceased hubby's old model airplane club's buddies... i pulled it up and just started bawling... hubby got sick so fast he didn't have time to finish building a model airplane for one of the guys in the club.

so one of the guys in the club bought all hubby's equipment and airplanes and trailer to haul them in.

(big planes).

so one of the guys in the club bought all hubby's equipment and airplanes and trailer to haul them in.

Thank you all..I'm still trying to figure out how to post the picture. I actually come here all the time..but as Golden Girl..I just signned on thinking my screen name here was the same as other boards ..Snoozy..and it took..so I guess I will keep using it so I will be consistent!..

I posted this because I came here a lot when hubby was diagnosed and all through his treatment and death..a short 5 months..that was 3 years ago Feb. 5...so it hit me pretty hard.

I was just so happy to hear from one of his friends..It warmed my heart..almost like hubby was saying HI!...

Well he just sent my son a E mail and included a picture of the finished airplane.My son forwarded it to me.

.The kicker was printed on the tail ....." In memory of Bill ****(Last name). It was so heart warming to have someone remember!...And yet it was so sad to remember all the fun we had with the club and the guys.It's all gone now. I am crying as I write this ..just had to share and my heart goes out to other's on the board that has lost loved ones...

If I can figure out how I will put it on the computer..
