I did it !!!!
by snare&racket in7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

I'm not trying to brag, but being an EXJW is awesome!!! Status Update-
by Coffee House Girl inhello jwn!
i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.

Chat with Elder, how would you reply?
by awakening inhad a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.
we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.
his response was the gb is imperfect!!

His point was that Jehovah would have known what was in Judas heart but allowed Jesus to select him, thus proving that Jehovah allows his people to make mistakes but will sort it out in line with his purpose!
So he believes in predestination?!

Judas wasn't put in charge of feeding spiritual food to millions of people would be my tactful reply. I am not aware of Judas having any followers so the argument has no legs

Been through so much!
by MissConfused inits been a while that i came here due to so many ups and downs emotionally.. :(.
crazy that the family is so divided now that we cannot sit and talk (even though we pretend while attending meetings).
all i can think is this line from hotel california - "you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"... love the family so much that dont feel like hurting them.. this is killing me.. regards, miss confused!.

I'm sure there are many families who put on a happy act for the meetings and don't get on outside them. It doesn't make sense to me, I'm the person who points out the elephant in the room, but it doesn't always mean everyone else wants to.
Be true to yourself, and be aware of the consequences.

Wolves in sheep's clothing
Or
The happiest people were tricked.
My book would be biographical, perhaps each chapter dedicated to a different person.

I need some urgent advice, please!!
by alonein321 inhere's my story.
i'm 24 years old and i live in brazil.
i'm a 3rd gen born-in jw and all close relatives in the borg (parents, grandparents, uncles, wife, inlaws) except my little sister (she's 16 and didnt buy jw doctrine).

Welcome, some great advice above I can only reiterate. If you want to save her it will take time. If you think she is better with her family around her, it could be time to move on if there are no children involved .

If I DA this way......
by Jon Preston inif i wrote a letter of da to the congregation that only said i was da'ing with absolute zero reason.
how do you think theyd respond?
obviously an anouncement but im sure rumours would then start.
-
happy@last
Hi Jon, I get what you are saying and yes you do not have to give a reason. I DA'd as i had been a "high profile" JW and no longer wanted any dealings with them, no interaction at all, fading worked for a couple of years but then they still wanted to poke their noses into my business and it seems enjoyed spying from a distance.
