I think you might have run off the rails semantically with this line of reasoning Garbonzo. This sentence makes no sense. You can teach anyone anything. And when you do they learn it. Don't matter if its religion, or evolution, or quantity surveying.
How can you learn something if you aren't taught it? You say you know about evolution. If you do then it was taught to you.
i was shown a hard copy of an email from a purported jw businessman who claimed he had contact with some un officials as part of his 'business'.
in conversation, he claimed that he blurted out and asked them when they were going to clamp down on religion as foretold in jw prophecy.
according to the account, the un official acted startled, and asked 'how do you know?'.
If anyone actually believes that then I have a friend in Nigeria who has come into a large amount of money. Unfortunately the law prevents him from taking the funds out of the country. But if you just email me your bank account details he will very generously share his wealth with you....
why were we so suprised people did not join in droves!

Every religion uses the this same basic coercive threat to gull people into becoming worshipers. Despite your spin PSac, the result is still the same. You can window dress it as love but ultimately it is still grounded in fear. The message is still the same: worship god how I/we tell you or you die/go to hell etc.
I guess the thing that make JWs stand out from the pack on this one is the rest of the Christian religions believe they're all going to heaven away from the carnage. JWs are gonna be right here among all the bodies and man there's gonna be a lot of bodies!

who is to say the "two witnesses" from revelation are not symbolic?
when we are dealing with revelation how can anyone as wrong as the watchtower society be so dogmatic about doctrines when it's been shown jesus christ has not revealed the "secrets that would be hidden until the last days"?
for all i know, my opinion on this matter is as good as anyone elses opinion.

i apologize for not writing much of anything in several weeks.. did you miss me?

i am doing pretty good now after going through the worst year of my 60 years of life... but in order to make some changes that will enable me to keep working, i really had to take time off to take care of medical issues (mostly my spine - destroyed after 30 years spending 10-12 hours a day on the computer).

The wts may have tried to say that. But they are wrong in this just as the wrong in every other thing they say. They were sufficiently anatomically different from modern humans to be classified this way. To argue that Neanderthals were merely a race of modern humans is to completely ignore the scientific evidence.
Interestlingly there now seems there were a number of species of Homo that were contempories of modern humans. H. floresiensis was a small human that lived up till about 15000 years again what is now Indonesia. And a number of other species are also being researched at the moment.

i know jehovah's witnesses do not teach the rapture (except maybe for the 144,000) so all of them expect to live through the tribulation (whatever that was to them).
The rapture has happened already. May 22 2011 I recall. It began with a series of earthquakes and the dead rose up from the grave. And there was mass panic and society collapsed. Planes crashed as their pilots were taken to heaven. And the world as we know ended that fateful day.
Or maybe nothing happened and it was all the dreams of a demented sicko, Harold Camping.
SO the only thing real about the rapture is the misery Camping bought to all those gullible people who believed his prophetic diarrhea. Many gave up their jobs and sold their homes so they could devote their final days to preaching and warning that the world was about to end.
