Four Years on the Road, Putting up the Suitcases, Life After The Truth
by wanderlustguy ini dont know why i all the sudden went on the road, i thought it was all because i did what i had to do.
in early 2002 after the company i had been with for 3 years went bankrupt and was sold, for several reasons that were all bs, i had to go to houston to keep my job.
after being there a couple of months our biggest competitor hired me because we were kicking their teeth in.

Retirement anyone?
by mydiscounts inanyone here interested in money and retirement from a job?.
why the rich get richer and the poor and middle class get poorer?
it is because the system which they use to make money in was designed to end them up poor and working a job to the day they die.. poor and middle class need to change their money making system or they will never be free from a job.

""the rich get richer and the poor and middle class get poorer?""
The above is not a given. More and more are joining the 'rich', and the poor and middle class are not getting 'poorer' here in the USA, as those 'poor' classes are continuly being added to through illegal and legal imigration plus the high birth rate among the unmarried 'poor'.
A wise man (hubby) once said "A person has more control over his/her life than the person thinks he/she has."
Here are some 'tips' to allow one to save YOUR OWN MONEY for retirement. This would apply to all you 'poor' working folk putting in 40 hour/week: (we dairy farmed; actual working time +/- 12 hr/day, some night work, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year -NO "BENIFITS". We paid for our own 'benifits', ie. retirement savings, medical ins., had to pay for hired help if we wanted a day or several off, and then worried about the hired help ruininng our capital; cows, calves, buildings, equipment, etc........
Live within a 5 mile radius of your workplace.
Never pay more than 25% of your net (read 'take home pay) monthly income for rent/house payment
Get a ROTH IRA and regularly 'feed' it 10% +/- of your monthly net
Have kids? They do not need 'designer' jeans, athletic shoes, etc., there are alternatives. Kids don't need their own TV, phone, computer, - they are part of a 'family', these 'bells and whistles' are 'family' items.
Keep your car well maintained, by new every 12-15 years and pay 'cash'.
Cut back on 'entertainment' expenses; bars, restaurants, movies; note 'Cut back', not cut out. Make them rare but special events.
Teenage kids? School work and grades should be the top priority, the if they have too much time and energy on their hands...a part time job.
Collage age kids? Scholarships, grants, their own part time/ full time work. No student loans, no parents footing the bill. Been there, done that. It can be done! Don't forget to point out to them that the world still needs skilled tradesmen (plumbers, electricians, excavators, etc.)
Debit card yes/maybe....Credit card NO.
From Charles Dickens in "DAVID COPPERFILD"
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure ninteen nineteen six, result happiness.
Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
You, and no one else, are in control of your expenditures!!!

If Christians are 1/3 of the world's population....
by joelbear in.
then why do we have homeless people, millions starving, millions others living in poverty.
seems like a mighty ineffective 2 billion believers.

The Chinese torturing cats and dogs by the millions
by greendawn init is strange that in this day and age a country like china with a tradition of civilisation going back to ancient times treats cats and dogs as if they are nothing.
it's not just that they eat them or kill them for their fur but the cruel inhumane way in which the kill them, believing that if they die a painful death their meat will be more tasty.
not to mention that often they skin them alive as they don't care to wait until they die.

On the farm here we have a severe feral cat problem, and we raise holstien steers for beef.
Last year I did a lot of on-line "research" with the thought of marketing my feral cats to the Mung who live in EauClaire, WI.
It appears that in the Mung culture, and possibly most Asian cultures, torture is used ON PURPOSE, to flood the animals' meat with stress hormones before death! The higher level of adrenalan, cortoslol, ect., they think the beter the meat is.
Not for my feral cats!!! If/when we ever have to leave the farm and can no longer feed them I will hire a couple of 'sharpshooters' from the rifle club that is a half mile down the road.
Just ask any deer hunter which meat has a milder taste and is more tender; big clue...it's the deer that was dropped right where it was standing rather than the one that was just wounded and had to be tracked.

Never be sure of anything...
by Willow Tree inisnt it amazing how life can totally turn around and you end up in a place you swore you would never be in?
5 years ago, i was "happily" brainwashed, unaware of the deceptions.
i always thought that the jw's were right and everything against them was lies from satan.

Our dog died. :(
by Mulan inour 15 year old dog died this afternoon..............with assistance from a veterinarian friend of rachel's (princess).
she was old, sick, and with multiple health issues.
it was a really hard decision, but the vet really helped ease my mind, by assuring me it was time.

Mulan, my condolence on your loss of beloved Jenny.
So nice that your veterinarian came to your home. Ours has too, and that particular kindness means so much at that sad time.
My forum signature on a couple of Lab boards is: "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went." Unknown (but I strongly suspect this was said by Mark Twain)
