I grew up in a city of about 40,000 that was very racial. If a black family moved into the city limits they would be run out one way or another. In some cases, their houses were set on fire. This was in the late 60s early 70s. Many of the whites in town I would consider white trash type of people.

Most all blacks who lived in the area lived in the next town over (on the other side of the tracks). The high school that I atteneded did not have a single black student in it's 100 year history, until my senior year a black freshmen student moved in the nearby military housing. Even though the black schools were closer, he attended as the only black student amount hundreds of whites and took alot of crap over it.

During this time, there were several families who lived in this adjacent town who were JWs and attended the same congregation. From what I can remember, they were well accepted and we did associate and spend time with them outside the kingdom hall. I saw no racisim at this time.

However, several years later, after I moved away, almost the entire population of black families moved out of the congregation and started attending another that took 3 times longer to get there. The town where most of these JW lived was then moved to the territory of the congregations that they switched to.

Once that happened, I have been to my old congreation many times and there is not a single black JW there. My father was an elder at the time, so I will have to ask him what the scoop was on why they all left.

Should I marry a JW ?

i am new to the jw world, not one, but do love one.

met a man who down to the tee is amazing.

he is a great man, the only thing i am not so sure about is his "religious" beliefs.

There is something like 5 single JW women for every single JW man. And from the looks of the younger, attractive JW women paired up with some spiritual JW geeks, I tend to believe this statistic.

Along with the strict command to only merry in the lord...... I am puzzled why a JW man would even seek a relationship outside the religion?

My best guess, is A) He is not a very commited JW, or B) It's sex that he can't get from JW women, without his head rolling.

The translation of the greek word for 'brand marks' is Tattoo. If my memory serves me correct the margin reference in the NWT even makes reference back to the scripture in Leviticus 19:28.

First they quote Leviticus 19:28, on mosaic law for no tattoo.... then they say...

While Christians today are not under the Law of Moses, the prohibition it laid on tattooing is sobering.

If it is so sobering, would not the very verse just before it be just as sobering?

Leviticus 19:27

"You must not cut your sidelocks short around, and you must not destroy the extremity of your beard."

Yet the WT has a ban on growing beards! If tattooing should be considered sobering because it was in the law, then so should shaving,should it not?

No, the WT likes to cherry pick the scritpures it wants to control the rank and file while ignoring the others that go against their man made rules.

And they never mention that Paul had a tattoo.

i know an ms who was talking to a bro from bethel who said that there was big stuff coming and big changes.
