Jewelry advice
by TD inas every married man knows (or should know) anniversaries where the number ends in either zero or five are more special and important than all the others.
your 20th is somehow more special than the 19th) anyhow, i've got one of those "magic number" anniversaries coming up and am thinking about jewelry.
any advice for getting the most bang for your buck?

If you are considering a diamond, buy used. Diamonds don't wear out! If you buy used you can save 80% over retail.
Meet at a public Jewlers, most will let you look at it under a scope and will verify that it is in fact real or fake. Have the used diamond re-mounted in a new custom built *new* ring.
The retail markup on diamonds is just crazy. Don't do it. If you are not familiar with how diamonds are graded by color, clarity and size, you will want to do some research on that first.
My last used diamond purchase was $900 for a 1.66 ct princes cut stone that had a very small chip on the top edge. Had the stone recut down to 1.51 ct for $300 and mounted in a new ring. It apprased for $13,000 but I only have $2,000 investment.
This approach does require a time factor that you may not have.

My advice to any on the fence is, leave now and never look back.
I know of no exJW that ever wished they spent more time staying in.
Good for you, enjoy the awesome journey of the real life.

HELP! How do I FADE without being DF'D??
by doubtful ini'm in a tough position.
i gave my last talk as an ms a couple of weeks ago, and i haven't been out in field service in well over a month.
i "came out" to the closest people in my life...namely my gf and mother...i was also recently asked to step down from being a servant - largely because my heart was no longer in it and i couldn't stomach going from door to door peddling magazines and other literature full of lies and logical fallacies.

The depression will buy you some time. If you get the urge to attend a meeting, be sure to show up with a beard. This will irritate them, but there is nothing they can do to you for having a beard. They will label you one with a B.A. (Bad attitude). Then rub it in their face and go out in field service with the beard and ask to work with some of the elders or MS. That gets others in the congregation talking and asking questions like whats really wrong with beards? Jesus had one right? I had many pubs tell me that it really looked good on me and they did not understand why JWs can't have them.
This makes the elders so uncomfortable, but have no basis for it, that they will be glad to see you leave and not come back.
If you make any comments at a WT study, talk about JESUS a lot. Only comment on paragraphs where you can mention Jesus. This weirds them out too for some reason.
Then just stop coming one day, they will be so happy to see you gone.
I did this 10 years ago and no one has ever attempted to contact me since my last visit to the KH and my phone number has never changed.
Good advice from Metatron!!!!!

I participate in a couple of other discussion forums that would never tolerate much of what is allowed here. Non JW/XJW posters get warned and/or banned all of the time, without all of the whining that goes on this forum when it happens here.
IMO the 'Your just like the elders or JW' card gets over played on this forum.

I went to the hall, there was less people there than last year (dont know the exact amount but it was significantely less),
It would be great to start seeing the numbers to this event start trending downward.

Went to AA meeting last night
by digderidoo inabout twelve months ago i came to the realisation that i am an alcoholic.. for the past year i have been having breaks from the drink of about a week at a time but as i cannot deal with stress well i always seem to turn to alcohol as an escape.. i have realised the last few weeks that i need help to stop drinking but do not want that stigma of attending aa meetings or getting counselling for my addiction.. yesterday i decided to phone the aa and so attended a meeting last night where i found to my surprise many people who were going through the same process as me but had decided not to carry on turning to drink.. i dont know if many in the us understand the culture of drinking and pubs in britain?
but it is an integral part of uk society, friday and saturday nights are all about going out and having a good time drinking as much as we can.
so for an alcoholic it can be a nightmare.. i just wanted to share this with and would like to continue to post in the future about it.. yours paul.

You have to respect other religions opening up their doors to groups like AA & NA. If you struggle with a problem like this with the JWs all you get is kicked to the curb.
This was one of the early signs to me that JWs were not true christians. They are more worried about their own image than to help hurting souls.

Being Turned In By Family
by SlipnSlide ini have read a lot of posts regarding spouses turning the other in to the jw police.
if it happened to me, i don't think that i could forgive my husband if he did this.
i would never do this to any member of my family, especially my husband.

Do you appreciate the sacrifices brothers made in 1927 so that we can preach on Sundays?
by miseryloveselders inthe may 2011 km has an article on page 2 entitled, "could you share in the ministry on sundays?
1. it was the sabbath, a day when most jews in philippi rested.
paul and his companions were visiting the city during one of their missionary tours.

4. If we use a portion of Sunday for the ministry, we wil still have time to get the rest that we need.
Statements made by people who;
1. Don't have to clean their house.
2. Don't have to prepare or cook meals.
3. Don't have to clean up the kitchen after meals.
4. Don't have to wash, dry, fold laundry.
5. Don't have to do any lawn care.
6. Don't have to give attention to children, or help with school assignments.
Just because they would not have anything else to do on Sundays but sit on their thumbs, doesn't mean that people in the real world do. Nice of them to let me know how much rest I need.
Out of touch morons!
