For the most part
YES!
but I do have my bad days due to some clinical depression. I have to take my meds every day. If I don't, I notice a really big difference.
On a scale from 1 to 10, back when I was a dub and before I sought treatment for my medical condition, I was about a 2. Now, I'm an 8. Some days I wake up and can't believe how happy I am. I never ever imagined it could be this good.

when i talk to wordly people i always tell them that i have stop in the troof, they all smile and say to me that's very good.last time i have been to a meeting was the memorial this year.i will never come there anymore.i now people there never attend the meeting's, but allways come to the memorial, i vill not.
I have found that my "worldly" friends are more friendly and loyal than my JW friends ever were. I don't have to be on guard with them all of the time either. They just accept me for who I am. I am still working on being as good a friend to them as they are to me. Sometimes I feel inadequate as their friend due to 35 years of JW conditioning.

today we went to a local pet store, where they have these homeless animals, especially kittens brought in every weekend for a few hours to be adopted out.. we got there at a bit after two, and they were packing up to leave for the day.
but, we had seen a cute kitten and the lady who takes care of these animals in transit, stayed so we could pick out the one we wanted.. mind you, this was one of those spur of the moment decisions.

I have a poodle dog myself. Pets are so good for you, especially when you suffer from depression. Yes, they do die, as LB says, but you learn to appreciate them while they are here. So they are definately worth it.
I have wanted to get a cat too, but I am allergic to cats, so it wouldn't be fair to the cat. Still, I pet my friends' cats every time I visit and then wash my hands right away. I really enjoy them.

I haven't a clue what to tell you. I just didn't see any other way out at the time, and I wanted out. If I had it to do over again, it probably would have worked out the same for me. It is very hard. I've been shunned by JW and nonJW family both, since as JWs we were very separated from the nonJW family both by distance and by the "bad association" thing, so there were never any strong relationships forged there.
As for reunions, weddings, etc., if I were you, I would just show up anyway. Be very cordial to all of your relatives, and if the JW ones shun you, that's up to them. That would give a fine witness to the nonJWs now wouldn't it? You can have some satisfaction in that at least.

i recieved news of my fathers untimely death thursday sept. 19. i am not sure who reads these forums but if you are from the northwest of the u.s. and have been in the truth for a conciderable amount of time you will know my father.
for those of you that do not know him i feel obligated to tell you his story.

You put yourself out there on a limb and asked the question. He sawed it off and you think you were at fault?
Please Dandy Girl, don't put yourself down for this. We all think too much of you here on this board to see you treat yourself this way and not call you on it. You did nothing wrong! Mistakes and misunderstandings happen, and yes, sometimes they can be extremely embarrassing.
In this case, however, I think he is to blame. You asked a question, which is the only way you had of finding out about him. Remember that he didn't wear a ring, never mentioned he had a wife, and came into your shop often for flirty talk. Be glad he told you when you asked him out for a drink. He could have just as easily continued the game and you could have gotten hurt worse.
There are many positives here to look at. Write it off, learn from the experience, and move on.
