What will be the next big 'new light'?

it's been a while since the watchtower overlords made any serious doctrinal changes.

wts 'new light' seems to be somewhat cyclical, around every ten years or so.

it's been just over 10 years since the 1995 'this generation' change.

So, while our calculation of the end of the gentile time was based on the best secular and biblical dates avalible at the time it would appear that 1914, though a monumentous year in human history, was not the year that hearalded the beginning of Christ's reign. (You can tell this is from bethel because of the long ass sentance)
Does this mean we are not living in the last days? Certainly not! Our next article will discuss our better understanding of the end of the gentile times and show just how deep in "The Last Days" we really are.
I think you hit it with this. Eventually they will have to abandon it and you nailed the way they will spin it.

Marriage - Why bother?

yet another friend's marriage has broken down(5th), this one i did not predict at all.

it came as a shock to me.

they got married after 10 years of living together so it's not like they didn't know each other.

Yeah, Sammy was really electric on stage. He really likes to use the "F" word. I saw him in a solo concert and also with Van Halen in 04. I was a little dissapointed in the VH concert because they had a stage that wrapped around part of the audience, and he was leaning over that area signing autographs between verses. I thought that was a little tacky.

CaboWabo is a bar owned by Sammy Hagar in Cabo on the tip of Baja. I think originally the guys from Van Halen were partners too.
Here's my story:
I was there this past weekend. It's a really rockin' place. Lots of tourist types there in the party mode drinking too much. I spent 3 nights at the place and the third night I was burned out on the drinking scene so I was just there hanging out. They have a great sound system blasting classic rock until the band starts playing about 10. The place isn't really that big and the dance floor is maybe 20 feet wide in front of the stage.
So I was sitting with my group of friends at a front row table. The dance floor was packed like sardines by the time the band started. The band played a couple of songs and then I noticed them pointing behind me. I looked up on the balcony but didn't see anything. I looked back and they were still pointing. The third time I looked back, there he was, Sammy Hagar in the flesh.
He has a home in Cabo and shows up at his bar unannounced. I was just lucky enough to hit it. He started out with "Mas Tequila", did a couple of his Montrose songs, a Led Zep song and one of his Van Halen songs. He ended up bringing his wife on the stage (she had been side stage handing him a Corona while he was on stage) and he got her and her girlfriend to come out and sing "I love this Bar". She only sang maybe a verse and then he finished it.
What an experience, once in a lifetime for sure.

Damselfly's absence reminds me what a different relationship we have on this board. Some of us become good friends but if one of us suddenly died we would have no way to know it. Alot of us don't even know each others real names much less out address or phone number.

one of my favorite movie quotes is from bill and teds excellent adventure: strange things are afoot at the circle k. (bill and ted said this after seeing themselves arrive from the future in a flying phone booth time machine.).

starting last week some very strange things have been happening.

first, on christmas day i got a phone call from my parents phone number.

I have observed a softening with those in your situation after time passes and the "tough love" scenario hasn't worked. I think deep down most people have a real hard time shunning people, especially family. But of course there are those that shunning doesn't bother, and may in fact enjoy doing it for the feeling of superiority it gives them. Along with them are those that are just too stubborn to ever let it go
Like has been said, enjoy your gift. Considering their past actions, I would keep my distance for a while and see where it goes.

The God Who Wasn't There Movie?

i just ordered this movie, i watched the trailer for it was intrigued.

have any of you seen this film?

i am curious of what others thought of it.

I got it when it first came out. I really like it, especially the ending. It contains alot of thought provoking information.
There are quite a few interviews on the disc you can access. I found those a little disconcerting as they were overlayed on the original movie. I found the visual and the memories of the movie it recalled took away from the interview.
