Of course, the one to really watch for is a Charlie Russell pyramid card. Find one of those and you would really be sitting pretty!

I fear that some day they will convince many of their followers to do what the followers of Jim Jones did and commit mass suicide. To a degree they have already done that. Many have died from refusing medical procedures that the WT told them they should abstain from (vaccinations, transplants, and blood transfusions). Many have died in other ways for taking a stand for the beliefs of the WT cult. Christian Longo killed his whole family believing he was doing them a favor by sending them to a resurrection to paradise.
To think that some day my family may be convinced to sacrifice themselves without question, as Abraham was willing to do with Isaac, and as Jesus did for them, is a very scary concern for me.

This is true. I don't think anyone here is excusing this behavior. His being a JW, being abused by his father, etc. are issues that only explain his bizarre behavior, not excuse it. There is no excuse.
Dysfunctional people often confuse explanations with excuses for their actions without ever taking responsibility for their actions. This is tactic often used by people to justify their dysfunctional behavior. In this case, his past issues help to explain this behavior, but don't ever excuse it.
His children may grow up to be fine people (although with issues of their own, probably) in spite of this abuse. Let's hope so.

today i was working in the subway here in toronto and i looked over at a public phone and i saw what seemed to be a tract, so over i went and yes it was!
mysteriously placed so one could see it, no doubt counted as a placement and a few hours on the report.
so later on i am walking up the stairs and again i see this piece of paper, yet another tract of a different name.. so by taking these tracts i believe i may have saved someones life from the pain and suffering we have all been through.

Your quick thinking will probably go unrewarded, you will never be presented with the keys to the city by the mayor, and you will never sit at the dinner table with the Prime Minister. But you, I, and the others here know what a noble and heroic service you performed for your fellow man. Such unsung heroes should not go unrecognized, but, alas, they always are.

The medium itself may present a slanted view. Some friends of mine who are xJW have never had any issues. They have moved on. They don't come here. So maybe you are getting a higher percentage of people on this board with issues to resolve. Not everybody here, of course, but a higher percentage than normal probably because that is what this board is for, to help people resolve these issues.
And I don't blame them for all of my issues, but my therapist believes that much of my abuse stems from them as the environment I was raised in. So as far as the shoe fits, the JWs should wear it. I am interested in resolving the issues, no matter where they lead me. Right now they are leading me to the issues of being raised as a JW and then shunned. It's not a cop out. Therapy, and dealing with the issues, is very hard work!

i am looking for my long lost cousin - laura ray.. she grew up in pennsylvania (altoona and i think her last home there was in state college) and last i knew she was in florida.
she was df'd about 15 years ago and i have lost all contact with her.

He was raised in an abusive family as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, so it shouldn't surprise anyone here that the man has serious issues that need dealing with. I just hope he gets good therapy and that his child gets good foster parents.

while it has been fairly well established that the wt monitors this site, i believe that it is not the only body doing so.
this site, and others like it, are open to anyone, anywhere in the world w an internet connection.
all this is available, not just to individuals, but also to advertising adgencies, intelligence agencies, corporations, etc.

BTW, this was actually not a concentration camp. Our goverment called it an "internment" camp. Obviously they didn't want to call it a concentration camp to avoid comparison with the Nazis.

No, it isn't a joke. It's not a laughing matter. I was told this as I was growing up and I BELIEVED every bit of it for the first 35 years of my life. That's the really sad part. To know that for 35 years of my life I thought that way and had such FAITH and TRUST in them, and then to find out that I, and six million other people, really had no HOPE at all. It was gone overnight, and a piece of me died with it. That's the really sad thing about it.
