i swallowed and believed such much shit when i was a jw that i have a few more questions to ask anyone who has the answers.
the 144,000 is a big gripe of mine........ right, i was told that the 144,000 found out they were one of the anointed when they had a flash of "revelation" at some point and truly believed it or they had known since they were a child.

Example: Just in the last decade or so scientist and archeologists have found or unearthed evidence of the Hebrew language in North America among ruins of Native American land. Thus the rumors that sprang up about the lost tribe etc etc... Some people laugh at it but it really isn't so obsurd.
Could you please provide some references or links that will prove this?
remember when we were kid's at school, how we used to love to make up book titles with fictitious authors to match?.
this sort of thing:.
"the dangerous cliff" by eileen dover.. "the un-answered telephone" by isabelle ringing.. "bare-back horse riding" by major bumsaw.. the fad faded for a while only to surface in a re-generated form for "the simpsons".
How about take up a hobby with your son like fishing. Get up early every Sunday morning before your wife gets up and leave with him to fish. I can't think of many boys that would rather go to a boring meeting than go fishing.
hi, i'm 17 and i've just recently become a member of this website and i want you to know what has happened to me over the past months.back in sep/oct 2001 i started chatting to a 20 year old bloke via the internet and we developed a great friendship over the net.we would talk online for ages, text and phone each other loads,we sent each other photos of ourselves and he would often put his webcam on for me to see.before i knew it he played a great part in my everyday life...and i spent so much time chatting to him that my college work suffered a lot & i wasn't doing my coursework (i eventually got told to leave as i hadn't done loads of the assignments and stuff & had fallen behind).
after about 6 months we arranged to meet up (i made sure my parents were at home coz i know it's dodgy to meet people from the internet).anyway,he came round my house one evening in march and we got along soo well...he lives quite locally too which was good.our friendship then grew into a relationship and we started dating and going out together,i was sooo happy and i fell for him in a massive way & he said he felt the same way too.to me,he was a girls dream come true...he was kind,caring,fit,good-looking & gentle and i loved him to bits!,i still do,and i thought we'd be together forever.
something that i did find a bit strange though was i hadn't met his family yet or heard my boyfriend talk much about them.i would question him about his family but he seemed to get a bit funny about it and when i mentioned about meeting his family he said something along the lines of ''they're a bit strange, you might not like them'' (or something like that anyway).that got me thinking and i though prehaps they lived in a run-down place or something,or they wern't very nice people and i thought my b/f could be ashamed to let me meet them.i thought to myself to give him time & he'll see that i'm an understanding & nice person and hoped that he would soon come out and tell me what the problem was (thinking it was about what i've just mentioned).
I don't believe, I may be wrong,but last time I checked, dubs don't go on holiday--do they?
In many countries the term holiday is used to refer to what we call a vacation in the USA. Vacation is one of the definitions of holiday if you look it up in the dictionary.
I used to make a lot of JWs mad because I adopted the word holiday in place of vacation several years back. If someone had something to say about it I told them to look it up in the dictionary. No one ever came back.
one of the many teachings that troubled my conscience matthew 22:30. does this mean that after armageddon there will essentially be several different classes of people ie survivors (who may marry) and resurrected ones (who may not) and those born after armageddon (presumably who may)?
does this mean the resurrected ones will be sexless - like 'drones'?
surely then they will not be the same person that they were?
NO I think a real JW response would be something more like: God will tell us how it is when the time is right, it is not up to us to speculate on his purpose (meanwhile they do it all day long).[/B]
Tripple ditto!
But you see, THEY have the "Holy Spirit" tm (Dr Evil raises hands and moves fingers up and down) that allows them to speculate on the deeper things that us little earth dwellers can't understand and must wait on Jah to explain it to our little pea brains since we got no holy spirit.

The bible says "Death ends marriage" It's over at that point. You would have to find a new person to marry if your marriage partner got remarried to another after you died. It is over when one dies.
Another movie reference here, kind of like "castaway" his wife thought he was dead and moved on with her life. When he came back, it was over even though he still loved her and she loved him. New live begins, you will find someone new to love.
Of course all of this is based on the premise of WT theology of an earthly paradise and resurection after armegedon that I personally don't subscribe to any longer.
I must go for now..... cheers. -Stealth of the "YES nookie class"

but there it could be argued that the Sadducees, being Jews were talking about the expected resurrection in the flesh
Just because the Sadducees did not beleive the the heavenly resurection, why would Jesus tailor his reply based on what they believed if that was not the truth? Maybe Jesus was trying to introduce "new light" to these men and tell them that the resurection would be heavenly, knowing that this was the plan and why he was sent to earth to die.
I don't know, but it makes more sense to me than two classes of people on earth. Those who get to have marriage and those who don't. (with or without sex)

You bring up some interesting points however I think you may be missing the point. The scripture says nothing about sex, it talks about Marriage. As you point out sex is only a part of what bonds a couple together and you admit an important part. It has been proven that relationships based on sex alone don't last, there is much more to human relationships than sex. You said:
it may take a lot of faith to believe that God could well have something even more exciting than sex in the manner we know.
I have no doubt that God could give us some new light that may bring us more pleasure than sex. Remove sex from the issue and this is where I have a problem. A world that is based on two classes of peoples, one who make it through the big A and get to remain married, or even get married if single at the time, have a close relationship with another, companionship, connecting one on one.
Yet those who are resurected must remain unmarried and will be blessed with some new good thing that will replace the need for companionship and marriage. We now have two classes of people on earth. I wonder how the ones who will be allowed to marry will know not to get involved with the resurected ones who will not be allowed to have a marriage. Yes it takes quite a leep of faith for me to see how a god of love would set up this type of two class system.
So it may be best to simply leave the matter 'on hold'
