Absolutely. In my opinion, and based on what I have learned reading and meeting professionals in the matter of cults, yes. There are two types of people in cults, especially the ones born in: They grow to become blind followers or a narcissistic personality disorder case, pompous, self-righteous, emotionally abusive a-hole (or bitch).

Their irresponsible behavior around people who need professional help. The last congregation I belonged to was full of people with all kinds of issues, waiting for magic Jehovah to make them all go away, while getting horrible advice and guidance from the elders.
i remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.
in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.
no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.
No poop related stories, but the elders in my congregation were using that time to attack their own children. The local needs talk were about everything that the youth were supposed to be and do, and they were all related of exactly what was happening in the household of the elder giving the talk. Disgusting.

Regardless of any political view I have, JW_Rogue, it is true that many JWs claim that they aren't part of the world and not involved in politics, but many do have opinions and feel happy when candidates they believe in (and many that I know do believe in candidates) win. Same thing with many other things that are supposed to be "wordly".
The not having things in common with them, I think, may be a larger issue (just my opinion).

Illegally. I don't know how it is now, but I remember the yearbook from, say 1974 where they had a lot of stories about JWs in Nazi Germany, as well as many WT stories from people getting arrested, jailed and prosecuted for preaching. The WT trains people to believe that losing their freedoms and lives over their agenda is a good thing.

No, I feel I shouldn't have said anything as I was merely comparing being raised as a Witness without beatings, etc and saying that alone was not abuse. But if others believe that such is abuse, even without such things then I am not going to deny that of them. Apparently how I wrote things show, as dubstepped wrote, that there is something that even the people I work with should fear of me. I will seriously take that into consideration.

You shouldn't feel that way. You started a great conversation on a topic that all of us have something to say (or are afraid of saying something). You can express yourself and we can all disagree. This isn't a congregation, nor the KH. Here we don't have to same way of thinking, nor the same believes, and that's perfectly ok.
Again, this topic is a very good and important one. Not a lot of people have the opportunity to talk and express themselves about the issue of abuse of any kind.
