Is Jehovah Irresponsible?

if i as a parent were to keep a pit bull or poisonous snake in my house, and it killed one of my children, what would the civil authorities do?

what would the media pundits and experts say about my parenting skills?

how would child services act had they known about the situation in advance?

But dont you remember? No animals ate meat before the flood. All of that is only nessesary to ensure survival of the species untill the New Order! Right? Um, you know, sharks ate only sea plants, snakes ate only small pebbles, and lions, well those teeth were suitable for chewing up large tree trunks.

Obviously, the earth was much different then. There was far more vegetation, but Noah couldn't save all of that could he? And Jehovah was in his day of rest, well, day of rest from creating anyway (there was plenty of time for destroying and that is kind of like recreation anyway), so he could not just recreate those missing species of plants. Besides the giant cloud that covered the earth was gone and now the climate is different.

So to answer your question, it is not Jehovah's fault. It was humans who caused God to have to kill them and wreck the perfect plan for a worldwide garden. It's all in the Bible you know.

P.S. Don't forget about mosquitos. They used to suck sap from small seedlings before they had to resort to blood.

the whole demeanor of the rank& file jw is bred from a impossibly awkward & fabricated persona.

Add in the fact that many would not seek counseling now, and were prohibited from seeking counseling in years past, and you have a volitile mix. My aunt was depressed for years but was only treated toward the end of her life. Treatment however, was too late and did not eliminate the cause of the problem. The cause that a JW would not admit.

If someone is offended by reading ideas that run counter to one's beliefs, oh well. If one takes offence in a discussion of religious ideas, that sometimes is a sign that the person has encountered an idea that opposes his/her belief system and that cannot be reconcilled. The confusion can trigger defense mehanisms that result in emotional response.

So if you can't stand the heat, then well, you know the rest. I think I have wasted enough life as a JW that I am entiled to have strong opinions toward them. However if someone posts stricktly for the purpose of offending someone, I would consider it rude.

I was not allowed to play organised sports when I was a JW. How is it that these girls who have to dedicate so much time to play at the level they can play at can still be JW's? If this would have happened in my congregation those girls would have been ostracized! Now that they are famous, the WTS cant touch them without creating too much of a stink. They probably dont even have practical cars for field service. Mercedes SUV's are not suitiable for taking the older pioneer sisters around in. And what about spending every possible hour warning others about the impending battle of Armageddon? I think that is much more important than tennis, but then maybe this system of things is not so bad when you are a world famous multi-millionare.

AMNESIA: I think you miss the point of the critisism. Those girls choose to belong to a religion that holds certain beliefs and mandates certain behavior for it's members. That behaiour, even that way of thinking on William's behalf is clearly aginst the priniciples of the JW organisation. So are they JW's or are they not? There is no "straddling the fence" as the dubs like to say.

Why are ex-JWs a little bitter? Just ask all the former janitors and window washers.

Anti-Evolutionists Wanted !!!!

there is an evolution question bubbling up down the threads a little way, and it minded me to try to really get to the nub of the opposition to the technique.. i would like to pose very serious questions, and i hope they attracts serious, considered responses - once and for all.. why is it impossible, in the minds of anti-evolutionists, that god did indeed create us, the earth, the sun, and everything around us including the entire physical universe, and that evolution was his technique; evolution as a divine technique?

how do you know, how are you so certain that's not the case?

how would you explain your opposition to god if he told you personally that, yep, that's the way he did it alright?.

I think some joining the discussion seem to come with the delusion that there is a right and a wrong way to believe. Some even write in a way suggesting that they can "prove" that they are right or wrong. This had been a great thread for information from humans with many different opinions and I appreciate what both sides have to say (though I my beliefs are most similar to Gravedancer's.)

This is one subject wherein the only proof is that neither side can prove itself entirely. So dont get emotional and defensive when someone posts an idea that may challenege your belief system. Using facts to support your beliefs is fine, just remember that they are still, for now, only beliefs. But then we have aready gone over the whole "fact\theroy" thing in the first pages the thread (for those who bothered to read it all before jumping in).

i know this has been mentioned before but i'd just like some input on this.. i would like to go "door to door" again, i miss it so.

what i am interested in is succinct criticisms of the watchtower that would turn off a householder to jehovah's witnesses.

nothing sensational just simple truths in easy to understand statements.

If you have time to donate to a cause, perhaps something a little more constructive?. Are you doing this to satisfy feelings of anger and hoping for some small revenge against the WTS? The world needs more people like you who are willing to spend time helping others in some way and I admire your eagerness to get out and actually do something instead of just talk. I only wonder if your time would not an be better spent on those a liitle more in need. .

To deny the facts presented by evolutionary theroy is absurd. What does remain is that the existance of God can be neither proved nor disproved.

I am a musician. I love to write music and create songs. I love to play music. I cannot personally deny the existance of what many artists call the "source." This can only be understood by one one who has experenced the sensation. Many creatives will tell you that they do not "think up" but "pull down", their material, they are merely a medium. This is different then reciting music, or painting a pictue of something that you can see or have seen. What I am writing about is something that happens when one is in a state of mind that allows for things to be created that seem to be generated from somewhere other than our synapses. This is also something that cannot be proven, only experienced.

My point? There are at times things that humans do or percieve that would indicate a higher source, but that is all. What it is or is not can be debated forever. It would seem that we have only the facts to consider and the facts do not explain everything and that is why we (Creationists, Evolutionists, anyone in between) ALL form belief systems that fill in the gaps.
