Criminals have organisations... That makes them ok too, right? Where does the JW-cult fits in? -

Is disfellowshipping as popular as it was years ago?
by minimus ini seldom hear of people getting df'd anymore.
years ago it seemed there were a few per year in a congregation.

I think it also depends on the country. Officially I am still in but most know me as an apostate -

I am actually quite far with the religious part of JW so I first thought I would quit JWN (esp. after the new site).
however I decided to become a online (semi)-pokerpro and am aiming for supernova status on pokerstars this year (apart from the money i may gain).
for the rest I try to be with my JW family although I always keep in mind it may be over. I am ahead of that and not sorry ;)
my advise to anyone here: live life to the fullest, live your passion... Just live.
my biggest reward of leaving the cult is that I do not feel sorry about whatever I decide now. People like me or they dont... I do not care because it is THEIR choice. I love my life more then before even though it still sucks at time.
Anyway: a happy new year to eveyone of you guys. May you find peace and rest like I did find without religion. It is my biggest win ever and no gamble on the pokertable can win you that ;)

You know what it is: the moment you really step out of this shit... And I mean really in the sence of: "I do not give a f*** what they are teaching... I am free" is the most joyable moment of my life. I am faded, still officially in, all relatives are stubornly true to this shit but I am free.
do not try to follow their reasoning cause it is dumbass from the start. just start to implement new things! Stop studying that crap for christs sake (o dear... He does not even exist does he?)

El, Baal and JHVH
by Doug Mason inone of the most important sources that we have for the most ancient stages of the religion of israel are some epic texts about the gods of canaan that were found in an archaeological excavation in a place called ras shamra (ancient ugarit) early in the twentieth century.
these epics reveal a very rich ancient canaanite mythology, especially in the elaborated stories of the gods el and baal and their rivals and consorts.
while, of course, the israelite branch of the canaanite group partly defined itself through the rejection of this mythology, much of the imagery and narrative allusions that we find in the works of the israelite prophets, the psalms, and other biblical poetic texts are best illuminated through comparison with these ancient texts.

i researched the same about El etc. What really is interesting is the golden calf worship in the desert which means that for some reason it was normal to pray to El... JHWH had to take over there (or at least the jews wanted it to be).

Ever notice how JW's can attend a talk or Convention and remember nothing?
by Wasanelder Once inhow many times have you asked a jw who has attended a public talk how the talk was, only to be told it was so great!
yet they cannot remember the title nor any one single point except that the brother was "funny" or was good with illustratiions or some other vauge point?
and conventions weren't far off either.

It was one of the things that annoyed me the most. The strange thing is that most uberdubs mostly know nothing about theology and the bible. They love the gatherings, the organisation etc... But they know shit about the contents. That is the folks these GB dorks wants.

Scientists Should Not Dismiss Genesis So Quickly
by Chris Tann innasa discovery proves the bible scientifically accurate.
the debate.
for decades there has been a long standing debate between science and religion as to the validity of the biblical genesis account of creation.

It would have made sense if
1. We are the center of the universe (which we aren't)
2. We were not made out of chaos (waste)
Even if the events of Genesis show us the exact situation (which it doesn't)... It then is still an observation of the syntaxis of what happened but not the exact cause of it. Why would a God use some crap from the universe to start something new and unique? It is against the laws of fysics, morals etc. And if it took billions of years you might as well call it evolution right?
