i have a couple of thoughts on the blood and shunning doctrines, both of which have been covered well before.
here, and on j.w facts.com and elsewhere.. but i would like to point out the following, the only scriptures they can use in reality for their blood doctrine are the verses from acts chapter 15. o.t verse are really out of the question, and dishonest to use on their part, as they do not follow most of the injunctions in there!.
the context of acts 15 is a council of the apostles and others in the jerusalem congregation, to decide what they should ask of gentile christians in the way of behaviours and practices etc, as jewish christians were demanding they comply with the mosaic law, or were, at the very least offended if they did not.
When they get to the matter of the use of Blood,
With respect, my friend, you are giving them too much latitude.
At no point does the Bible speak of the "Use" of blood.
Never. Not even once.
Every single command is situtionally specific.
it is a challenge next sunday for them .
due to starting the convention programme the wt study will be a 30 minute run through ,and deals with this prophecy ... i doubt the younger ones are familiar with it at all bur oldies could debate it at length .we on the look out for the king of the north to enter "the land of decoration" (more to follow, maybe next week).
this article makes a grand claim in par 2.
The British Government turned towards Europe in recent decades and certainly does not consider itself a junior party in a U S A led world power.
The average American male (Including apparently WT writers) draws his knowledge of world history from WWII movies.
These are the same ignorant people who came up with this jewel here:
"West Germany became an ally of the king of the south, and East Germany aligned itself with another powerful entity—the Communist bloc of nations headed by the Soviet Union." (Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy p 270)
lately in the news you see more karens and kens emerging.. ”i’m calling the police.
i see a black man looking at me!”.
”i want to speak to your manager right away!!
Karens (And Kens too) were a "thing" long before the current state of unrest. (Ask anybody in retail)
there is a surge going on of people buying guns, especially first time buyers.
with talk of police defunding and rioting in the neighborhoods, some people want to protect themselves.. do you support owning and using a gun if needed?.
here in the UK the vast majority of people have no wish--or the means--to blow holes in each other.
The U.S. and the U.K. are an interesting comparison in extremes
We take the right of self protection to one extreme
You take it to the other
It's true that your gun violence is infinitesimal compared to ours and for that you can be proud
It's also equally true that a 50kg woman in the U.K. cannot even carry a pinky-size pepper spray aerosol on her key chain and other than crying out for help has no realistic defense against a 115kg male assailant.
You have taken the right of self protection away from those who need it the most and this is reflected in your crime stats even after they have been adjusted for our respective methods or reporting sexual assault...

Yes. Self protection is a fundamental right
just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny this unofficial jw experience that my father received by email.
i’ve told him that it against wt rules to forward unofficial accounts.
but of course he just puts that down to apostate driven lies.
Yes. And the JW's inspired John Lennon's song, Imagine
And "The NWT" was the correct answer to a Jeopardy question about the most accurate translation.
the amazing exoneration of info sekta in swiss court has finally reinforced the proper way to exit an abusive cult.. never write a letter of disassociation.
- no need to invoke shepherding or judicial action from elders.
make a written, dated statement of your free-will choice to have abandoned the jw religion - secure this document with a friend -a trusted friend (not the jw kind).
Phizzy,
In all but a tiny handful of exceptions, truth is an absolute defense against defamation here in the U.S.
Perhaps that's not the case in the U.K.? (I honestly don't know)

Phizzy,
This is the danger, but the "Letter" prevents them from taking the Action of Announcing you as "No longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"....
How would this work in the U.K.?

I have no idea what a UBM might be
Sorry,
UBM = UnBelieving Mate. It was a very common term here on JWN, because there were a lot of us participating, at least at one time. Like JW, xJW, NWT, PIMO etc., it didn't usually need an explanation
I'm not abysmally stupid (Egentlich spreche ich drei Sprachen und lese zwei weitere...) but am not as up on JW things as those of you who have lived it and consequently sometimes miss something obvious.
Long story short, I paid an attorney a boat-load of money to research this subject when my wife was starting to fade and the prognosis was pretty dismal. There is virtually no legal recourse here in the U.S. for JW's who want to exit the faith unscathed. (I would be happy to elaborate if you want...)
If the Zurich decision has repercussions for JW's in Switzerland, that would be great. If it also extends into Germany and Austria because of the strong bilateral relationships between the three, that would be even better.
But I'm not grasping the connection to the English speaking world, especially here in the U.S. with our strong sentiment of caveat emptor. (And would add that the current political climate is driving us even farther in that direction.)
