Ten reasons Jehovah’s Witnesses have the true religion (plus a bonus one)

Thinking back when I was a true believer these are probably the top ten reasons why I believed JWs are the true religion.

    1. They show love among themselves by not going to war. Not killing your fellow believers in any circumstances, including war, would seem to be a very basic requirement for true Christianity.

    2. They honour Jehovah’s name by using it and giving it prominence. Again this would seem to be a very basic requirement for Christians who are said to be called out of the nations as “a people for his name”.

    3. They reject the post biblical teaching of the Trinity which uses language that is not found in the Bible and distances people from God by making him appear incomprehensible.

    4. They teach the truth about who Jesus is as God’s firstborn and his loyal servant.

    5. They point to God’s kingdom as the only hope for mankind as Jesus and the early Christian’s did and don’t get involved in politics or social or protest movements.

    6. They preach and publish in more languages than any other group in history, fulfilling the Bible prophecy about preaching to all the earth in the last days.

    7. Their founder Russell rediscovered basic Bible truths at a time when technology was in place to facilitate the preaching work worldwide.

    8. Jehovah’s Witnesses have increased from a tiny number in one country to be a great crowd of worshippers from all nations of the world.

    9. Each of the JW leaders has been just what was needed at the time for Jehovah to accomplish his purpose: Russell to recover Bible truth; Rutherford to arrange a theocratic structure and remove remaining false beliefs and practices; Knorr to organise the logistics of an unprecedented worldwide preaching campaign; Franz to provide a Bible translation that accurately conveys God’s word; the Governing Body in the final part of this system of things to prepare God’s people to come through the Great Tribulation and into the new world.

    10. Witness teaching about humans looking forward to endless life on earth makes better sense as our biblical destiny rather than viewing this life a waiting room before we go to heaven.

    11. Witness teaching that God’s sovereignty has been challenged and will be vindicated makes sense of human history, gives an explanation for suffering, and offers the hope that it will end permanently in the future under God’s kingdom.

These are the kinds of thoughts and reasons that convinced me JWs had truth. Other groups may meet one or a few of these points to varying degrees, but only JWs meet all of them combined. What were your reasons for believing JW have the truth?

Me too. I agree with the 10 items.

@slimboyfat: Thinking back when I was a true believer these are probably the top ten reasons why I believed JWs are the true religion.

    Yes, same.

@KerryKing: You always know straight away that when someone says, 'I'm serious!' or 'I'm not lying!' that's exactly the opposite of what they are.

Bible principle: "A false witness lies with every breath."

Application: When Watchtower says all those things about itself (which they do say are reasons they're the "true religion") you know the opposite is actually what is closer to the truth.

    Therefore...

TOP TEN REASONS THE SO-CALLED "JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES" AFFILIATED WITH WATCHTOWER DO NOT HAVE THE TRUE RELIGION (PLUS A BONUS ONE)

    1. They help fund war and profit off of it by means of having invested in and promoted the foundation of the modern state of Israel, as well as by having stock in companies that make and trade weapons, since stock share ownership is part of owning the company.

    2. They reproach Jehovah's name by fraudulently claiming to represent Him all the while doing things that He hates like shunning people, approving of abuse and promoting abusers, encouraging taking in blood via fractions, divination/pyramidology 1914 doctrine, etc.

    3. They distance people from God by teaching that He won't personally interact face-to-face with the great crowd.

    4. They teach lies about Jesus' words at Matthew 24:45 thereby inserting a pharisaical and antichrist group of men as a fraudulent form of mediators who attempt to usurp Christ's role as leaders of the flock; all those following the Governing Body and its hierarchy are led astray from following Jehovah's appointed Christ.

    5. While claiming to promote the kingdom they actually instead set up the Watchtower hierarchy leaders as kings now. These self-appointed kings lord it over the flock in a harsh way, meddling with what they ought not, and directly oppose Christ's teachings on love. Their shunning doctrine is used in a "political" way to oppress and control members. Elders are competitive and the rank-and-file must show support for various "candidates" of the Watchtower hierarchy in order to receive "privileges."

