My father is a JW for 40 years and he is the most negative persion that I have ever knows. There is so much negativity in the religion that I think it has become part of his core. Everyone who is not a JW are incompetent idiots, dumb. I never hear him say anything positive about someone who is not a JW.

Definition of "Negativity" according to JWs
by LongHairGal ini recently had a falling-out with a jw which i won't go into because it is nonsense really.
in one of the pathetic retorts i was told i was "negative".
this wasn't the first time i heard this from a jw over the years.. what i have noticed is that it is because i spoke about real life situations in the world and/or problems and wrong things in the religion.

Good to study JW past .... New "Writing Archives" under direction of the Writing Committee
by wannabefree inyes friends, it is important to understand your rich spiritual heritage as jehovah's witnesses, and so you don't have to look at old publications on your own or refer to worldly sources, the organization is pleased to select for you the history as we want you to have it and you can get it in your current watchtower.. from january 15, 2012 watchtower pg 31-32. the governing body is keenly interested in.
our theocratic history.

JW Hostages: Ray Franz
by compound complex into this day, in all countries, any persons among jehovah's witnesses who find they cannot conscientiously support fully the organization's teachings or practices live in a climate of fear, feeling they must constantly be on guard as to what they say, what they do, what they read, with whom they associate, from whom they receive letters, not feeling any sense of freedom even when among personal friends or close relatives if these are also witnesses.
as stated, in my personal experience i have had people phone who were afraid to give their name or who felt it necessary to use a fictitious name, some who even felt it necessary to take out a special post office box to be able to correspond without danger of their correspondence with me or other former witnesses being discovered.
they face a form of "hostage" situation, produced by the organization's authority.

When I heard about Ray Franz first book , Crisis of Conscience I wanted to read it but felt the 'climate of fear' on just even what I read. I was in such fear that instead of checking out the book from the university library, for fear of there being a paper trail that I check out 'apostate books', I went to the library during my work lunch period and read a portion of the book in a back corner of the library everyday for a month.
Today, I am so glad that I took those first steps that eventually released me from those who held me hostage!

watchtower will dissapear... now live your life.
by cyberjesus ini was watching this history channel show regarding the earth that was talking about the ice ages and the fact we live right now between ice ages and the fact that one is due soon (in several thousand years).... if you take the fact that our time is literally microscopic in the timeline of the planet....... and you realize we worry regarding the life span of the wt and when it is gonna end..... well we are wasting our time.
the wt is gonna dissapear.
trust me it will, along with all the civilization as we know them.... eventually all we have its gonna be gone.. so the question is... should we spend our precious minutes debating when the wt is gonna be gone?

What do most of us personally know about our own family members beyond our grand or great grand parents?
In 200 years, nobody on earth will even know that any of us even existed nor any of our loved ones trapped in the watchtower world.
All we have is the here and now.
As cyber said, until they are ready to break the bonds, there is nothing we can do to help them. If that happens, I will be there for them.
Until then.... Live and let live.

Should There be a Petition Asking the Watchtower Society to Retract its "Mentally Diseased" Statements?
by DT inof course, i would be very surprised if the watchtower society ever retracted or apologised for anything.
still, it could gain a lot of publicity and put pressure on them to curb their hate speech.
if they refuse to apologise, it could demonstrate that those statements were intentional and not just a slip of the printing press.

The WT has never retracted anything, why would they start now?
Also, the out is, they were just quoting the bible, if others can't deal with that, they can suck it as far as the WT is considered.

Credit Card Donation terminals are currently being installed in JWs Assembly Halls...
by AndersonsInfo ini received the following email from a former jw that i thought to share.
note: i retyped the boe letter that was sent from the christian congregation of jehovahs witnesses to all congregations in the us.
the letter is authentic.

This just in... The WT still prefers CASH or CHECKS over credit/debit card transactions. Otherwise they will have to pay 3% to greedy buisness institutions controlled by Satan.

mistakes will happen.
concerned jw, if mistakes will happen, i was wondering what mistakes you feel the jw organization is currently making?

SBC,
Good points, and as they bragged of the all-time peaks in publishers & Pioneers in the years prior to 1975, the flip side is the mass exidous that took place in the years following 1975. These are statistics the prove the culpability of the governing body in the whole 1975 fiasco.
I seem to also remember a KM that made a statement of 'Months NOT years' left in this system. Can someone provide that quote if my memory is correct?

Welcome JB.
If you can get him to open up his mind and see his religion as the sham that it is, you have hope. If you can't do that, then leave, or you will only have regrets. Do you really want to be married to someone who will let your child die before giving him life saving blood?
Also, why should he wait until after the marriage in order to get baptized? If he really thinks is the truth, why hold back? You have a right to see how his marriage to the religion might impact your relationship before you commit. He wants it both ways.
