I got it for not wearing socks with my leather top-siders during the "miami vice" era. Then I got it another time just for wearing the top-siders themselves. I didn't always wear a suit jacket and that seemed to be a problem for some. The clothes-police elder was always on me even though his cheap ugly suits with huge fat tacky tie were probably more offensive to God than my bare ankles.

Ridiculous trips to the 'back room'
by Esmeralda inthe posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.
here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.
though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.

Bible-x
This same old line has been used against the r and f for years. We could only use society publications or those few approved outside resources for referance. If you wanted to know what Mormons believed then you couldnt read the book of Mormon, you had to find out from the society what the Mormons believed. (I always wondered who read the book to find out to tell us.)
If the "truth" is the truth then a few words to the contrary shouldn't decieve us, but rather strengthen our belief. Of course this is easier to see in retrospect.I had no interest in the WTBS for 10 years now but I decided to look them up on the net and see what they were up to and I was suprised to find that their website was VERY limited. The WTBS has always bragged about their use of technology. Whats more is that there are many XJW sites easily found by search. I think they should be very concerned about the flock having such easy access to this "dangerous" info.

'Lost' redux
by Rex B13 inbeing lost...is of course, the usual state of things here.
what's surprising is that they (the lost) think that pulling scriptures out of context, isolating mosaic laws mean't for one purpose and one time, is somehow refuting scripture.. they like to ignore the fact that jesus is the revealed yahweh and he sets the mark, not any organisation nor any pious individual.
we relate scripture to him and we interpret scripture by his life amongst mankind.

Rex you are entitled to your beliefs and I try to keep and open mind and learn from what people post here. But I would have to agree with Larc that there is a "strong undercurrent of hate" in your words. Everything you say has a venomous tone to it.
Your rebuttal: "Nope, that is completely unbiblical." So then you apparantly are completely biblical. Your posts do not come out of love as one who would call himself a "follower of Christ", instead you appear belligerant and spiteful. This in itself would be okay except that you do it as a spokesman for Christ, the Prince of Peace.

"GET THE WBTS OUT OF THE UN" Pickets
by MadApostate insince it has been several years since i attended an assembly/convention, i don't know if some of you folks are still picketing such, .
the upcoming special assembly this sunday would seem to be a great opportunity to spread this un issue to the jw r&f.. can't you just hear the "buzz" in the hallways:.
"why are the apostates holding signs saying, 'get the wbts out of the un'"?.

You may be correct. But after having read the responses on this site from some JW's already, you can see what their mind set is. Most will take the postiion that the society is not "really in the UN" and that they are just registered in it.
In my JW days I would have looked dubiously upon any pickiting. And I know that some will question, but the effectivness will be determined by who they turn to for answers. I am intersted to see the WTBS spin on this though I know it will be convincing for most of the R and F. You know that when they admit the Un thing there will be a convincing reason that they did it and will probably be set up very well with forthcoming articles. Hey they got out of the 1975 thing right? -

My wife's aunt is in NY. She works near the Empire ST. building and has been a volunteer since the disaster. She has lately been at the armory and the mayors command center. I think I will ask her if she can confirm any of this 'relief aid'.

I doubt the effectiveness of picketing. You would only be seen as fanatical, Satan inspired persecuters intent on spreading lies to the people of God. There may be a possibility however of raising a question in the minds of some who are new to the faith and not quite indoctrinated beyond reason. This could go either way though because when the new person would ask his teacher it would give them an opportunity to provide the JW answer as well as a demonstration of how Satan's forces are prevelent and active, even right outside the convention.

JW Response to NGO/UN info
by Andrew Farrell infollowing is the response of a jw to the information regarding the un/ngo status of the watchtower society.
it seems not all will see with clarity the hypocritical position of the organisation in this matter:.

I think you will have to concede the argument that the society is registered with the UN to protect the interests of the preaching activity. That being said you can then point out the fact that the society is actually seeking protection with the UN, the very organization they condemn. Then it would follow that God is not able to, or willing to provide such protction so that the society had to seek protection from the Great Harlot. One may initially close themeselves off to this argument but I guarantee this will linger in their skull for a long time.
Just remember how many little doubts it took for most of us to accumulate before we could finally see the light. -

So, who REALLY were/are the "Nephilim"?
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
once again, i have received a 'writing' on my heart, which i am directed to share with any and all who will 'receive' it.. for many years, the wtbts and others have taught the "nephilim" to be the offspring of angels who had relations with the daughters of men, half-breed beings that wreaked havoc in a violent way in the earth during the days of noah, just prior to the flood.
that, dear ones... is an error... and a lie.. by the spirit of my father, the holy one of israel, jah of armies, that is in me by means of christ, i say to you that the "nephilim"... are spirit creatures, ancient beings... 'of old'... princes from the spirit realm, the 'wicked spirit forces'... that came to the earth to 'fell' earthling man in the days of noah.. these being are those that i saw standing to the left of my father's throne, shrouded in darkness, and 'egging' on the 'battle' between to the two brilliant cherubs on the ark, the 'arkangels', which i related to you previously on h20.

Exercise--Is It For Christians?
by comment inexcerpted from a future issue of the watchtower:.
in modern times, great emphasis has been laid upon diet and exercise, particularly in western lands.
people are often impressed by the physiques of athletes and movie stars presented in the media.

The bengals winning two games in a row is certainly a miracle. The mormons here in Utah would have to disagree on which college God favors and they'll tell you so.
