The Mosaic Law (Is it still Valid)

i'm interested to know of some of your view points out this.. is the mosaic law still valid, and should it be followed.

or as many claim was it done away with?.

from my examination of scripture, i feel that it is still valid, and christ did not do away with it.. briefly here are the primary reasons i feel this way :.

Scriptures (NT) tells us Jesus fulfilled all of the mosaic law and susequently he inherited all of the blessings. He became the source of these blessings to the world as the nation of Israel failed to do. 70 AD confirmed that the sacrificial and creamonial laws was ended since Jerusalem was destroyed as history confirms.

The only obligations we have as Christians is the moral law as summed up in the 10 commandents, NOT as a condition for gaining salvation but as a result of our new nature that enables us to overcome the sin problem within.

No system of laws and jails and punisment can change our nature or warrant the gift of eternal life. We are freed FROM SIN NOT FREED TO SIN !

Religion without revelation - any examples from the past?

i'm researching on the common trait of mostly every religion coming from pre-humanist times, and that would be, the notion of "revelation", that is, that at the beginning of every [i say this with caution because i'm admitting to exceptions] religion there is some sort of "revelation" from supernatural being(s) of some sort.. my question is: do you know of any example of religions from the past that you can confidently say that were exempt from "revelation"?

this is not the same as asking if there were religions without gods, or religions of nature.

i'm not even considering what i understand as philosophical-ethical systems, such as confucionism or platonism my purpose is to find out if, at the starting point of all religions of the past, there is a "revelation", or merely "observation / contemplation".

I think all religions are esoteric, and handed down to us orally and in literature. You are left with reason and observation, the French Revolution, and the deists that founded the new world. ...to be adopted for world peace (tongue in cheek) ;)

Was the Biblical Canon Directed by God?

this is a question a sincere christian may agonize over after learning that some books of the bible were rejected by certain early christian groups,while other books that did not make the canon were accepted.

also,when one realizes that so called inspired writers of the greek scriptures quote from apocrypha,that most christians reject today,one wonders if these writings that include these quotes should even be in the bible.. it is true that when it comes to the christian greek scriptures the canon has been closed for many centuries.

also, these books have been accepted by christians ever since the second,perhaps first,century.

The WTS accuse Christendom of being apostate since the end of the first century and YET they accept ALL 27 NT books set as Canon by this apostate source ...go figure !

when i started to do my research concerning ttatt, i started to see the scriptures in a different light.

one thing i noticed is that when the epistles talk about the last days, christs presence, the ressurection to heaven; the writers were speaking specifically of their time, not some two thousand years later.

even when jesus speaks of his presence and the kingdom being established, he was talking to his disciples of that time and what they were soon to expect.

my 2 cent ....

What seems to fit my paradigm, the church age (age of grace) from Pentecost and especially since 70 AD when the old jewish era ended started the spiritual millennium aka "inaugurated eschatology". However, its overlapping (in parallel) with the "old order creation" since pain, sin and death is still alive and well.

I don't believe that Jesus's return will be "boots on the ground" but visible evidence and after the final judgement, annilation of satan, sin and death a transformed, mortal creation to an eternal state. First fruits resurrection (mortality to immortality) seems to be a microcosm of A cosmic possibility.

Just sayin :)

yup, I threw the 1914 one generation pre-Mill out the widow. Preterism was an eye opener. I settled for a partial preterism/A-Mill ...I believe we are currently living in the spiritual millennium in the middle of revelation 20:6 .......and ......rev 20:7

Looking back to what happened since sept 2012... i must say its brilliant !

who thought in the early months of 2012 that such a rebranding would take place in only a matter of 24 months?.

they managed to go from an antique looking and boring website (watchtower.org) with hardly any attractive content to go to a fresh looking new website with stuff for everyone, families, children, teenagers.. movies, and short videos about almost everything and new ones added every month.

cartoons, animation video's , interviews, picture activities all kind of projects, many audio files like dramatic bible readings, dramas and music, online research tools, new brochures for kids (off and online) etc.

if you are boasting about the pro's in HQ why do you not see the contradiction in their teaching on higher education for their members, in these professional fields that has produced these services ?

Are you in support of an educated ruling class and a dumb blind following, sounds like the RCC of old !

Hats off to the org. what took the RCC church centuries to achieve the WBTS has achieved in a little more than one hundred years ...MOTHER church !

i barely could stand to make it seven minutes before i had to quit.. of course there were at least two, maybe three mentions in that short time of the expense incurred and the subtle begging for money to "support" the televangelism effort.

CAn some one help me find a WTBTS court case

hi hello, can anyone help me find a recording of the wtbts being on trial and admitting to their followers believing in a false prophecy.

they said the reason they had their followers believe this was "unity at all costs" i've heard the audio on a few videos online, but have not been able to find the actual source of the clip.

i've seen trnscripts as well (though not official).

authors david chilton (1987) and james stuart russell (1878) propose that the revelation is primarily a prophecy of the destruction of ancient jerusalem by the roman armies.

the revelation is jerusalem's armageddon (mountain of assembled roman troops).

i see the revelation as a war siren warning the first century christians of the imminent destruction of the city.

yes, I have read his ( James Stuart Russell) stuff, however, more recently I have been very interested in the cycles of Recapitulations seen in revelation.

Currently, I'm more persuaded as a partial Preterist view / AMILL eschatology ...all that's left is the "final countdown"

If then 16:17–21 ; 19:11–21 ; and 20:9–11 all recapitulate Christ’s second advent in 6:12–17 , we may conclude with good reason that 16:17–21 ; 19:11–21 ; and 20:9–11 are each parallel accounts of Christ’s return in their own right. The later abbreviated version in 20:9–11 evidently recapitulates the earlier, more detailed versions in 19:11–21 ; 16:17–21 ; and 6:12–17 . This conclusion, of course, calls into question the postmillennial and premillennial interpretations of 19:11–20:10 (11). The verbal and thematic parallels between 19:11–21 and 20:7–10 (11) indicate that the two passages have the second coming in view and thus that 20:7–10 (11) is a recapitulation of 19:11–21 .

2014 AGM announcement rumour

from barbara anderson, former watchtower headquarters researcher and writer, on another recent thread:.

it is expected that at the 2014 annual meeting, usually held the first saturday in october, will serve watchtower leaders well to cover-up all the 100-years of prophetic nonsense.

rumor has it they are going to celebrate their 100-years of announcing the kingdom in an adroit way by featuring a move of "great" significance to do with the expansion of the governing body to an "apostolic" 12 or some other fantasy idea.. .
