Maybe they will actually begin to encourage publishers to look after the elderly, the widows and fatherless children, that should keep them busy!

The New Busy Work
by NotFormer infor a hundred years the slaves were kept from having the time and energy to question anything and associate anywhere where they might be exposed to alternative views by having to keep up the busy work of going door to door.
that avenue is drying up.
and policy is changing.. the wt needs new busy work to keep the sheep engaged without thinking.. the wt fancies itself as an up and coming movie studio.

I have some questions about the Org.!
by KerryKing inare any or all of the gb from jewish descent?.
why are they so fascinated with following ancient jewish 'principles' ?.
isa 43:10, 44:8 ' you are my witnesses ' which they based their religious identity on, jehovah's witnesses, yet those verses address the jews, not christians, which they profess to be.. jesus said in ac 1:8 'you will be witnesses of me ', .

Thank you everyone, very helpful explanations.
I have been df for 15 years, about to get married to my partner of 13 years, and my family are hoping I will apply to be reinstated. For years I thought I would want to return, but the more I read the Bible, and communicate on this forum and on Beroean Pickets, the stronger the feeling is growing that there is something very different about the current JW religion, it seems quite sinister to me but I can't put my finger on exactly what it is.
I really enjoy the discussions on here, so thank you to all, you're clarifying a lot of past murky teachings and questions for me.

Jesus said in Ac 1:8 'you will be witnesses of me ',
in Ac 10:39 'we are witnesses of all the things he did',
Ac 13:31 ' for many days he became visible to those who had gone up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people',
Heb 12:1,2 'we have so great a cloud of witnesses....let us run with endurance....as we look intently at the Chief Agent and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus'.
Seeing as they profess to be Christians (do they though?) should they not have called themselves Jesus' Witnesses?
On another topic, is there any way of finding out whether those leaving the org, either by df or da or fading etc are mainly women or men?

Snakes had legs until Eden curse! Watchtower 1880 till 1974!!!
by Witness 007 inoften flicking through watchtower bound volumes i would see pictures of eden which shows the snake in the tree of knowledge with legs??
even the photo drama of creation shows a snake with legs.. watchtower 1964 p.352 "genisis 3;14 {snake}on your belly you will go and dust you shall eat...before god curse it the snake had legs, that elivated it above the ground...god transformed it's body so that it ceased to have legs and was able to move on it's belly.".
god's eternal purpose 1974 "god did not put a curse on the whole serpent family...it had only been victimized by satan.. forrest gump watchtower science is price-less!.

Well duh, obviously Satan was a dinosaur and after God cursed him he lost his legs, this also explains the disappearance of dinosaurs.
Problems solved.

"Other sheep" JW's are NOT witnesses & should NOT be preaching!
by BoogerMan inonly those who think that they'll soooooooon be king/priests, can be called "witnesses" and do preaching work.. w98 2/1 p. 17 par.
16 - in 33 c.e., the israel of god (not r/f jw's!
) replaced fleshly israel and became jehovah’s “servant,” his “witnesses.”.

I thought the same about the substituting instead of ambassadors, they're putting themselves in Jesus' place.
I hadn't figured out the witness part but it makes so much sense, thanks for sharing!

Are JWs forgetting Jesus altogether?
by KerryKing ina relative sent me yesterday's wt study article 46, how jehovah guarantees his promise of paradise.. it's been a long time since i read one of those articles but what really struck me about this one is that, considering it's discussing a fundamental jw belief, it only mentions jesus twice as an aside, and not at all as the central figure like the bible does.
it actually mentions satan far more in the same article!.
i don't remember this discrepancy from my time in the org 15 years ago.

Are they quietly rejecting the King so they can reject 1914 as well........?

John 13:35 Mistranslated?
by KerryKing indisclaimer!
i am not a bible translator not do i speak ancient greek or hebrew.. john 13: 35 nwt : 'by this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves '.. (curiously, this verse is not listed in the nwt index under the word 'disciples'.).
the biblehub interlinear reads : ' by this will know all that to me disciples you are if love you have among yourselves '.. could it actually mean, contrary to all bible translations, that it is jesus himself, and not people in general, who identifies his disciples because they show love among each other?.

What publication is the excerpt from? I would be suspicious of the author tbh, in the 3rd century it was mostly the monks who recorded history after all.
It seems that with the passing of the centuries Christianity and the love weakened. In London during a plague, entire families were boarded up inside their homes if there was even one sick person thought to be inside, no contact, no care, no food etc.

In theory I suppose the RCC preaches the love, but in reality, in the Catholic Ireland I'm from, that is far from the case, workhouses, mother and baby homes, the illegal burial and sale of babies and children by such establishments (still ongoing), child abuse, the blind eye Rome turned to the genocide now called a famine etc etc.
There are and have been good Christians in that denomination, b but as a group, they definitely don't fit Jesus description from what I see.

Disclaimer! I am not a Bible translator not do I speak ancient Greek or Hebrew.
John 13: 35 NWT : 'By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves '.
(Curiously, this verse is not listed in the NWT Index under the word 'disciples'.)
The Biblehub Interlinear reads : ' By this will know all that to Me disciples you are if love you have among yourselves '.
Could it actually mean, contrary to all Bible translations, that it is Jesus himself, and not people in general, who identifies his disciples because they show love among each other?
At no point past or present has society in general said, ' oh these people are Jesus disciples because they're so loving to each other.' JWs are known for knocking on doors, that's it...
Matt 25: 34-46 'to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me'. Re showing love to each other.
Even Jesus disciples themselves don't realise that their love and care towards each other is anything outstanding. People in general are also unaware that their treatment of others has been unacceptable, according to this prophecy.
The only one who recognises the love and the actions of his disciples, is Jesus himself.
How do JWs fare under the scrutiny of these verses I wonder? From growing up in the religion, I very often felt that those who did good deeds towards their own br and sis did so out of a sense of duty, a way to rack up brownie points upstairs, rather than a genuine display of love.
Or maybe I am too cynical, of course there are exceptions, but as a group, I feel that especially since the 2020 worldwide Media circus, they have lost their way even more.
Thoughts?
