when we were all in the errmmm..eh hem....cough cough..."truth".how did you react to people who said negitive things about the organization and when they called it a cult?
i recall one time, this young man tried to gentally aprouch me,he put his hand on my shoulder and he started to say,its a cult...and i remember my whole body tensed up and i practically went into a seizure to his touch.i just remember he took his hand away from me and stepped back very slowly.he stayed away from me the rest of the nite.lol, poor guy he must have tought i was a complete nutt.. i'm just glad i can laugh about it now,of course i wish i listened to him.. even the other day,i was talking to my mother and she was saying how upset i used to get with her....
I remember a Sunday speaker saying that the JWs were not a cult because cults follow a man and the JWs follow Jehovah. I remember thinking to myself, yeah, but they follow the Governing Body, the Faithful Slave. His talk made me realize the JWs were indeed a cult. After that I had no defense if someone brought the subject up.
let me say first of all, i have never been a big fan of halloween.
the witches, monsters, etc, never appealed to me.. last night, my family and i were invited to a friend of a friends house for food and trick or treating.
my first inclination, was to find a way to weasel out of it.
We live outside of Phoenix where the weather is great this time of year. Halloween is great here. Back in Wisconsin it was always rainy and cold and the kids had to wear coats over their costumes. With this warm weather, some houses even have fog machines for the yards and the tape player going with the screams and creaking doors and howling and the lit up eye balls in the bushes.
From what I hear, Christmas is going to be more of the same

On our street everyone sat outside in their driveways and partied and had the treats out there for the kids. Some neighbors compete in the house decoration department.
In another neighborhood a family turned their garage into a haunted house of sorts. It was a Men In Black theme with aliens in the garage and they shined a red light in the kids eyes afterwards so they would not remember it. People came from all over for it.
Yep, it was all fun. Adults would wander over to the other houses and say trick or treat and come back with a beer. We loved it
here in the great sunburnt country it's time to put the feet up and relax with a good cuppa, whilst i guess the north american posters and lurkers are still raging on saturday eve.
wherever you are, take a few minutes to just relax and unwind and enjoy reminiscing.
My husband and I were JWs for 30 years, so that means we had 25 years before that where we celebrated all the holidays. It is not hard to go back to that. Our son and his wife were raised in the org and they are having a lot more trouble letting go enough to celebrate holidays, although they are doing birthdays.
Here in Phoenix the weather is beautiful on Halloween so our whole block gets together out on the street with tables set up on the sidewalk for everyone's candy dishes and there is music and lots of decorations. A couple of young neighbor guys dress up like straw men and sit in chairs all limp and when they kids come by they jump up and scare them. The kids love it. It is a big street party.
there was an elder at our hall ,when he would call on someone , he would help the brother with the mic to find the person.
he did this by saying: " sister little in the front"....hehehhe ,, of course being bored to death, this always cracked several us of rowdy back seat sitters up.. here are more examples from our old hall.
Please get several opinions, and then if you still need the surgery, make sure they put you on NATURAL hormones and not the synthetic crap from horse urine. Any good doctor knows the difference. Also, they don't tell you that all the studies that showed the breast cancer link to estrogen were done with the synthetic estrogen because there is no link with the natural estrogen. It is called Estradiol. Do the research and you will see what i mean.
I dated my husband 3 1/2 years and we were still strangers when we married 36 years ago.
My mother-in-law on the other hand, knew my father-in-law two weeks before they got married. It was not even enough time for her to tell him that she had two kids! LOL! After the wedding she said, by the way................
Las Vegs has the same situation as here in Phoenix. They have a bountiful cheap labor source from south of the border. Unless you have a tradesman job, it is hard to find a job that pays anything. Try Home Depot. See if there is a distribution center for Target or Walmart around there. Check out the home builders and see if they need any runners. A big home builder there was just bought out by Meritage Corporation and they pay their runners $9 to run paper work from job site to job site. Once you get a job, start thinking about some schooling to get a tradesman job.
