when i first started to look into the teachings of jesus, i went out and bought a couple of books to help me.

i bought a bible dictionary, and a bible commentary.

when i looked up " pharisees" in my bible dictionary, it said "see jewish parties".

hi farkel: in my justice #6 i mention the topic of masturbation and how you posted on h20 a commentary based on the 1973 watchtower questions from readers about the topic.

it was one of the most humorous and truthful expose' of the iron tower's stupidity i have read.

i think it would be an excellent post for this forum.

Do you know how BAD I wanted to mention your "booger-picking" post from H20 when you said this, "I'm surprised that this post has any responses at all, let alone the number that is has received. It is a waste of time, except for some sort of feel-good effects." "Where's the BEEF? These kinds of threads are braindead, IMNSHO. I'm trying to find the KM where the society tells everyone, from the PO's, CO's, DO's, right down to "publishers" not to give out the society's address out to ANYONE, but to give the local congregation's address out instead. I KNOW I read it in a publication published by the society! They are already planning on LEGALLY holding elders responsible for any lawsuits.

Well, I did it!!

and it wasn't as nerve racking as i had contemplated.

and now the "ball" is set in motion.. .

i called my step (father), the elder who did the "deed" all those years ago and then my mom turns around two yrs later and marries him, after she gets involved with a married elder (who divorced his then wife and then married my mom,(bwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) and sleeps with the (enemy) every night.

I hope what Venice said is not true about the shredding, but I get the terrible feeling that it is!...Can your lawyer somehow figure a way to force the elders to hand the records over NOW? Maybe a court order? Damn! This all gets me mad! I do remember reading something in a KM about elders are to shred records after one has been inactive for so many years (not that the society don't keep their own!).

When I looked up " Pharisees" in my bible dictionary, it said "See Jewish Parties". Here is what my Bible dictionary defines the Pharisees as:

"Pharisee means "the separated ones". It may mean that they separated themselves from the masses of the people, or they separated themselves to the study and interpretation of the law.

The Pharisees were strongly monotheistic. They accepted all the OT as authoritative. They affirmed the reality of angels and demons. They had a firm belief in life beyond the grave and the resurrection of the body. They were missionary, seeking the conversion of the Gentiles ( Matthew 23:15 )."

"They had little interest in politics. The Pharisees opposed Jesus because He refused to accept the teachings of the oral law. "

If anyone out here has a Bible dictionary, can you post what your dictionary reads under "Pharisees" ? The definition I posted is from the Holman Concise Bible Dictionary.

i'm new to the board and was curious as to everyone's standing.

i'm 30, a christain, i left the jws 3 years ago (after being in it for 21 years) to follow jesus and heard of, among other good things, this great thing called: grace!

I obviously have no love for the organization, but they do teach the following of Jesus.

They organization does SAY that they follow Jesus. Just like they SAY that disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. ( those are only two of the lies the org tells the public/media site ). My opinion is that they tell these lies just to "appear loving" to rake more unsuspecting, innocent, kind-hearted people into "buying" membership to salvation through them. The org does NOT actually follow Jesus at all. If that were the case, they would not participate in the evil practice of disfellowshipping. The org distorts the letters Paul wrote to the Corinthian congregation, and then take those letters and hold them above the words of Jesus. If they are anything, I'd say they are Paul followers. Pick up any watchtower magazine and just count how many times Jesus is mentioned, and then count how many times Paul is metioned. If it isn't Paul they talk about the most in articles, it's themselves.

That's my view of whether the org follows Jesus or not.

if you read the 97 watchtower cited below you are given the impression that a child molester who is known(that is confessed) would never have privileges in the congregation arrangement.

is that really the case?

in a conversation with the service department it was plainly stated to me personally that a child molester could re-qualify again after a long period of time had passed.

Did you notice the word SEEMS in that sentence? And if the Watchtower had an inkling about the definition of the word SPIRITUAL, or what it means, they wouldn't keep "rating" thir fellowmans' spirituality. Nor would they keep printing and publishing their so-called spiritual food. It's more like spiritual garbage! They abuse the word spiritual as much as they possibly can! Have you EVER NOTICED that they capitalize the "s" when they refer to themselves as Society, but the will NOT capitalize the "H" and the "S" when they refer to GOD'S Holy Spirit? Just goes to show how humble and discreet they are. And does that show that they puffed up with pride? Any follower of them would think not. HA!! They make me sick to my stomache! For someday... they will be judged according to their own deeds, and how many lives they took down with them. and NEVER repented for any of their evil, evil deeds. Do they "seem" repentant to you? They will face ONE final judicial committee.
