A prophet from God will not make a mistake, because the words he speaks are not his own. But are God's words through the Holy Spirit.

What is the most unBiblical teaching of the JWs?
by jerome init has been said that the jws hold to many beliefs that are unnsupported scripturally and inforce many 'unwritten' rules which they refer to as 'principles'.. i would like to start off the thread with what i think is the most important unbiblical teaching that they need to promote inorder to exist.. the watchtower teaches that "a prophet is able to make mistakes while he is speaking for god and still be considered as true.
mind you that these are not slips of the tounge but doctrines and predictions that have been promoted for years and have only been modified only after the watchtower had no choice but to change them.. this in my opinion is the most unscriptural teaching that the watchtower promotes.
if it werent for this teaching then the watchtower would most definately have to be marked as a false prophet!

Since I stopped being a JW, I have lost all interest on searching my family genealogy. I guess it is because a certain % are JWs. Any way I was going through my files this evening and came across some papers. This particular branch of the family was the ones who brought my mom into the the JW cult. Now I have had not contact with my mom since she learned of my dissociation (8 months ago). Tonight I was going to send her those papers. I had got them in an envelope, addressed, and stamped. The envelope sat on my desk less than 1/2 hour. Then this anger just started boiling inside. I took the envelope and tore it to shreds. I am still aggravated, but I am calming down some. I don't know if I am angry at my mom, or that cousin who got my mom to be a JW.

I don't know where to start. Around the late 80's or early 90's I can't remember exactly. My family and I (mom and sisters) went to a congregation get together. There we played games, ate, and well you get the general idea. Then we came to the part where we was starting a volley ball game. Two persons became captains, and they picked people to play on their teams. The last two people standing there was a girl named Peggy and myself. After she was picked. They just stood there and looked at me. No one had picked me. So I left. I was so hurt not being included on a team to play. I left and went home, crying.
Mom asked why I was leaving. I told her that I wanted to get on with my job. At the time I cleaned offices. The was a Saturday. I was hurt and angry.
Now I must tell you all that I can not stay mad or angry very long at any one person. At the most, about an hour or less.
(Now there are some exceptions. But I am not going to talk about that.)
Now lets fast forward to 4 days later (Wednesday). At the time Wed. was one of my biggest cleaning days. I had 4 places to clean (aprox. 8 hours of work- usually got done around 2 am Thursday morning)
I had only gotten started about 1/2 way through cleaning a bank. When mom called. She said that "Peggy, was killed in an auto accident." So I stopped what I was doing and went straight home. We went up to Kansas City, to a hospital. Her brother was in the same accident. He had been life flighted to the hospital. They did not know if he would survive.
He had just bought his first car earlier that day. His parents told him not to take the car out until they could make the car legal to drive (tags and insurance). He waited until after his mom and dad left home and asked his sister if she would like to take a ride. He was only going to drive it down their dirt road and bring the car right back. They would be gone only a few minutes. They got about 5 minutes from their house when he lost control of his car (dirt road), and it rolled. In the process his sister was thrown out of the car, and the car rolled right over her. She was killed instantly. She was only 12 years old at the time. (She was also the same age as my sister.)
Now this family was also very important to my family. I had baby sat for them, and her mom was one of my closest friends.
On Friday, they had the visitation. To make matters worse I had a talk to give at the kingdom hall afterwards. I did not want to do my part. But mom said that I had to full fill my responsibilities. It was the worst talk I ever gave. I was crying during the whole part. Let's just say I was given very bad marks from the elder. He had told me, during the meeting. That the death of Peggy should not be an excuse for being so sloppy in handling our parts for the meetings. That was the last talk I was ever assigned to do. -

I have had this thought going through my head for some time now.
Now I know some beleive in Armageddon and others well they don't.
But let's take this route just for the heck of it.Some time down the road, Armageddon does actually take place. And
the Jehovah's Witnesses do survive it. But to their surprise there are other people of other faiths who have also survied it also. And yes, even those who have left the orgization (including known apostates). Now my question is, what kind of reaction do you think they would have seeing people who they have shunned standing right there beside them? -

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Strange times on the ministry
by sleepy inhere are a couple of experiences i had while on the ministry.
one day we were working one of those inter city streets in britain that contain enormous victorian houses long since unaffordable and to big for people to live in nowadays, which are divided up into as many flats as the landlord can imagine possible.. usually you find the outcasts of humanity lurking their.
which always made them more exciting to do than suburban boring normality.. i rang the bell on one of these houses and offered the mags to a young man in his twenties.

The strangest thing that happened to me was after one of my bible studies. At the time I was a pioneer and single. This lady starts talking about dreams she has had in the past and how they always came true. She told me that I would get married and have one child. I thought this is weird, and that was the last time I ever studied with her. (That was not the reason why I stopped the study.) Right after I left her house, I prayed to God and asked him that if I do ever have a child, please allow me to have at least two. I have never like the idea of some one telling me of my future. Any way about 5 years later I did get married. Some time after I was married, my husband told me some thing his grand mother told him. (who was also in to fortune telling and very good at it) She told him that he would only have one child also- a son. So he said that was it, that was all we was going to have. But I had remember what I had prayed for. To make a long story short, a little over a year after I had my first child I got pregnate again. Talking about the floored look on my husband's face. He was very pissed also. He had tried to get me to abort my child, but I was determand to never do that. My children are now 4 and 6 years old, both boys. I do hope to one day have a daughter. And guess who my husband's favorate child is? You guess it, the one he did not want to keep. He could not picture his life now with out either of his sons. I do get a thank you from him every so often that I did not abort the baby. And an apoligy from him, at the same time for putting up with him being a jerk (his words) then.

COULD BE WORSE
The banker took his ledger out,
The rancher took a seat.
"Let's see, I lent you twenty thou
For cattle, corn and wheat."Let's talk about your cattle first."
The rancher's face looked pained.
"You know how bad the market's been,
Lost fifteen." he explained."Fifteen what! Fifteen cents a pound?
Fifteen died of thirst?"
"Nope, fifteen thousand dollars lost.
But hey, it could be worse."The banker swallowed hard then asked,
"Well, what about your grain?"
"The hoppers ate up all my wheat;
The sweet corn corn needed rain."The pig got sick. My son son got drunk
And joined the Moonies' Church!
I figger I'm down forty thou."
But hey, it could be worse.""Whataya mean, 'It could be worse!'
That ain't even funny."
The rancher shrugged and then replied,
"Could'a been my money." -

Dear Sharon,
At times like these I am never realy sure on what to say. But to let you know how pained I am with your loss. I read in the news over the internet about the death of your brother and his family. I am also a former witness, but left it after much research on the orgization. The reason for the research was that my own family was in so much pain because of them.
Love,
Tammie
