many thanks to stephanus for getting this started and all the hard work putting together the 'whos who' site.. i've added an additional box to the profile page where you can enter a short biography (plain text - no formatting yet).
this is displayed when people click on your profile link (the 'membership card' icon under you poster name).
i will add a link to the member listing page to indicate people who have biographies with a link to display them.. let me know if you have any problems.

i read this article in the scottsdale tribune today.
i thought some of it was worthwhile, some of it biased.
this person obviously doesn't know anyone that had to make the difficult step of leaving a high-control religious group like the mormons.

also what does it mean for a company if you buy shares , are they relient on the share holder , do they have a say in the buisness?.
I can't imagine the society would exercise too interventionist a hand even if they did own a controlling majority in a public company. Could you see them running McDonalds into the ground because of blood in the hamburger patties if they had controlling interest? After all, it'd be stupid to run a company into the ground by (albeit consistently) applying their bullshit moralising to something which brings in the dollars. We all know how they regard material wealth (in their hands, anyway).

its apparent that a number of people on this site have read eric hoffers "true believer" .did anyone find hoffers "3 monarchs" theory as spooky as i did?
( pages 130 thru 160 of the book).
hoffer says that a movement is founded by a "man of words".this man is a writer,highly regarded as such and is often a charismatic person.he is an intellectual who speaks out about the corruption of the established order.. sounds like pastor russell to me.. after this founder, the movement is taken over by a fanatic, (second ruler ).here is hoffers description of this man, on page 153:.
I've noticed that every successful cult has always had a second leader who grew the org from the base begun by its founder. They were often more ruthless than the founder, probably due to resistance by those loyal to the originator. The second person is usually the really interesting one. The SDAs have Ellen G White, the Mormons Brigham Young, the Christadelphians have Robert Roberts and of course, Rutherford has been mentioned!

i just returned home from the hospital.
my sister in law had a mis- carriage today.
it was a very sad day for her and my wifes family.
I'd not be too judgemental. People don't always know what to say, not having been through the stuff, so they try to say something that they think is comforting. When my daughter died some tried to comfort me by saying things like "At least you don't have to suffer through the pain of her teenage years and boyfriends and what-not!" I understood that they were talking from total ignorance of the realities of such a bereavement and I forgave them as such...
