Interesting article on Biblical accuracy
by Jon Preston inappearance of camels in genesis called sign of authors' distance from history.biblical scholars have long been aware many of the stories and accounts in the sacred book were not written by eyewitnesses, and according to new research, further evidence of that historical distance has appeared in the form of a hump-backed camel.. new research using radioactive-carbon dating techniques shows the animals weren't domesticated until hundreds of years after the events documented in the book of genesis.the research was published by erez ben-yosef and lidar sapir-hen, archaeologists from tel aviv university in israel.
they believe camels were not domesticated in the eastern mediterranean until the 10th century b.c.. and yet, the hump-backed creatures are mentioned repeatedly alongside abraham, jacob and isaac, indicating the bible's writers and editors were portraying what they saw in their present as how things looked in the past, says a new york times article by john noble wilford:.
these anachronisms are telling evidence that the bible was written or edited long after the events it narrates and is not always reliable as verifiable history.

Camels evolved in the Americas. They crossed the land bridge that formed during the ice ages in the modern day Berring Strait between Alaska and Siberia.
They were wiped out by human migrants into the Americas around 10000 years ago and survived only in their 'new' home in the Middle East, North Africa, and Western Asia.
That's science, folks.
Who cares what the bible says.

NWT alteration of Genesis 3:6
by Pronger1 inhere is genesis 3:6 from the nasb translation which is in line with other translations.. 6 when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.. here is genesis 3:6 from the new world translation.. 6 consequently, the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was something desirable to the eyes, yes, the tree was pleasing to look at.
so she began taking of its fruit and eating it.+ afterward, she also gave some to her husband when he was with her, and he began eating it.. the nwt leaves out part of eve's desire to eat the fruit.. "desirable to make one wise".. what is the purpose of altering the translation to leave out this important point?.

More advise needed, please.
by Crazyguy inok just an update but i was able to rescind my da letter and the elders after meeting with me, took my excuse and encouraged me to rejoin the congregation.
i would love to share with you the theocratic warfare strategy i used to explain away my da letter but that may identify me to easily.
but any way they could of really put me over the coals on one area of the letter which was changed a bit from the one i posted her so that makes me think these guys really want me back then gone.

Here's some advice for you:
Advise is a verb.
Advice is a noun.
Advice is what you give to someone when you advise them.
Got it?

I get the flu shot every year. In Australia it's provided free if you want it. I have never had any reaction at all. I also never get sick.
This year I spent Christmas in the US and got the worst flu I've ever had. Still suffering after three weeks.
Weird!

I think it's you, Designs, that is missing the point.
The psychology of cultish behavior is well understood. The Watchtower Society exhibits all the traits associated with extremist cults. They are able to tear families apart, and make their members feel justified at doing so. They are able to convince loving parents to allow their children to die rather than to allow them life saving treatment. All to uphold the Watchtower's authority.
The JW mindset is that the society comes before all others. Including your closest family. That is unnatural and very dangerous, as the OP points out.
So stop defending them.

Lyrebird - Hoax Or Not?
by metatron inhttp://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2014/02/absurd-creature-week-lyrebird/.
what sounds can a lyrebird accurately reproduce?
there are spoofs and hoaxes but also reported evidence that they can make some amazing sounds.

I have heard lyrebirds imitate the calls of dozens of different birds. They are the most superb mimics of all the birds.
Once when I was on a an extended bushwalk in the Kanangra-Boyd National Park, southwest of Sydney, it was mating season for lyrebirds. I heard and saw a great many lyrebirds. I was fortunate enough to get very close to one bird as he was preoccupied with clearing his stage in the bush. I watched him from fairly close range as he started to run through his repitoir of other bird's calls. On and on he went, calling out in perfect imitation of all the other bird calls. From little finches and wrens right through to magpies and crows. It was an amazing thing to witness..
I have personally never heard them make any sounds other than bird calls, but they are well known to imitate humans and human sounds.

What's the Watchtower's View of Dedicating Your Time To Charity? Food-bank, Helping Poor Get Benefits, Big Brother, ect..
by RottenRiley indo you know of anyone who sucessfully dedicated time to charity without getting bad mouthed by witness elders?
we had a sister in creepside congregation who got a lot of lip when she was working for the food bank for free.
the jehovah's witnesses elders hinted, used the watchtower study to say "jehovah's people are ambassadors to satan's world and know the real solution is god's kingdom".
