Ten reasons Jehovah’s Witnesses have the true religion (plus a bonus one)
by slimboyfat inthinking back when i was a true believer these are probably the top ten reasons why i believed jws are the true religion.
1. they show love among themselves by not going to war.
not killing your fellow believers in any circumstances, including war, would seem to be a very basic requirement for true christianity.

Rumour 144,000 literal number teaching to be abandoned at Annual Meeting
by slimboyfat insay it ain’t so!
.
in one sense it’s a no brainer because the figures just don’t add up any more.. in another (negative) sense it’s a no brainer because it’s been fundamental to jws since year dot and might undermine the whole thing?

What I found particularly odd was how a few times Jackson actually states about himself that he's humble. Who on earth says that about themselves?!
You always know straight away that when someone says, 'I'm serious!' or 'I'm not lying!' that's exactly the opposite of what they are.

Freethemasons it's not in that transcript but that's because it wasn't Jackson who changed the interpretation of the faithful slave, it was the lawyer representing the WT who said that, incidentally the lawyer was a woman.
The transcript is a very interesting read all the same! I particularly like the part where Jackson is squirming about them not having say in members families and the lawyer says, but you consider your organisation one big family?
Indeed, so their 'Brother and Sister' are just titles given to baptised JWs, not real heartfelt claims of familial love anf sense of belonging.

Questionable Claims and/or Actions of The Governing Body
by Vanderhoven7 inhere are a few of the questionable claims and actions of the gb that i have noticed:.
a. writing themselves into the salvation formula.
b. claiming they are jehovah's unique channel of communication.

Turning one or two sentences of a parable into a prophecy about themselves only.
Making false prophecies of their own.
Claiming that prophecies already fulfilled have to be fulfilled... again.
Making the entire NT about them, 8 old white English speaking men in the 20th/21st century.

Modern medicine/science is like religion, they have to sell so many treatments that 'work' (they don't have a single cure, absolutely everything is a suppressant of your symptoms, cutting stuff out of you is also not a cure), to get people to put faith in them. If you question a medicine or treatment, you're called all sorts of names (apostate anyone?). You should leave all the thinking to your Doctors (governing body/bishop/pope etc) and simply do as you're told (obey) because they have the (secret) knowledge that you, the patient (pleb/mortal/earth dweller), do not have.
Did I miss anything out 😅

"Members of the community have reported being shunned at public events, denied participation in community activities, and, in some cases, facing harassment or discrimination in the workplace. This social exclusion has made it increasingly difficult for Jehovah’s Witnesses to practice their faith openly without fear of ridicule or hostility."
This bit made me laugh, pot, kettle, black and all that.
And 'National Network of Lawyers Against Spiritual Sales'? Who came up with that title? 😅

Matthew 6:16 "They have received their reward in full."
But if anyone considers themself a true Christian, they will stil try to help these elderly people, and might even lead them to the true understanding of the two main commandments, to love the Lord out God, and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

as you know my ex wife and i adopted her brother at 7 years old when his parents passed away.. we brought him up a j.w but he left at 16 and moved in with his girlfriend.. it came out he had been interfering with our 3 daughters when they were very young.. he never got prosecuted becouse my daughters didnt want to ( i suspect their mother a hard out j.w has something to do with that) so basicly he walked free.. latter in life he left his girlfreind comes back to the j.ws and they welcome him like the prodical son and he marries a j.w.. if anyone reading this thinks the j.ws like to hide c.s a read on.. it came to my attention recently by 2 ex elders that had read the letter that followers him when he moves congros that it says the sex bettween him and my daughters was consensual..they were under 10 years old.. this were it gets disgusting.. i approach the p.o of my old congro and ask him who wrote the letter he said he had moved by that time go see another elder .. i did he didnt know as well and said for me to ring the branch.. i did and they were not interested in changing the letter at all basicly go away.. the offender has moved congros 3 times and every time they elders think my daughters under 10 went along with this pos.. not sure what my next move is as the branch here has closed down and they operate out of a diffrent country.. if anyone wants to ask questions ill p.m the reply to you..

I think peacefulpete has the best answer above in fairness.
As a ps, the poster doesn't state whether the boy was at any point baptised while living under his roof, to JWs that would make a big difference. An unbaptised individual is not under their jurisdiction, and whatever was done before baptism is in the past as far as they're concerned.

Kids having some kind of sex with kids is a reflection of their upbringing, common in jw land because their innocence is destroyed from birth having to listen to sex talks at the Hall.
I don't believe an under age child perpetrator would be prosecuted by law, the trauma of losing his own family paired with weekly brain washing sessions and cult behaviour is the true perpetrator. Adults are responsible here, not children.
JW families in general do not have open communication with their children because of the judgement and stigma of 'sin' and 'sinful behaviour ' which cause children to be silent, for fear of punishment, which we all know is harsh.
I am speaking from personal experience and eye witness experience.
Children cannot be blamed for childhood behaviour directly caused by the way adults raise them. The law wont see it as any different.

Early Christian Symbols - Modern JW symbol
by moomanchu inour visit to rome and tour guides taught me a little about these symbols.. it made me realized how ignorant i was about to them.
of course the reason i was so ignorant about them is that they are demonized by the wtbs.. since a lot of these symbols are simply letters of jesus's name, it struck me how the jw.org letters symbol is good, .
but the letters symbol for jesus is bad!.

I read just this week that the chi rho symbol was used in the margin of a text to mark that particular passage as 'good'.
