Tower Of Babel
by Blue Grass innote:this was a post i made on another thread but i felt it was off topic so i giving it it's own thread.. someone(who i can't remember) on a thread(which i can't remember) said the tower of babel story is proven false because some languages evolved from others and thus that was another strike against the bible as being fiction.
however this person doesn't realize that there are languages on this earth that has absolutely no relation whatsoever such as chinese-english, spanish-arabic, greek-xhosa, etc.
not to mention all of the ancient languages that are now extinct due to invading countries forcing their own language on other countries.

Self Abuse
by startingover insomething occurred to me while i was reading the promiscuous sex thread.
the wt always refers to masturbation as self abuse.
i googled it and came up with many sites that linked it to cutting oneself, but only a couple that linked those words to masturbation, one being a site about sda prophetess ellen white, and the other some religious site.. of course if you type in self pleasure then you get the masturbation links.

God confused peoples language so they couldn't build Babel....a load of crap!
by Witness 007 inyeah well, back in the day a group of people built a tower to heaven, so god confused their languages so they would not build a "mega city" and become powerful.. or if you want to used half a brain....languages evolved over time as a form of comunication between different tribes.
many languages are related, slavic or asian languages share the same or simular words.
oh and the cherry on top is adam and eve spoke yiddish.....ooie mashugana!

It seems that when that was written, people actually believed you could build a structure that would reach into the "heavens". Of course they didn't have airplanes, so the writer's viewpoint was narrow by today's standards.
Imagine a god so small minded that he would have to confuse them because if he didn't anything was possible for them just as the bible says. If there is a god and this is anything more than just a story, and if we are to believe the bible as his written word, it's obvious man doesn't need god.

"Inside a Cult" on NatGeo
by undercover ini watched a couple of episodes of "inside" on natgeo last night.
these two episodes were, "inside a cult" and followed the cult led by wayne bent (who calls himself michael travesser) who claims he is divinity and humanity in one and that he is the messiah.. the guy's a true whack job.
he prophesied the end of the world on october 31, 2007. guess what...it didn't happen, yet the majority of his followers remained.. bent went to jail for improper sexual contact with an underage girl who was in the cult.
