anyway i've been really noticing how at every meeting it seems there's yet another new thing that needs funding or another reminder to donate.

This is a good thing. I think when most mentally wake up, donating money to the org is the first thing that stops.
I didn't donate a dime during the last two years of still attending.
I hope the publishers are voting with their pocketbooks and they are becoming more desperate.

I will never forget when on a cold snowy winter day a homeless person walked into the Kingdom Hall saying he was hungry. I saw two elders approach this man, said we don't have any food, turn him around and send him back into the cold with instructions to go to YMCA.

Could a JW be DF for celebrating Festivus?

most likely no jws would come, but that's okay, it's a famiily holiday anyway.. what grounds would the elders have to disfellowship you?.

CONFESS or COVERUP

I have known only one elder who came clean and 'COFNESSED' that what happened in 1975 was true. But the majority that I asked would attempt the COVERUP.
