Does Devil Talk Irritate You?

i enjoy reading the bible on my own since i left the jw's.

i get extremely irritated when other people talk to me about how satan is causing certain things in my life--example is if i'm not getting along with a coworker or anything like that.

(my husband also blames satan).

I have fundamentalist co-workers who don't watch Lost because it has paranormal overtones. I worked for a state agency that put an end to Halloween celebrations because the Satanic connection might offend some citizenry.

As far as I am concerned, if there really was a devil, he and his demons would have caused far worse things on this earth before now. If Jah's angel can slay 185,000 soldiers in a single night, why is Satan piddling around making sure we catch the next red light? Why aren't things worse than they are? Why aren't Goodwill stores haunted with all of the possessed second hand items sitting around on the shelves? Why aren't there thousands of people daily reporting unexplained phenomena?

Wow! What a great day! It was so nice. It's good to be alive. And I met a new friend; a cute little Pomeranian named Tuffy that some friends of ours adopted. So much nicer than those meetings.

What is worse than a Sunday morning meeting at Kingdom Hall? A Sunday afternoon meeting at the Kingdom Hall! We did pass a KH yesterday afternoon and the lot was full of cars. Those pathetic suckers!

Regrets

just wondering:.

do you every regret the way you treated or shunned faders, d/a, or d/f people in the past while you wonder under the influence of the "cult".. if so have you every gone back to any of those people said that you were sorry?.

i ask because there are a few people in my past that i discarded so easily and quickly, i am really conidering tracking them down in the hopes of making amends.. i don't know if it would do any good, but i know that i would feel better.

I have located one or more of person(s) but won't go into detail to protect their identity(ies) here on this public forum. I have indeed apologized for any mistreatment on my part in the way of shunning, and also for other rude behavior involving various forms of judgment, deceit, and basically unChristian acts while under cult influence. I apologize again here publicly and hope you will continue to forgive me for my past mistakes. I was so blind.

it seemed to me that there were a number of con artist types of personalities i came across during my years there.

i am not referring to people who were actually doing anything illegal.

what i am referring to are people who were very adept at getting things out of other people.

It sounds like she was a con and a malingerer then, out to get what she could from people. You are right. That is a much different deception because it is deliberate.

Münchhausen's is related to OCD, and is a compulsive need to get attention for an illness. A Münchhausen's patient will go through with needless surgeries and even drink poison to further their symptoms. It is very rare and hard to diagnose. Even worse is Münchhausen's by proxy which involves another person, usually a child, having the symptoms to gain the attentions of doctors and pediatricians.

But this person you mentioned was obviously out to get what she could from others in the congregation.

Was she actually doing things to herself to make her appear sick? Was she injuring herself to exacerbate the symptoms?

If so, it sounds like it would be a case of Munchausen's syndrome, a psychological disorder. If she was doing it for the attention, that would be Munchausen's.

If she was only doing it for the goodies and the financial reward, then she was just a malingerer, which is a type of con.

I had a lonely great aunt who was very active, but also a hypochondriac. I don't think she ever actually self-injured, but at times it bordered on Munchausen's because of the attention she craved, and I was afraid she might hurt herself one day. I sometimes think I was the only one in the family who understood that enough to spend some extra time with her, staying overnight with her, and writing her letters. The rest of the family seem to just think she was a burden. I hope my attention helped her and I hope she knows I loved her.

After lounging around, I'm checking my email, this board, and the morning news while sipping my coffee. We are going to take a Sunday drive in the country on a beautiful day, but don't know where. There are 8 compass directions to start out in, but once we head out, we just let the day happen and pick our route as we go depending on our mood.

But I do know this. We will not end up at a Kingdom Hall, though we may pass by one or two. I will try and take a second to pause and reflect, wishing kind thoughts of eventual release for the poor souls trapped inside, bound up in the monotony they call worship... but more than likely I won't give it a second thought since I will be enjoying the day so much.

There is a bundle out now with Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and its two expansion packs for about $20.00 or less.

Version number 3 was a major disappointment for me and a big ripoff as far as I am concerned. This version was one step forward, and two steps back. It had so many bugs I started looking around for the picnic! The big selling point was that now you could ride the rides you designed, but designing those rides was tedious and cumbersome compared to the previous versions. Yes, the riding graphics were cool, and worked really well, but was a big "so what" for me. It was the designing of your coasters, watching the stats, and adjusting the ride, etc. to get the most perfect ride you could was what made the game so great in the first place. That was made so difficult in this version that it became very frustrating to me.

Version 2 is nice as bundle because you can save the scenery with your rides, and it has a Six-Flags license so you can play around in Magic Mountain, one of my favorite parks.

ok 20 years out only 10 years free (cuz sometimes i'm a slow learner).

yup may makes 20 years since i officially got the boot.

20 years since i lost my entire way of life and had to start all over - no money, no home, no education, no job.. there's a sad kind of irony here in that except for the education i'm sort of in the same boat.

I love em. I don't live near any, though, so I haven't been on one in years. Still, one of my favorite PC games is Rollercoaster Tycoon (versions 1 and 2, NOT 3 which was a piece of trash I paid way too much for).

Oh well, the curse of living in a soggy state.
