A good dub needs an early night for morning ministry or meeting, therefore going out for a meal and home early is about the most fun you are allowed.

What's with this "no windows in kingdom halls" thing?
by Trapped in JW land ini hear many people on this forum say that kh's don't have windows.
but i have never been to one that didn't have windows.
is this only in a certain area or something?.

I seem to recall the excuse was because of vanadalism and no need to have windows because it would affect the aircon!

Naked Gun - absurdly funny!
by sparrowdown inoh i do enjoy a good laugh.
i watched the naked gun movie last night i was surprised at.
how funny it still is or maybe i was just in the mood for some silliness.

I really liked the shows before Naked Gun, they were called Police Squad. Well worth looking up. A lot of the humour was visual as well as spoken.

life after the wtbts
by Hortensia inyou can't move forward to a new, more interesting, possibly much happier life, if you're still looking behind at the former life.. there is so much obsession on here about what the wtbts is doing, and discussing all the forms of injustice and bullshit in the wtbts, or how to bring down the wtbts.
yes, their doctrines are crazy and they are a cult and cruel to boot.
move on.

There is life after WTBTS, and I am sure many are making the best of it. For many who have family still trapped they cannot be entirely free from the pain it has inflicted. Perhaps for others it is a form of therapy, a bit like Alcoholics Anonymous.

If you find me in a gloom.
by new hope and happiness inif you find me in a gloom, or catch me in a dream.
here inside my lonely room there is no in between.. those are opening lyrics of a song " whispering pine" by the band.. such a beautiful sang with an element of pain by richard manuel.. anyway " if you find me in a gloom, or catch me on a dream" what is a " gloom" ?
it ia a new tragity that awaits round the corner.. how about a thread of great songs with words in the lyrics that have meaning we dont understand?.

More Money For JW.ORG
by The Searcher inmy apologies if this topic has previously been spotlighted.. the following is a portion of the the recent money-grabbing letter from jw.org.
it's on page 4 - one of the three pages which only the elders were allowed to read.. "surplus funds: is it necessary to save congregation funds for future construction or major renovation projects?
what should be done with excess congregation funds that are currently being held or that may accumulate in the future?
-
happy@last
The elders of congregations having funds on deposit with the branch office should review the balance of such funds and decide if these can be donated in full or in part to the worldwide work
Really! So no longer loaning the funds to assist with a view to getting it back if required, consider donating it. This is no doubt to prelude the next letter which will say, all funds on loan will be kept as donations, if you need your money donate more.

"Christmas is all they have to live for"
by stillin inthis is on of my wife's many-times-repeated expressions about the hilidays, especially when she has an audience that includes non-believers.
i find it offensive even though i still don't celebrate christmas.
here's another one, "and it's all based on lies!".

Your grand daughter has it right! We said exactly the same going into a street last night with no trees, all JWs! LOL.
All JWs have to live for is a New System that will never materialise, I'd prefer to live for something real.

What Will U Spend For XMas This Year?
by minimus ini think most exjws are frugal when it comes to xmas.
what is your budget for gift giving?.
-
happy@last
I moved into a new home this year away from the 'matrimonial' house so had to spend a small fortune getting everything, literally everything new. Except for my Christmas decorations and clothes! That said I've spent about £1000 this year on pressies. I'm the only one getting my kids presents and having one or two under the tree for them wouldn't sit right with me, they have to have a few each!

After all, JWs were RIGHT!
by abiather in1) science and technology appeared as a savior to mankind, yet the overall result points to the opposite direction.. http://aeon.co/magazine/science/why-has-human-progress-ground-to-a-halt/.

I recall an illustration that used to get used over and over to warn of the dangers outside JW land, if you had a glass of refreshing water with just a little poison in it would you drink it? Apply it to JW, if it seems by appearance to be okay and yet they have consistently lied since their inception, would you think it's okay?

Be honest post do all posters on this site believe the bible is 100% or has flaws?
by booker-t inwe in the psychology/sociology field have a saying "when people protest too loud usually they are overcompensating".
i did not understand that when i first started studying psychology but now i understand it completely and it is so true.
when i hear someone constantly bashing something or someone such as gay bashing or ethnic bashing or religion bashing sometimes i wonder what are they hiding.

If read correctly as a historical book then it is a good read. I highly recommend reading: Reading the Bible Again For the First Time: Taking the Bible Seriously But Not Literally
