Spacegirl would just like it known that she is most definitely not American and that she is shocked that anyone could even think that she is.
Spacegirl is most definitely a Brit.
Thank you.

i remembered the other day reading in an awake, oh it must have been about five or six years ago, an article on how to wash your dishes properly.
for god's sake, do jw's not know how to do that and do the borg think they have to tell them how to do it.
it's cracking me up just thinking about it.. to make you laugh even more, in the next issue of awake someone had written a bloody letter thanking them for the article and how it had helped them so much and had a query on whether to rinse dishes with water or not after washing.

I'm sure they make these letters up. If this was not a sign to me that in fact I was studying with some modern version of the Life of Brian then I don't know what was.
Oh praise be to Brian. I am definitely looking on the bright side of life now.
care to give me definitions?
of course your never completely there with the answer, until .... sorry, definitions, my mind runs away with me sometimes, a mans best friend is a dog?!!.
whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy?.
Yes it's true. There a 1,000 reasons why some of them are:
they never answer back, they are loyal even to people who are horrible to them, they are have floppy ears, they make you NOT want children, mine frightens horrible perverts off cos he a big german shepherd, it's funny watching them eating their own poo, they make you realise how lucky you are not to be a dog, every cute and loving thing, joined at the hip me and my doggie and getting some more soon so can be in dog heaven ALSO dogs are god of course.

in recent years, i'm hearing more and more stories that suggest.
that the collective state of mental health among jws may be.
declining rapidly.
The JW lady that STILL comes round to visit is such a lovely little person. Our chats tend to be general talks about life the universe and everything BUT I can tell she is off her box and it makes me sad the Society are using people like her for their suspect purposes. She is very often miles away or spaced out. Normal topics of conversation seem to go over her head and it's seems as though the only thing that wakes her up is anything to do with the bible or the "END".
I think one thing we have to remember is that for lots of religious people (JW or otherwise) their life and religion is everything to them and most of them actually get something from it. It is fulfilling a need for a lot.
Being bilingual, I liken this to learning another language. After a while you start to RESPOND in the learned language quicker and quicker, then you start to THINK in the learned language and soon after you start to ASSUME the nationality of that language you have immersed yourself in. It becomes second nature ESPESCIALLY if you live in that country and your life is taking place there. Changing all that means leaving your adopted country, going back to your old language and leaving the friends that you made whilst you were there.
I feel sorry for them.

how many of you still believe in god after your experience of the watchtower?
do you believe in a different god than the one of the org.
one who won't destroy somebody just because he wasn't in the good religion.
The reason I am struggling with accepting what it says in the bible, and not with the notion that there is a god, because as Nicolas said all those children died in the flood, I think about all the children that will die at Armageddon and above all, in the NT it says that a woman's body belongs to her husband. Yeah, right. I think these beliefs make me an unsuitable candidate for everlasting life because I'm questioning the wisdom of god himself/herself.
God is in everyone. Collectively and subconsciously we create god through the supernatural power that is within us all. Read "The Only Planet of Choice" by P V Schlemmer.
Then again you could just study a butterfly in the garden for a few minutes.

has anybody ever had any urges to act strangely at the kingdom hall?.
i remember having two very strong urges:.
the first was to stand up while everybody else was quietly listening to the meeting and throw my bible across the hall in a fit of frustration with the intention of hitting someone and waking up.
YES. I think what you might of experienced are mild panic attacks. Being closed in and wanting to make a noise amongst the silence. Whenever I went to meetings I always panicked if I wasn't on the end of a row. I needed to feel that I could get out. I had feelings of wanting to scream throughout prayers and talks and also at the Memorial meetings felt overwhelming desires to eat all the stuff and drink all the drink. I also wanted to shout something blasphemous, it was a very strange but sobering realisation.
I think this is a naturally catatonic reaction to the controlled insanity which pervades in Kingdom Halls. It is a human response to being forced into silence and sitting in rows of people like androids.
You are not alone.

