A Bad experience with JW is a permit for SIN?
by El Mariachi ini've been reading some sad experinces here... i dont see anyone talking about the bible... only how misserables the organization made their lives... ok ...so because of that...now i have permission to smoke marijuana and commit fornication?
this sounds pretty much like aa... and everybody having his/her personal "superior power" who is giving them the permit to do whatever they want...
i've been df for 4 years now and also dont agree with some jw teachings... why instead of blaming the wt for everything dont we look for the real truth in the bible and make things right.

Baptized July 05. Left Dec 05.
by Moomin ini have been lurking on these forums for about 6 months and thought it was time to join in.. i was a child/teen when i first became introduced to jehovah's witnesses through my mum who studied for a while but never fully committed.
i had a study and attended some meetings but it all petered out by the time i hit my late teens and we moved to another town.. for the following 10 years i just lived my life how i pleased.
got married etc.

How Many Here Have Ever Been Before A Judicial Committee???
by minimus ini've been on plenty of jcs but i never was the target of the elders, judicially.....although i would be now.

Technically, yes. But it was only after I wrote to the Judicial Committee and told them I no longer wanted to be known as a JW. They were very insistent that I meet with them so that they could talk me out of my decision. Only for my family's sake did I go to that meeting.
It was a very strange meeting, since I really didn't recognize their authority over me any longer. Out of respect I let them say a prayer, but I was rather detached about it. I was rather detached from the whole process, as I already considered myself an ex-JW.
They didn't persuade me of anything, but I now understand why they asked me certain questions. After hearing about the experiences of others, I now know they were trying to determine if I was an apostate, which I didn't consider myself to be at that time. In fact, I wasn't entirely certain that the WTBTS wasn't God's earthly organization, so I answered truthfully their questions, but my mind was made up that it was time for me to leave. Some bigoted statements on the part of one of the elders just reinforced my conviction me that I really didn't want to belong to their backward and judgmental organization any longer.

Hey - first time here
by kimoko inhello i am megan tis my first time here (hence the title :) ) so i just thought i would introduce myself.. i've never actually never been actually been a jehovahs witness but i first actually got introduced to it in january when i met the amazing kw13 haha :) since then ive looked at books, articles and had a wonderous time on the friday of the 2006 3 day jw convention .
i'm trying to help karl get his mum out of the witnessing, hopefully we can get through its not gonna be easy but we are optimistic.
its been a real difficult time for me trying to understand the witnessing because it went from 16 years of just knowning them as them people who bother you at your door to getting to know alot more and their "morals".

Ever wonder if an old friend turned apostate?
by beautifulisfree ini often wonder if my old witness friends from my past are still in the 'truth' (god i hope not)?
i know this site is pretty popular amongst ex-witnesses.
and since most of us have 'fake names'...we could be talking to someone that we already know.

Came out to my parents
by jstalin injust wanted to write about my experience in coming out to my parents in the last two weeks.
it's a long story, but my sister and i are both gay, but we haven't come out to our parents until now.
my sister and i have been debating with each other the best way to come out to them because we've known that it would be a serious blow to them.

Congratulations! That was a big and courageous step. There is a good chance that they will come around, especialy with two children that they love and have raised. Have you checked out PFLAG for resources for your parents?
