what a waste of living being "in the truth" was!

sometimes i see persons suggesting that the witness religion isn't all so wrong.

actually they suggest that they themselves are the issue.

I refused to accept that JWs were a cult when I first came here but the evidence, as it was presented,especially by Farkel, made me see the reality. At the time, I thought he was being hard on me and a few others in this regard, but I thank him and others for making me see clearly what a cult is and why JWs are defined as such.

I have to give a thumbs up on thiis one too. I had not looked INTO the definition of a cult when I was a JW and took the WTS word for it (like everything else) by their own WTS dictionary that has far different definitions that any standard or accepted dictionary I might add! It was not until I saw the Lifton's Criteria on cult behavior, did my eyes begin to see the real strong similarities in cults and how they deceive. Between that and the documented evidence about the real reason for the "donation arrangement" (LIES from the "truth") and the problems with the Malawi/Mexico behavior....these three were enough to convince me I had indeed made THE biggest mistake of my life by hooking up with and devoting my LIFE TO the WTS.

Back in the pre-JWD days when I was hanging out on H20---Farkel was the major influence on me (as infuriated as he made me at times, LOL) but I was still a loyal Jdub at the time I firstt found that forum, and thought he was insufferable! I began to see that what he said MADE SENSE when I checked it out. He soon became the first poster I looked for when I logged on......and he taught me a lot. He DID help me to realize that the WTS was nothing but bullcrap, haha!

Vinny---I just sent you a PM on the latest doings around here! I try not to beat myself up over all the mistakes I have allowed myself to make but sometimes the reality of it all comes around to smack you in the face again in a new way....unfortunately, the WTS ripple effect lives on in a lot of our lives. Many of us will reflect in different ways on what our own experiences were, but we are ALL in agreement that we are happy to BE out!

We have only ONE family member loyal to the GB, (my oldest daughter) and at a recent big family picnic, my kids were marvelling over the fact that the rest of us were relaxing and sitting around a campfire on a gorgeous summer evening and ENJOYING EACH OTHER'S COMPANY despite what church they went to or what their beliefs were. We had some great conversations with no one getting upset or antsy and then we moved on to other topics. Nobody was EXPECTED to agree with what anyone else felt or believed and it was terrific.

That one remaining members name was brought up....and we all agreed that it was too bad that she has chosen to cut us ALL out of her life. She has zero contact with anyone in the family and does not CARE to be involved with what her nieces, nephews, brothers and sister are DOING with their lives and knowing the wonderful accomplishments that they have struggled to achieve. ALL for a phony life devoted to an even more phony cult. Her own flesh and blood mean nothing. It almost seems as if she is not human or capable of human emotions. SHE is to be pitied. Someday it will all hit her in the face.

I am SO grateful I came to my senses and got OUT of the WTS! Thirty years was a long time to give to a cult....and I do firmly believe it IS a cult. The JWs like to boast about their huge 3% increase last year.....I would love to know how many LEFT during that same time period and are FREE!

Yes...there IS something to be said about this blending of the minds of total fruitcakes and the beliefs of the Watchtower cult. Not that there isn't enough oddball and peculiar stuff being taught by the men in Brooklyn as "indisputable truth".....but to wrap THAT around the minds of the mentally disturbed....well....from what I can see....you have just seen the results.

I totally agree with this. The VERY few "benefits gained" from this nutty and very repetitive lifestyle.....far outweigh any "plusses" that you MIGHT end up with in the end.

I only feel the keen loss of so many years that I devoted to the WTS and what I put my kids through, raising them in this hideous excuse for a religion. I can never play enough "catch-up" to make up for all the hurt I have caused my family although there have been some wonderful advances recently being made in this area. I realize it is somewhat counter-productive, but at my age now, I often wonder just what direction our lives would have taken if I had NOT been caught up in all the clever WTS teachings. All families have their problems, but the WTS super-complicates things that other families are never even forced to deal with.

My best advice is to NOT EVEN LET JWs into the house to "chat" about their message, but then, I would guess that most folks that come here have already come to this conclusion.

Despite my friends telling me I was an intelligent person that was buying into the clever WTS crap at age 30---I allowed myself to be manipulated and persuaded to do things I would never have done and to act hateful towards those I would never have done so if not for the direction and guidance of the men who write their poisoned information for the WTS.

I dropped all of my nonJW friends and shunned those in my family that wised up and left the cult, and 30 years later ALL my JW friends and relatives dropped ME when my conscience showed me that I could not go on believing the WTS was "the truth" when they clearly proved they were not what they claimed. The irony was that they never WERE what they claimed to be. I had to learn to begin all over again....to trust others and to find the Jesus I knew was there all along.

I CLEARLY understand that the WTS is total and complete bullcrap.

I was a big Mo Vaughn fan and an ever bigger Johnny Damon fan. (It still hurts me to see games where Damon is playing for the Yankees.) Johnny doesn't even LOOK LIKE Johnny any more.

I am glad that Papi is finally back from his arm injury. 45 games is a big chunk to miss.

Does anyone know if Garciaparra still goes through his pre-batting ritual of fiddling and fooling with his wristwear? It was borderline obsessive/compulsive behavior and used to look extremely strange, LOL!

Anyhoo, I am a proud member of the Red Sox Nation, having been born and raised in Massachusetts. Like being Irish---it doesn't change just because I moved to the state of NY!

It is great to see that she is doing well and able to sit up in the chair for an hour at a time. Sometimes after an ordeal, this is as difficult as climbing a mountain!

If they have not done so as yet, see if the hospital will bring her Jello she can smush around to make it go down smoothely----often their applesauce can seem a bit tart and make the tastebuds water do funny things that make one uncomfortable......and Jello has more pleasant taste anyway.

I am sorry I have not been on JWD very often but I have thought about your dear wife every day since I read what you had been writing concerning her.

I understand about the medical bills....I have been operated on and otherwise hospitalized many times in the past few years and hubby says he cannot BELIEVE all these people treated me every time! We have decided that anyone that pops their head into the room (even to look at a clock) is eligible to send out a bill. Half the time I was unconscious when someone came in and stood at the end of my bed....I never saw them even if they "saw" me! As one poster said you can only pay what you are able to pay.

I pray your wife's health progresses and that she will soon be home with yuo.

You Don't Want to Tell People About Jehovah?

told hubby that i won't go out in service because i believe that the preaching work was already done in the 1st century.. he said "you don't want to tell people about jehovah?".

i said "no".

i also said that when we move i have no intentions of going back to the kh.

Christians should be preaching (and telling about) Jesus....and that putting faith in HIM leads to our salvation!

The bible tells US that there is only ONE NAME that is above ALL OTHERS....and that is Jesus Christ. (Phil. 2:9-10) It only makes sense that it would be HIM that anyone would be preaching about!

JWs boast that only THEY will be hated and persecuted for preaching the Good News....but they seldom even MENTION Jesus....but preach Jehovah at every turn. They have taken the name Jehovah ......and they MEET in the name of Jehovah...HOW can they possibly feel that they will be HATED for preaching Jesus Christ when they rarely speak of him?

"Where two or three are gathered in MY name (Matt 18:20) there I will be"......is that name Jesus....or Jehovah?

According to the bible itself....what IS the only name we need to look at for salvation....and whose name is it that the JWs are going to the doors to preach?

The next time JWs come to YOUR door...politely ask them about this.
