WELCOME! I, too, found that this forum validated my feelings that something was seriously wrong with the borg. Even though I could not be a part of it anymore (I just couldn't force myself to go to one more meeting) I still wondered "if they were right". Everything I learned here made me sure I had done the right thing by walking away.
I, too have been drawn to the metaphysical. I have no interest in belonging to another religion. I see the metaphysical as a larger understanding of what life is all about. There are several other members here who share that view.

PANIC ATTACKS
by ScoobySnax injust interested to know.....do any here suffer from "panic attacks" or have done so in the past?
just interested to know.
if so, how did you/do you deal with them....?

It seems that a couple of times per year I go through a period of anxiety that lasts for many weeks and the panic attacks will flair during those times. I find that some supplements help me, mainly Magnesium, St. John's Wort, Valerian and Selenium. In fact, low Selenium levels can cause the whole thing. If I slack off on taking them I will start to feel really wired. I have a hard time driving in heavy traffic during those times because I feel like a panic attack is going to strike any minute.
This sort of thing tends to be genetic. I have a couple of siblings with the same thing. And they were never JWs.
I tried the prescription stuff and all I got from that was a dry mouth and dead sex drive.

Have you ever been in a car accident?
by back2dafront injust curious how many people have been the driver in a car/motorcycle accident.
i've been driving for 12 years now and have up and down the east coast numerous times, across country and up and down the west coast numerous times.
plus my commute to work for the past 2 years is 95 miles round trip.

Been in several. All were the other driver's fault. That is where I get my name "Target" from. I feel like I am driving around with one on my car.
I have been driving for 40 years and was never at fault in any accident.
I was broadsided when I was driving a school bus. The woman said she didn't think I was coming her way. There was no other way but up. She had no insurance. Yep, I have some stories.

I guess this birthday is special, kind of. I get my age 55 senior discount. Better than nothing, as they say.
When I was a kid and not yet sucked into the JW cult, I really hated my birthday because being six days before Christmans, people we big on saying "Here, this is for your birthday AND for Christmas." Even when I was dating my husband in high school, he pulled that one on me. His birthday is in November and I thought about saying that same thing to him and see how he liked it.
But now all the years have gone by and he has a grey mustache and I don't, so I guess I came out ahead.

An excellent Chiropractor in Wisconsin who we went to always used this method of muscle testing and it diagosed things the doctors missed, like my son's peptic ulcer being caused by a dairy allergy when he was six years old. The doctors tested him and said he was not allergic to dairy but the muscle testing said he was and when I took him off all dairy the ulcer healed right up. Just one of many, many stories about the procedure.
