Thanks for the encouraging story Paul... I know what you feel... I am about the same age as you (though married with children at this moment) and I am now in fade mode. I had a meeting recently but the elders here are somewhat more discreet as they are in other countries. A juidical meeting may occur in the near future for me though. If it comes I will be ready for it since I already feel like an outward person towards the JW community.

What About Adam & Eve?

i know that they believe the fall was a horrible, horrible mistake and that man was never intended to fall (despite god's foreknowledge).
does the atonement of christ cover their sins or are they to be destroyed after their resurrection?

What will happen to Adam, Eve, Abel, Cain or any other person is not really interesting... it is more interesting (especially for Christ) that YOU and ME are following him. I do not know for sure what will happen to them and for some reason I never really cared... I do not even know what will eventually happen to me. It is already hard enough to walk straight without stumbling :)

i always remembered one sick drawing in it and it always made me wonder how this drawing could be used in one of their books.. .

Megatron's picture is not really cruel... besides... it is fictive of nature... it hasn;t happened nor will it ever happen (though in Transformers 3 he came very close!)...
The only reason I can think of WHY the WTS use illustrations like these is to put fear in the heart of us. I DO know it happened in the past... But hey: I am not making a drawing of people that are killed in a gaschamber either (even though it happened) ... I do not paint acts of raping or other sickness (even though these things occur even in historical point of view).
The fact that something is historical does not mean you have to paint it in a book that everyone WILL see... it is not even a historical PICTURE... it is a DRAWING and the thing with drawings is that you have to use your imagination! I can not understand why someone imagenes this into detail and puts it into a religious magazine/book that should have been encouraging! your Magazine is in a shop and I can choose to buy it or not... at a districtconvention you almost get it pressed into your stomach and you HAD to read it because it was given to you by the slave.
I, as a youngster at that time, was always very eager when a new publication came out (this one in 1990)... the fact that this image sticks in my brain is not because I love it... It is in my head because it shocked me to the core. And that is what they really want... to shock people this much so that they feel that every other movement is bad. Your magazine is not used for doctrine... but this lecture is.

The UN's motto means the END OF DAYS!! Gloom and DOOM

aparantly the un's motto this year is "peace and security" 1 thes 5:3 "whenever it is that they are saying peace and security then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pangs of distress upon a pregnant woman aand they by no means will escape".. according to this scripture the "end" should already be here since peace and security has already been declared by the un; i do wonder if this was done on purpose as a slap in the face to wtbs, due to them gb declaring the un a wicked and destable thing.. i would love to hear your thoughts on this matter.. honeybucket.

Simple... the absolute truth is Christ... so... why should we look at other teachings then the teachings he learned us all? In that same verse he says: No one comes to the Father except through me. every single person or group of persons who state otherwise are lying and are placing themselves in the position of Christ (false messiah's).
So what is "the truth"? Too bad for the Gnostics that I have to give a simple answer: Jesus Christ :)

My introduction/experience
by happy@last ini have only just recently found this site, in fact only recently gone online to do research of my own about jws.
before i left i had only gone on my gut instinct, not even realising i was not alone with my feelings.
the week i was appointed an elder some 11 years ago, i had had to write to a congregation many miles away from me about how unloving they were (more details below).. not long after i started to have concerns about jws, expecially as the message of 'following the bibles message' subtly changed to 'follow the fds', this did not sit well with me.

I always look at "motives"... the motivation to change a sick policy was not because of love but because of pressure from the surroundings and the pressure on religious organisations to open up their books. The "funny" thing is that they still look at the letter of the law: if in some state or country it is not FORCED to go to authorities they simply do not encourage it and keep the pressure up to keep up a "good name".
How can a organisation or a person for that matter live with these facts and not be moved to do something that other organisations don't? That is because they are part of the same corrupt world that they are kicking against...
to happy(at)last: keep the faith my friend. what you experience(d) is satanic... know that God and Christ know it and will support you with their Spirit... no man or power on earth can take THAT away from you. Man may disappoint you all day, every day... but they can't. I am proud of you that you told your story... it strengthens me really!