ok all you ex's, be honest.
do you ever have that little voice pop in your head and say "what if - just what if they're right?".
it happens to me on occasion and i've been totally out for years.
Although I was never baptised, I have a background similar to that of a JW kid. My parents were SA officers and I spent the first 16 years attending the church 5 times a week and being told that "the time is now, get saved before you are run over by a car and spend eternity in hell." That can make a big impression on a child.
After leaving the SA the JW's "found" me and reiterated that if I wasn't following a certain set of rules that I'd be destroyed and because of my earlier indoctrination in the bible I believed them and studied on and off with them for 10 years.
YES - when the twin towers came down I thought OMG this is it I better start being good before God strikes me with a bolt of lighting. (Althought I wouldn't say my life is particularly evil.) I can see why they believe this is the end cos of all the mad stuff that is occurring. BUT if you are a student of history you can see that if you had a time machine and went back and questioned lots of people from lots of different times across the planet that they thought the same thing as the JW's do eg. The plague and the Great Fire of London. People thought that was the end and went to some very desperate measures to persuade people that it was.
In the whole picture of the universe, anything is possible, so the JW's may be right BUT if what is in the bible is remotely true, God is not gonna pulverise you just because you asked questions and wanted some sort of understanding other than what a bunch of fundamentalists say. This is also good for JW's cos he will hopefully forgive them too. I suppose some might think the "blasphemous" part of my argument is - would I really want to spend eternity in a world that the only people are JW's and in which let's face it we've got a 1,000 years to prove ourselves and even then we might fail. I personally have decided to take my chances and listen to evidence of the Universe.
Part of the reason all of us want subscribe to religions is self-preservation and it's natural to want to believe that someone, somewhere has the answers. If we're gonna look at things in a logical and scientific way, religion started for some reason so somewhere amongst it all there are smatterings of truth.
A small child right now in Afghanistan is being told right now that Allah is their god and if they don't do this or don't do that they will be punished by Allah as are children globally of other religions. I believe that this is called Mind Virus. It would be just as hard for that Taliban member to realise that they are wrong and when and if they did leave would spend the rest of their lives wondering if Allah is gone strike them dead. But you can't live the rest of you life wondering. You have to make your peace with God (which is fact yourself) and do what you can while you are here. The fact is that a lot of religions do not let you do the best for yourself and the people around you and that is why you CAN rest assure that they are not right.
My latest pieces of evidence are this:
I watched the video that the JW's have made called Jehovah's Witnesses the people behind the Organisation (I think). In it the narrator said, from Bethel millions of publications have been published that have changed the minds, hearts and PERSONALITIES of millions. Hmmm.
And secondly the JW lady that still visits me refused to acknowledge that religion is all about Faith. She recently told me that Faith plays no part in her understanding of what the JW's are about. Hmmm again. To quote the the bible that the JW's use, it is Faith, Hope and Charity that are the most important things that exist. Faith that we are making the right decisions about our actions towards ourselves and others, Hope that we haven't fucked up and will find the answers to all this stuff when we pop our clogs and the Charity to allow the JW's and other to bleat on about prophecies and understand that they are just as confused as rest of us parasites that are occupying this beautiful planet.
Best wishes

my votes:.
the best: as a group they're relatively color-blind (low to no incidence of racism among them ).. the worst: their stubborn refusal to see the good in anyone but themselves!.
what say you?
Best Trait: always got a pen in their pocket/handbag
Worst Trait: always got a pen in their pocket
i have played my trumpet for god in the salvation army.
i have taken confession and holy communion with the catholics.
i danced down oxford street banging a tambourine with the hare krishnas.
Seeker - cheers for your philosophies. I realise a lot of what you wrote makes sense and stuff that I've already come to a conclusion about. This is where Spaceism comes into it's own cos it's based on the theory that we all have an inner god and we all have our own bible. All we need to do is get in touch with that inner voice and not fight against it. Alternatively, it's just one of my ways of trying to make people smile cos enough miserable humans about at the moment isn't there. Will let you know when the website is complete. Cheers.
