Totally believable. I knew a simmilar elder who had a brother pitch his "demonized" furniture off the landing in his second floor apartment.

Demonized Wall Paper!
by D wiltshire inyears ago i studied with a couple, that told me of an elder that studied with them years before.. they were having marital discord at the time and this elder was famous for finding demon posessed objects.. so this elder while conducting his study and talking about their marital problems asked them if perhaps they may have inadvertently brought home a demon posessed object, and that this was the cause of their domestic problems.. well they went through their whole apartment with this elder to see if they could find anything, but were unsucessfull.
finally when in the kitchen the elder said he felt strange and that something in the kitchen must be causing it, they looked and looked but nothing.. but when the elder touched the walls of the kitchen, he felt the presents of something there on the walls that could be the causing of their problems.
so they dung into the wall of the kitchen and found that it was painted over a couple layers of old wall paper.. guess what was one of the pictures they found on one of the layers of wall paper?.

I NEED ADVICE DESPERATELY!!!
by concerned fiance inhere is my situation: my fiance is now 27 years old.
he was raised as a jw from the age of 2 through 18. at that time, his whole family left the "truth" except for his older brother who had already married another woman from the faith.
for the past 9 years, he has been living his life to the fullest, but still loving god, praying often and he is a truly honest and moral person.

I think you are on the right track. Let him research these things now, before he goes back and will no longer be able to look. The freemind website has helped me look honestly at many issues. If you both are really in love, it will be worth going through this. At least you will find out how strong your relationship is.

I need your advice
by cecil ini need your advice: i have written a letter to my branch office regarding my problems with the 607-chronology 60+ pages with short references about the issue, that i have collected through the past 9-10 years.
at the end of my letter i asked 14 questions 7 questions regarding the biblical evidence against the 607 bce-chronology and 7 questions regarding the historical and astronomical evidence against it.. the letter i received as an answer did not contain anything that could qualify as an answer or even an attempt to answer my questions.
i called the branch office by phone and talked to the brother who had written the answer.

mymailmum: You SHOULDN'T EVEN BE READING THIS. You know it and I know it. So dont come on here defending your church when your church tells you that you shouldn't even be on this website. I could be wrong, maybe you were granted 'special powers' by the society so that when you read this "apostate" material you are not harmed by it like the rest of the brothers and sisters would be.
Just in case you are still reading, let me assure you that most on this site have seen the things that happen among the jw's.
Unlike you we are tired of making excuses for it like "Jehovah allows certain things to continue for a time" and "Satan is the one testing all of Jehovah's people". No, either God is directing the elders and the society or he is'nt. Which one is it? Oh I know, he is directing them when they do the right thing, and when they screw up it was imperfect human error again, right? How conveniant. -

Battered Women 8/8/01
by silentlambs ini am stunned.. with all the effort to try and make the issue of abuse known through silentlambs.
the hundreds of accounts given by victims explaining the foundation of why watchtower policy hurts children.
the lawsuits now being enacted to make watchtower compensate those injured by their policy.

My mother finally got the courage to leave my ill-tempered father. Both were JW. She moved out and then had and a short lived affair likley to give my father a 'scriptural divorce'. When she told him (over the phone) he loaded myself (10) and my brother (7) into the car and we drove to her new place where he proceeded to distribute beatings to my mother and her new boyfriend who happened to be there.
After that he dropped us off at the KH because our meeting happened to be going and left with an elder to turn himself in to the cops. He lost his priviliges but was not DFed probably because "she had it coming" or something like that. -

Is religion the cause of war?
by tdogg ini have had this discussion with many people but i would like to know what the xjw has to say, since we were told this so many times at church.. i am of the opinion that most wars are not really fought due to religion but rather, economics.
religion of course is the excuse leaders will use, but if look behind the facade there is always some economic motovation.

Programming Through Post Hypnotic Suggestions
by Victor_E ini went into the knowledge book to pull some post hypnotic suggestions that were the constant diet of fussy gummy thinking that can lead to fear and paranoia.
pg 10 if life in paradise appeals to you, let nothing hold you back from gaining the knowledge of god.. this is a blanket all or nothing statement that registers in the unconscious mind as i need to do all the jws tell me with no exceptions, to have the paradise life.
satan is opposition to god through your study of the bible........you will not let pressures to prevent you from what is right .......satan ruthlessly tries to intimidate anyone ......you should always.....remember and appreciate jehovah.....you help opposers gain appreciation.

Its not glazed eyes ladonna, its the holy spirit at work. Just kidding. I am still amazed at the callous attitude toward the suffering and death of non-belivers. My father was a master at it. He thrived on the vengence, judgement and holy retribution portions of the Bible. If people die in this world then it is because they probably deserved it and besides, God would have had to kill them anyway. That was the kind of thinking I was raised with.

Staying awake during the Watchtower study
by drahcir yarrum inhere's a question i always wanted answered during the years i was a witness.
what's the best way to stay awake during the watchtower study?
oh, furthermore, what's the best way to stay awake during any witness "snooze-a-thon" brainwashing session?

Happy, right on. The public talk was far more torturous than the WT study. A whole hour of listening to some fool read a script with those fake, pre-rehearsed tones. The comical robotic gestures were hillarious.
To cope I developed many techniques to sleep without detection. It was all about angles and the way you rested your head on your hand. Of course you had to move your head now and then so it would look like you were following along in your book, but with practice you wouldn't even have to wake up. Those two hours every sunday seemed like 2 days at the time. -

just another religion
by teejay inpatriotism is a religion just like every other religion.
either you believie it and live it or you don't.. i see people waving the flag at sporting events, hear them mouthing the words, "we're all one nation, blah, blah, blah" but then they go out and flip one another off in the parking lot.
just like people at the kingdom hall who supposedly love jehovah (or jesus or allah) and after the meeting is over, they go right back to the way they were.. love of country is no more influential than love of god.

Good reply Ginny. On this however:
**Why do people hate? I believe the indoctrination comes first. * Maybe, but wouldn't that imply that if there was no religion there would be no hatred?
I have somthing on similar note that Ive been wanting to discuss but I will start a new thread. -

'Lost' redux
by Rex B13 inbeing lost...is of course, the usual state of things here.
what's surprising is that they (the lost) think that pulling scriptures out of context, isolating mosaic laws mean't for one purpose and one time, is somehow refuting scripture.. they like to ignore the fact that jesus is the revealed yahweh and he sets the mark, not any organisation nor any pious individual.
we relate scripture to him and we interpret scripture by his life amongst mankind.

toddy, that was beautiful. I couldn't have said it better myself. No, I mean I really couln't have. The most well written piece I have read on this site so far. Can I make a 'tract' out of that?
