  Hooray! Bound volumes in the trash!

  my wife has held onto them like they were family heirlooms.

  we are cleaning and clearing out accumulated stuff and i pointed out that there is the cd-rom library now and that the society has made revisions and really doesn't want us to be reading the old stuff.

  she said that even though there have been changes to the teachings, the wrong understanding served its' purpose at the time.

  I think your question is a little vague and general. I'd say it depends of what you mean by nationalism, what you mean by solving, and what you mean by problem. And of course, it also depends on which side of the problem or solution you are.

  i think it is inevitable.

  i don't worry about it but it just seems that the human race is going down a road that they can't make a turn off.. they are probing/discovering how the human mind works and produces intelligence down to the individual molecule.

  now with the invention of the super quantum computer soon we will be able to build even better artificial intelligence greater than our own, so it will be easily able to out smart us because will we be a bunch of dumb apes first discovering how to make fire in it's eyes.. it will have it's own different agendas than us humans.

  No. Not at all. What it can make is either our lives better or more difficult. Like everything else, AI can be use for the good or for the bad.

  What I see is is AI being used in ways where companies suck up all the information they can about us, to use it for their purposes.

  In a separate post, I posted about a conference I went in Las Vegas, recently. Two of the main speakers were professional Futurists (I didn't even know that such profession exists), and their talks were about using AI as well a advances in the approaches on how it is developed (as opposed to how it was originally thought that it would work).

  They presented things like the Google toilet, capable of detecting pregnancy, stress hormones, alcohol, infections, etc:
  

  

  They presented a computer generated pop star who gave concerts and interviews:

  

  And a technology named VGG-Face deep learning algorithm that can detect people's sexual orientation with face recognition technology:

  
  

  I like the way one of the speakers finished her speech, with this quote:

  "Technology generates as many new problems as new solutions. Most of the problems we will have n the future are going to be caused by the technologies that look like solutions to us today".

  I began thinking about how that illustration actually fits the life of those of us who have left jw’s. As a jw our life sort of crept along all warm and fuzzy but we never got to spread our wings and fly. And much like that caterpillar that had to go into the cocoon and cease to exist as neither a caterpillar nor a butterfly, so it was for us who left jw’s.
  

  I agree. Especially us, the ones born-in, who were born into that nonsense. I don't believe that caterpillars are ugly, though (I know, that's besides the point). Thank you for your post.

  please tell me how not to think too much and get a good night sleep.

  when i was a jw i didn't think too much because i knew everything, but now my mind works overtime.

  how in the hell can i shut it down and stop the anxiety???

  Talk to friends and other people you trust. That helps calming your mind (at least it does it with mine). I think 100 things at a time, so talking to trusted people about the things that you cannot talk to everyone helps declutter your mind.

  Some people medicate by using prescription drugs. I don't like that, but it works for some people.

  this website, as well as youtube, and eventually reddit, were all key in me finally accepting the “truth” being not that at all.

  Why do Jehovah`s Witnesses believe everything will be Hunky Dory after Armageddon ? I have news for them.

  they seem to think that all they will do is enjoy a carefree life with little or no concerns problems or worries whereas nothing could be further from the truth... according to the bible.. without trying to speculate on these concerns or problems during this one thousand year reign of christ jesus ,lets hear what the bible has to say about the end of his thousand year reign.. rev.20:7-10 satan is to be let out of his prison {as if he hasn`t done enough damage in 6000 years of roaming about in the earth at the same time fraternizing with jesus and jehovah in heaven} i digress.. and the reason he is let out of prison ,lo and behold ,is to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth gog and magog to gather them together for the war.

  { here we go again ,armageddon didn`t solve anything we have to go through another one.

  } 1000 years later.. now get this it`s not just some isolated little skirmish with a few hundred or even a few thousand dissenters ,as the bible states they number the sands of the seashore and they advanced over the breadth of the earth and encircled the camp {not a nation but a camp} of the holy ones.and the beloved city.. with that description it would seem the holy ones are in the minority and the opposes apparently were spread over all the earth.. so that description of the bible to me about jc 1000 rule does not appear to be one of living in a paradise , that is not on the agenda until after jesus christ 1000 year reign and only if you are lucky enough to survive another test/war of your loyalty after all you have gone through previously.. i wonder if this realization is one of the reasons why so many now are claiming to be of the anointed because as one of the other sheep you have to pass another test after the 1000 years of christ jesus rule whereas of one of the anointed on death now you go straight to heaven ..

  all across america there are areas where people are trying to enforce christian law!

  outsiders are strictly forbidden from entering and they have private security and guards to keep people out.

  That's not a new thing in America.

  I'm with Mr. Roboto, to some degree. I can't care less about what others decide to do with their religion, up until the point where my taxes start paying for it.