    6. By means of their widespread preaching they have also spread leaven/hypocrisy/weeds/lies about Jehovah throughout the entire earth.

    7. Their founder Russell brazenly plastered a pyramid (A Pyramid! God-damned Egypt with all those plagues and humiliated Pharaoh!) all over the earth via the "Photo-drama of Creation" and his talks and publications, even though the word "pyramid" is not found once in the Bible. While the videos talk about him "rediscovering Bible truths" the man corrupted Bible teachings at the same time, in obscene ways that had never been done before. (A freakin' Pyramid!)

    8. As the numbers of Jehovah's Witnesses have increased, so has the blasphemy and reproach on God's name. Now people are blaspheming God's name all over the world by claiming to be "Jehovah's Witnesses" while adhering to reproachful false doctrines, things that God hates and that hurt people He loves.

    9. Each of the JW leaders have expanded upon or introduced or promoted new ways of offending Jehovah and hurting people and hurting Jehovah God. Some ways include adding new pharisaical doctrines thereby causing more divisions in the flock and more divisions between the people and Jehovah God and more divisions between the people and Jesus.

    10. The JW teachings about paradise neglects to inform the people that Jesus and the 144,000 and Jehovah God will also be materializing bodies to interact with humans here on earth, which is the principle theme of the paradise: being reunited with God. Instead, the JW teaching makes people think they'll be divided from God and Jesus for all eternity. It's sick.

    11. The JW teachings mention God's sovereignty being challenged and say opposition to His sovereignty will end but then by means of raising up themselves as kings now in opposition to Christ become among the very ones challenging it.

These are the kinds of thoughts and reasons that convinced me JWs had didn't have the truth.

These are the reasons Jehovah and Jesus are tearing down Watchtower first.

Their being no part of the world which included refusing to support either the government military or the "freedom fighters" in apartheid South Africa, refusing to salute the flag or sing either the national anthem or "freedom songs". It was a faith that lived what they preached in a polarised country in which the churches were equally polarised.

    They are guilty of

    a. writing themselves into the salvation formula

    b. claiming they are Jehovah's unique channel of communication

    c. asserting that no one who rejects their authority is a real Christian

    d. determining that 99% of those martyred for the name of Christ prior to the 20th century were only professed Christians

    e. denying all the benefits of justification to 8 million so called modern other sheep

    f. mandating shunning of former Jehovah's Witnesses

    Add to that:

They preach a non-salvific gospel and an unrelatable Jesus.

The core teaching of the WBTS were right. However the Governing Body just couldn't help themselves but continued talking and turned the simple Christian message back into a hybrid Jewish religion ... where King David gets more air-time than the world's savior, Jesus Christ.

Did you go to the summer convention, no-zombie? It was wall to wall Jesus.

Thanks, Earnest, yes I can see that specific situation is powerful.

I could have added that the behaviour of JWs during the Third Reich was also something that convinced me Jehovah’s Witnesses have the truth. The Nazi regime is as close to a laboratory test of who are true Christians as you could conceivably devise and JWs conducted themselves well when so many others did not. That’s not to deny that individuals of other religions showed courage or that some other small groups also took a stand against the regime, but it seems obvious that JWs stood out as a religious group that stood firm under extreme trial.

FreeTheMasons and Vanderhoven and downvoter you’ve either misunderstood the thread or are not willing to enter into the spirit of it. There are hundreds of threads on why JWs are wrong. I thought one thread on why we thought they were right might be interesting. 💡

    Okay.🙂

What were your reasons for believing JW have the truth?

Here are some of mine: I thought they were honest and I thought they really loved me and I thought they really loved Jehovah and I thought they really loved truth and I thought they really loved other people.

But they don't. They love "privileges" more than they love God and they love "privileges" more than they love truth and they love "privileges" more than they love people.

    🥲
