here is the deal, and some of you probably already know my oven conked 2 days ago.
the top works but the interior does not.. i have ordered a spiral ham, i have great bean recipe for stove top, and coleslaw......but i need other side dishes that can be heated or cooked either on the grill or stove top...... i'm desperate.....do you have anything?
i can't bake/broil.
Do you have a microwave?
I always make my potatoes ahead of time and warm them up in the micr. I just add butter ..a little milk and whip with a fork..yummy!
Also..you can bake sweetpotatoes in the microwave then slice them and put them in a frypan and melt brown sugar and dabs of butter or marshmellows on them.
I wouldn't know how to brown the crusts for a cream pie or the topping....any suggestions anyone?
I wonder if a BBQ grill would work to brown the shells?

well, towards the end of 2007, my life is really basically very good !
i have a lot to be thankful for, a wonderful wife , great son , a good place to live in the mountains , and great animals on our property , a peaceful life .
just one big void still there in my life , my jw daughters have frozen me out of their lives .
My children and I left the JW religion about the same time..we just slowly stopped going to the meetings. The kids were in their late teens and starting a life of their own. Getting jobs..cars..their own place to live..so I had no problem there. The problem is now..I am just starting to realize the anger they feel towards me for so called ruining their childhood! All that they had to endure being JW's at school..not allowed to associate with the worldly kids...and all that goes with being a JW as a child. The nightmares they had that I never knew about..falling in a firey pit if they were bad..Demons...I can't believe some of the things that went through their minds at such tender ages. I have told them how sorry I was but nothing can take their pain away. When you are raised to believe a certain way it is hard for them to let go. Even if mom says it's OK.
That is something I will have to live with the rest of my life..the guilt.Not being strong enough to say..this can not be the "Truth"...when I first started having doubts. I could have spared them a lot of pain. They have no contact with their witness relatives..they miss them but have no desire to hear the JW language..
And because they were raised as a JW they never knew their "worldly relatives.". They were taught by their JW relatives that the worldly relatives were bad!. All the worldly relatives were all on my side of the family..so that made my side "bad". Something that angers me to this day. They missed out on some pretty amazing relatives which of many are dead now.
They are all happy now..satisfied with their lives..but you can tell when talking about certain subjects they still harbor some resentment.

sunday of last week started off as a clear day.
Wow you bring back memories...I few years ago I saw an article in our paper ...a very tiny article and hidden in a section that wasn't too popular..about how the government had sprayed a chemical over a few blocks in our city.(St Louis) It showed a map of the area they had sprayed..it had been an experiment!!!
They did the spraying over 50 years ago but it was just being wrote about in the paper. The chemical was something that affected the thyroid gland. It caused a cancer and I guess they were wanting to see how long it took to show up..They seemed to have just waited long enough that many of those people are dead now and can't sue them.
I was in shock..it was only a few miles from where we had lived when I was a small child.
It turned out that the sprayed area had the highest record of throid cancer of the city. I don't know how they found out as you would think people had moved away..
Anyway..other than it makes you wonder what else the government has been up to experimenting with us...my point is..why didn't that article cause a big stir in the papers?
It was swept under the rug so fast it probably got rug burn.
Anyway...somehow your post reminded me of that...hold your breath when you go outside..

I had JW girlfriend that would swear she could "Feel" the demons at some of the houses we went to out in service...I thought she was nuts.....
The point of trying to get a copy of the letter?..I don't think we can do that in the USA. I tried to get a copy of my DA letter I sent and they refused saying it was their personal property now.They never disfellowshipped me either...
I wrote the letter in 1975 and never went back.(Except for funerals)
My JW MIL asked at her hall for them to find out if it was OK to associate with me as I and hubby went to her farm to help out quite a bit..they told her it was fine but not to talk about spiritual matters with me.They also asked her how I was...they were concerned about me....(DUH!..I wrote the letter almost 30 years ago.)..They had gotten a copy of my letter but they wouldn't give ME a copy..idiot that I was for not making a copy.I think because it incriminated someone in the hall and they were afraid of a lawsuit!!!!!!!
I also was under the understanding that if you no longer associate yourselves with or represent yourself to be a JW..there is no need to disfellowship you. They only do it to so-called protect their flock from "Bad associations". If you aren't there they can't associate with you..
You guys did a great job..I can't believe they didn't do their research before they came to visit you.It doesn't even sound like they tried to answer you.They must be raising a bunch of dummies these days..

after finding this forum and being raised in the jw religion, i found jwd a refreshing place for honest feelings, fears, life experiences etc.. the history of the jw's was exposed, and those who lived any experience under this regime has been told by many members.. to be lied to by any forum member is insulting.
i have over my past year and 1/2 come to love many posters.
i realize many more have much longer time put in here.. i have been honest and exposed more of my self than i care to think about, but always kept in mind that others were doing the same and it was best for anyone new.. to lie on this forum to all of these members is horrible and i am questioning why i am so honest here.
I have been coming to these forums for many years..there have always been a few that aren't who they say they are...
They are very few in comparison to the truthful ones I have found.
I don't know how to handle ones who lie on the board..I guess I just have a hard time trusting them anymore.
I wouldn't condemn them tho..everyone makes a mistake now and then. Ritchie just wants to fit in and I guess that was his way of doing it. That must be why he became a tatoo groupie. He wanted to belong...like in the JW's..
I feel different towards someone that makes a persona up and that person doesn't exist..that to me is a deliberate hoax...using the people on the boards feelings for their own amusement...that makes me angry .

Just watched the news about people stealing all the donations that are being dropped off at the Salvation Army stores and other charities.
These weren't poor people..these were well to do looking people. Going up in broad daylight after the center was closed and stripping all the donations that were left after they closed.
They were caught on camera and they had a hidden camera crew that approached them. Boy were they embarassed.

anywho, i have read with keen interest dava sobel's longitude two or three times already and saw the a&e production by the same title, starring jeremy irons.

Hubby and I had a 25' catalina years ago. We only sailed it in the river and on a lake in Illinois that had pretty choppy water!!!
I would be the one that gets sick sailing on the ocean.
I got hit in the head twice with the boom..once I saw stars...really...
The book we really enjoyed reading was "The Dove". a guy went on a sailing trip all by himself..true story!
I would be scared to death on the ocean..but I bet you see a lot of beautiful things.
