WOULD YOU PREACH TO A DOG???
by minimus inthis little gem is from the watchtower, january 15, 2000...."in el salvador, one man tied his vicious dog in front of the door whenever he saw jehovah's witnesses nearby.
the man would wait for the witnesses to move on, and then he would bring the dog back into the house.
the brothers were never able to speak to the man.

... and the man told all of his relatives that he was studying the Bible and they all wanted to sit in on the study. Well the brother always conducted the study from the street because the dog was so loyal he still would not let the brother into the house. When the neighbors saw all of these people studying the Bible on the street in front of this man's house, they were very curious. The man had always been mean and cruel to his neighbors and had always sicced the dog on them. But they had to investigate and satisfy their curiousity about what was going on. So they all went over and asked what this man was doing, and the brother explained that they were having a Bible study. Well, the neighbors were so impressed by the change in the man that they too wanted to join in the study... and yada, yada, yada... they were all baptized at the next District Assembly except for the dog. Isn't it marvelous how Jehovah's Spirit keeps guiding our organization?

Can it send me back to January 1876? I can just imagine the conversation.
(Pop!)
Hey Charlie, can't stay long, but I've just come back from the year 2002 and I have to tell you that you and Nelson have it all wrong! Forget 1873, 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, 1975, 1984, 1995, and the end of the twentieth century as valid dates. Nothing happens. Nada. Zip. No Armageddon. And especially forget about 1914 and all of that parousia crap. Well gotta go, Haujobbz can't keep this casimir effect going very long. And watch out for a jerk by the name of Rutherford. He's gonna take over everything after you're goooooooooooooooooone!

DA=DF....Why?
by thinker inthe latest kingdom ministry states that disassociated persons are to be treated the same as disfellowshipped ones.
i have heard two explanations:.
1) those who da are assumed to be sinners who were apt to be disfellowshipped if they had stayed in the organization.

The question I have was not covered in that August 2002 Kingdom Ministry insert. I would like to know how all of the information covered in the this insert applies to the WTBTS and the UN now that the WTBTS has DAed itself from the UN? Can the UN talk to the WTBTS anymore? Or is the WTBTS not allowed to talk to the UN? I'm so confused on this issue and I really wish they would clarify this to everyone, especially with Halloween coming up in a few months. I don't know whether I should give my UNICEF donation to the trick-or-treaters or the JWs?!?

A question about shunning
by In_between_days ini was wondering if anyone would have any comments or responses to this question:.
if one was never baptised, but is however, an active apostate, (contributing to these boards, conversing with other apostates ect) is that a reasonable cause for jw shunning, from family?
this is a question i'd love an answer to, and if anyone has any watchtower answers to this question, i'd love it if you could provide them, i'd really appreciate it.

Dear In-Between-Days,
Okay, so your Mom won't listen to things you tell her about the "Apostate" boards, but she will listen to you and what you have to say. This is a great opportunity for you, from where I'm sitting, because at least there is some communication. She has tied your hand behind your back by not listening to what you say about the "Apostates" but that is not a real great handicap. Just don't ever bring "Apostates" into it.
The next time your Mom asks about your standing at judgement day, tell her, "I think I'll be just fine Mom, because I have never molested innocent children or have been party to covering up a case of child abuse."
Write to the UN and ask them about the WTBTS involvement, and then leave the letter lying on the dining room table.
Talk about how concerned you are for the child abuse victims that have nowhere to go now that SilentLambs has been labeled "Apostate." Ask her if she would ever help you set up a similar site within the JWs, and if she would be willing to man the hotline.
Tell her that you don't understand why all of those dates have come and gone without anything happening. What did happen on those dates? Why were they special if they were based on Biblical calculations? Ask her to explain again what a generation means again. Tell her you keep getting the definitions confused because for years they kept saying 70-80 years.
Ask her if the Watchtower is afraid of paying Caesars things to Caesar, and then ask her why they changed from meal tickets to the contribution system? Is she sure it wasn't to avoid having to pay sales taxes?
In other words, keep challenging her and her beliefs. Make her defend her position to you. Don't take everything at face value and maybe she will begin to question things too. Every chance you get, put a seed of doubt in her mind.
Be loving. Be kind. Be gracious. But ask plenty of questions that she can't answer. Don't directly confront her. That won't work. It will only make her circle the wagons. Instead, use psychology to get her to begin to doubt, to reason, and to question.
The book "Understanding Mind Control Among Jehovah's Witnesses" by Randall Watters is a really good resource for understanding the cult mindset and how to approach people who are locked in it. I highly recommend it.

I wrote to the UN
by StinkyPantz ini wrote to the united nations friday so that i could get the information about the watchtower's association with them from the proverbial horse's mouth.
i want to show my parents that what i'm saying about the watchtower is not just something we evil "apostates" made up.
what i received was the exact same letter that i've found on the web, but since these are addressed to me (addressed to my email addy) from officers in the un maybe they'll actually take a look.

Our old Circuit Overseer Bill Baxter told us to watch the United Nations for the signs of the time of the end. I don't think he knew he was talking about the end of the WTBTS!

I didn't see Theresa Graves in that list. She was one of the dancers on Laugh-In and played Christie Love, the TV cop.

Shock encounter for the Apostle...
by TheApostleAK ini was waiting for a bus to get back to my house 3 days ago and guess who drove past in a car???
the first jw i ever studied with and who got me in to "the truth" (he's the same age as me, 24) .
he was driving a nissan sylvia (sports car...no-no 4 jw's) and he had his left eyebrow pierced.... i wonder what his story is??.

Swan
Yeah, the body piercing thing was the surprise here. Not a dub-like thing to do at all. Sounds like if you looked him up in the phone book, called him up, and then asked him what was up; he would probably tell you!

Disfellowshiping, is it an Endangered Species ?
by Siddhashunyata init is apparent that bill bowen and silentlambs will not go away.
it seems to me that over time, this fact translates to defection within the ranks of jehovah's witnesses as they continue to "associate " with this apostate.
in her letter to the governing body, bill's wife correctly states that it is the body's policies that have caused "divisions".
-
Swan
While I agree with minimus, I also think that it won't affect their stance whatsoever. Is Disfellowshipping a smart policy to follow in this day and age? No. Not any more. Will they continue to do it despite the public outcry? You bet! They have never done the smart thing. They have always dug in their heels especially when criticized by "the World." They will view the increasing bad press as persecution and justification that theirs is the right way. They will stubbornly dig in because they will feel attacked and paranoid. Individuals and even small groups will leave the cult in a steady trickle and they too will be disfellowshipped, but it won't change the WTBTS paranoid outlook.
Of course, I would love for them to prove me wrong.

JW.com is my break. My break from the people who I work with and play with everyday, who understand me less than any of you.
Blueroom! That's a great post. I too find this place very refreshing. Nobody else in my daily life knows what it was like as a Dubbie. It's nice to come here and read posts like your and realize that it is so true.
Thank you!
