Arguments I’ve Had: Historical Accuracy and the Bible

when i was a jw and still living with my parents i remember the way my father held what could almost be described as contempt for archeologists, paleontologists, and other scientists who dared to try explain what happened in past.

he justified this attidtude with the argument that these people don’t have enough evidence to make such claims with any certainty.

however, i see now that his viewpoint was more likely a defense mechanism to protect his presupposed conclusion that everything described in the bible actually happened.

And of course the Bible does have such conclusive evidence to back up its claim of divine origin as the word of God.?

That`s it in a nutshell Saethydd which probably deserves a thread in its own right. { "If God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son" } Where was god in the first 4,000 years of human history with regards to the rest of humanity ? God was actually instrumental in committing genocide among "many" nations apart from the Jews.

He singled out a people for his name that he would bless and protect { when it suited him } and stuff the rest of humanity he wasn`t concerned with them ",old men women and child" could be put to death at his command and at his whim. Which he did time and time and time again throughout the Old Testament ,the Hebrew Scriptures .

And this is a God of love , "Jehovah".

The Children Act - Emma Thompson - advertised on ITV One - prime time.

as you probably know "the children act" is a film starring emma thompson as a high court judge deciding whether or not to transfuse a teen jw.

it is due to be on general release in the uk on august 24th 2018. september 14th usa.. its shortened trailer is being advertised in the uk on the biggest independent tv channel - namely itv - at prime time.

just seen it in advertisment breaks between 6pm and 7pm uk time.. thought you might like to know..

I`ve read the book and enjoyed it however , its not an expose of the JW belief system but rather how a non witness in this case a judge who has to make a judgement on whether a teenager who is near adult hood has the right to decide if he lives or dies refusing a blood transfusion .

I would like to see it and see how close it sticks to the book.

Jesus was a full blooded male human being when he was born from an imperfect human female Mary.

So he would have been 50% imperfect in my book ,but apart from that fact this is what being a male is all about if Jesus was truly a human being.

If he was truly human he would have experienced all things males experience in pre-puberty adolescence and adult -hood. as we all do/did.

Pre-puberty male childs get erections from a very young age for no rhyme or reason known to them and the only way to get rid of it is to masturbate.

So obviously Jesus went through this exercise also.

The teenage years are when males go through what is termed the wet dreams stage where one is dreaming about sexual experiences and ejaculates in his sleep something that he has absolutely no control over because he is asleep.

And while he was an adult he still would have gone through these physical needs the body puts you through and that you have to relieve yourself of either willingly or the body would do it for you.

So obviously Jesus being truly human would have had these experiences also.

Otherwise Jesus was not in any sense of the word a male human.

{ And we find many evidences of that in Scripture also ,such as his walking on water ,controlling the elements ,healing of the sick from life threatening diseases ,and raising people from the dead ,not something you or I can do as normal human beings ,so obviously Jesus was not a normal human being an equal to Adam because their is no indication in the Bible that Adam could do any of these things Jesus did}

How does the Governing Body members and their up front public exposure identifying themselves contrast with the New World Bible Translation Committee who want to remain unidentifiable and not putting a name or face to them for translating the Holy Scriptures from their original languages of Hebrew ,Aramaic,and Greek into modern speech.?

Their has obviously been a change of heart with the Governing Body of Jehovah`s witnesses and putting a face to them that they never did before .

Can we expect to see the names and faces of those of the New World bible Translation Committee in the foreseeable future ? who gave us the Silver Sword /New World Translation of the Bible ?

Surely they need to be given recognition for the work they have done in providing this and other Bibles over the years .

What works in comparison have individual members of the Governing body ever done ?

Then along comes Joseph F.Rutherford. He must have been a charismatic man to some extent to influence so many people to change from a biblical stance to one contrary to what the scriptures actually say.

And how did he do this ? by changing the emphasis on the kingdom of Jesus to the kingdom of Jehovah even though the kingdom of Jehovah is not even mentioned in the Bible .

Sleight of hand ?

J.F.Rutherford was so intent on dis engaging from anything associated with Christendom that was probably the reason for adopting the God of the Old Testament and transforming him into the New Testament that drove him.

For anybody who thinks the name of Jehovah is in the New testament ,the Christian Greek Scriptures look up the Kingdom interlinear of the Christian Greek scriptures by the WTB&TS ,KI, and you will find that the name Jehovah does not appear their in the word for word translation.

Could you really trust the Governing Body to the right thing?

over the years, many have speculated on how the governing body might reform the society into something that might actually bring some positivity in to the world ... and a resent melancholy moment, i re-watched the youtube clip of usa for africa's, 'we are the world' which was released in 1985. now while i know our men in warwick would never actually consider organizing the brotherhood to do something completely selfless in helping the truly worldly poor, something that would actually improve the religion's reputation ... but the question is ... could you really trust the governing body to run an aid program like usa for africa or band aid, without skimming from the top?.

The Jehovah Witness organization/International bible students Association /Governing body members of such said organizations are parasites on human society and a blight on humanity who falsely claim they are a charitable organization ,who do no charitable works.

Unlike Christendoms religions who do heaps of charitable works throughout their communities providing much needed help and support and health care for the less fortunate and vulnerable people that need it .

Do you think Ruthaford is buried at Beth Sharim?

no one really knows where ruthaford is buried.

there is some word of mouth evidence that he is buried under the garage of beth sarim.

i think he is under the garage.

Isn`t that ironic that J.F.Rutherford is, or could have been buried at the very site he prophetically stated that the faithful men of old such as Abraham , Issac , and Jacob would live after their resurrection?

I find that very amusing .
