where does a person that doesn't: smoke, celebrate holidays,salute the flag,join the military,join clubs,shuns family & others, goes to 5 plus meetings a wk.,condems all outsiders as armegedon fodder,looks down on secular education, lives in fear (them v/s us) etc., belong?.

the answer = only one place (drum roll please) the kingdub hall.. ya gotta hand it to them, by making the followers extream phreeks they exert a powerful control & keep them miserable, but unable to go anywhere else & fit in!.

I think it's all about the JW's catching people at a vulnerable moment. Seemed to me all the new bible studies they had were with older people who more or less just liked the human interaction. Funny though there supposed to be such loving people but when my study would come around they'd make fun of the other studies they had and how they couldn't answer the questions right. Back stabbers. Ahh it's all just sooooo wrong. I don't get it. makes me mad and I never even joined.

whats your earliest memory?.

i can remmember going to see my new-born sister in hospital when i was 2 years old.. funny thing is i remmember , remmembering that i remmembered things from the past as a 2 year old , but i carnt remmember the actual things themself.. i hope that makes sense.. i wonder if i can access earlier memories by some technique?

Every saturday morning I would go downstairs with my favorite stuffed animals and line them up next to me, and we would sit and watch cartoons together.

my boyfriends uncle just died this morning.

it was his late fathers brother, and the only relative left on that side of the family.

he is upset, but also trying to play the responsible role and not show too much emotion.

My boyfriends Uncle just died this morning. It was his late fathers brother, and the only relative left on that side of the family. He is upset, but also trying to play the responsible role and not show too much emotion. Does anyone have any advice on what I should say or do. He said I could come to the funeral but he would understand if I didn't want too. Should I go. What role does a girlfriend play in this situation. I want to be there for him, but I don't want to smother him and make him feel uncomfortable. Should I go to the funeral or would it be ok not too? Please any advice is appreciated. thanks all

i just wanted to thank everyone.

i used to study with a jw and i would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about.

i was sure the lady i was studying with was my friend and out to help me.

I just wanted to thank everyone. I used to study with a JW and I would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about. I was sure the lady I was studying with was my friend and out to help me. But as soon as I pulled away a little and cut down my study sessions she became angry and now won't even talk to me. You were all right a true friend would never do that to you, or try to change you. I thank you all sooooooooo much you gave me another side to see, without pushing your opinions on me. You gave me the strength to continue to be my own person it's funny how some people can suck the life right out of you without you even realizing it. You all made me see that I was no longer being myself, that most of all I was afraid to be myself, and that is not a good thing :) so thank you all, now my biggest concern is what to do with all the books they gave me!!!

My Encounter with a Witness

well, the other night i had invited a young man to my house to share with him, respectfully, the false prophecies of the wt, using older wt books.

the conversation started very nicely, with the usual small talk and such.

i decided to ask some questions, that i knew the answers to, but just wanted to get the gears in his head turning.

i had previously asked a question about demons and after visiting the sites and reading the posts suggested by larc, i am disturbed.

jw really believe all that stuff about vacumes, teapots, and other household iteams.

you are all right. A friendship shouldn't cause me to be afraid to do something wrong. i don't know if she would continue to be my friend but I guess if she didn't then she wouldn't have been a true friend in the first place. I guess I just see her and her family and am jelous and for the first time I feel apart of that, even if it is soley on the surface. Would i still study if it wasn't for her? I don't know I'm still in the gaining knowledge stage and since i have no real prior bible knowledge I really don't have anything to compare their teachings to. until of course I found this board and some other sites so I am gaining information that seems to conflict. And sometimes the lady I study with confuses me I don't get the whole great tribulation where those who aren't in the truth die but then if they die before the great tribulation everyone is resurected. Seems to me it would be better to die now then later. And the 144,000 people how do they decide who they are seems like anyone could just say they were annointed. Those are just some of the things but I am still learning.
The elders are scary though. They seem very very VERY unapproachable. Seems like if they said jump everyone would say how high. i guess i only really like the studying but I've checked into another study class that is not JW affiliated. So that should be good. Thanks again for all the posts.
