she taught me to cook. she was only a good mother the last 6 years of her life, so she taught me, even tho she didnt know it, I could change also. she was severly depressed most of her life and did not admit it until she was on her death bed. thanks wtbts! (sarcasm)

i may be straightforward and describe things in terms i have learned since reading about cults, but i was not over the top in any way.
i was simply stating the facts in a way that did not try to put any positive spin on anything.. my family member said, "so they are basically the amish but with televisions and electricity.

A few years ago I worked with the Amish in a restaurant. Every night after our shift someone would need to volunteer to take home a couple of sisters that were Amish and I always was happy to do it. On our ride home one night we engaged in conversation about shunning. The girls had a brother that had left the Amish and he was shunned, by the parents, but they said that they didn't follow that rule and talked to him anyway. In fact the older sister was wanting to go to college because they only go to grade 8. She jumped those hoops and did it. Actually? She was the young girl on the TV series not that long ago. I have to agree they are alot like the JW's, but I really enjoyed working with them. (I did worked for a JW once and hated it!) So.......wow.......maybe this is an Amish success story?

I came here due to an older sibling that had begun to "study again" (even tho they were a born- in baptized dfed in the 80's like myself) I kinda knew the history, Russell, Franz etc......but thought I would give the wts the benefit of the doubt. I Started with the NWT and the rest was history. I have no idea why I started there but it seemed a good place to start. I started with their credibility and translation of the NWT and it was like a snowball effect. Then came across the UN scandal....I never saw that coming! lol I have been out for 28 years but that indoctrination NEVER goes away! I was scared to come here at first so lurked quite awhile! What I thought was going to be a JW BASHING turned out to be quite the opposite. I came here and GLAD I did, this is a great place to come and has helped me alot.

Hi all.......sorry I cannot post videos yet, but Danmera on youtube did a video on the "Selma and Steve" article. (Can someone post it here?) She had planned to send the article to every domestic abuse center she could find and encouraged everyone else to do the same. Maybe that had some pull as to "this article" as the wts had probably gotten alot of unwanted attention? But to me wts has not changed thier agenda as they are still pushing that the bible education can change that violent situation. As far as Isabel..........her entire neighborhood shunned her? What?
