Husband addressed himself as "Used to be a JW"
by UBM101 inwhen asked about his religion & belief, he would tell people that his family are jws, and he used to be one.
but still he is very much against christmas and birthdays.
he seems to have no issue with new year.

I agree with smiddy. I've spoken to many ex JWs in my area and most will say that the JWs "have something" but they couldn't live up to it. When I point of they don't and it's all lies some have expressed relief others have backed off and not wanted to discuss it. Perhaps the thought of holding onto a belief system however flawed helps some, I'm not sure why myself but everyone's different.

Disassociation
by evilone inhi all, i haven't posted here in quite some time.. just as an update, about two years ago, my wife and i moved to a big city about 500 miles away from the town in which we grew up.
we made this move in part to expedite the fading process, which was successful.
when we moved, as i described in an earlier post, we formally transferred from our home cong (where our families are) to a local cong in our new city, and then transferred twice more so as to get lost in the shuffle.

JWs love to gossip, if your names are announced they will say, "who was that?" and start digging. Through 6 degrees of separation it'll happen, I'm waiting to see it happen in my case. Just about everyone in the country I'm in that last came into contact with the last 20 years know about my announcement. My family live in a different country but I've not doubt news will get through to them.

I want to send a nice note to my sister
by Faithful Witness init's been about 5 weeks, since my sister sent me the email telling me she no longer wants to communicate with me (at this time).. i was never a jw, so i am not going to agree to those crazy terms.
i explained to her that she can do what she wants, but i will continue to be kind, and that i forgive her cruel treatment toward me.. i have given her some space, and i feel like i am ready to send her another note.
instead of bringing up any hard feelings of today, i was going to share some memories that i have of our early, pre-jw days.

Are You Comfortable With Who You Now Are?
by minimus inmany jws are misfits and many that were raised as jws find it difficult to be "normal".
are you comfortable with yourself at this point in time?.

You'll experience no love that day! I like your friends, postpone it, delay it, or even ask if it is actually required and say you are a little stressed just now (that could explain your little explosion at your mum).

Welcome impala63rag, you have had a lucky escape. Your thirst for knowledge of the Bible has saved you, as you can see for yourself the WT publications are using scriptures to suit themselves and deceive. I would be surprised if you see these so-called friends for much longer after having told them of your concerns. Why not go to the meeting and put up your hand and give your opinion as you have above? I guarantee you after the first time they take you they will look embarrassed and not ask you again, these people are supposed to answer strictly to the paragraph in question and not according to personal opinion.

TATTOOS and da troof - DOES the babble teach what WT claims?
by hamsterbait inthey love to quote the verse "you must not make tattoo markings upon yourself," to "prove" that witlesses should not have body art.. yet the word tattoo is maori in origin.
how the hell did moses know a maori word???.
in every other translation it says you must not make cutting marks.

Rattigan350, what an open minded view you have! Surely it is someone's personal choice. Dangerous? No. Permanent? Yes. Non-productive? No. Many people get these to mark something of great meaning to them and are proud to have them.
