I lied to the elders

i stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.

my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.

from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

We are sharing accommodation in our home so it is absolute hell being in the face of family that have shunned us [we are not "officially" Df'ed / DA'ed] - all the time and passing each other in the passageway and not speaking etc-

We have discovered they have snooped on our computers looking for "evidence" and of course as I am the BiL it has become convenient for them to accuse me of being the perp. of my wife's downfall from the JW - even though my beloved is "further out" than I am -

So I identify strongly with you atacrossroads

Nevertheless the emotions at play will wreak havoc on your psyche' -

before i start my subject post, i like to extend a warm welcome to all the new members that have joined the site.

i just can't keep up with all the new names.

nice to see all of you here.. i haven't posted anything in a while because of work, scheduling and everything else, but i do have some interesting thoughts that i would like to share with all of you in the coming months.

son of thunder is saying he has relatives that we're running bethel in egypt for years and they have been let go reassigned as special pioneers yet according to him this job no longer pays a wage.

he also states that 5000 total bethelites world wide are being let go.

One of the stresses you have when you run a blog / website [imho] is that you feel impelled to have to "feed" new info into it especially when you have a "following" -

I run a blog related to ESL /TEFL English teaching and its bloody exhausting trying to keep up with feeding in new information all the time - and then you still have to follow up with respondents.

So the danger of going after every little new "nugget' of info is there - Also trying to be "first" with the Breaking Story may prove a problem -

We give more to the Watchtower Society than for our local KH

i have been doing the accounts for our local congregation now for 3 years.

i just thought, wow our local expenses total just $500 a month, yet we have an ongoing expense each month of $600 for the kh expansion work(ie:world wide work), $60 for the traveling overseer insurance and $54 for the local kingdom hall insurance, in addition to the operating committee expense of $525.. so, our one congregation sends $714 a month plus what the publishers contribute towards the world wide work usually between $600 to $700 per month.

in other words, we are at least sending, for our little congregation of 75 publishers, $1314 a month!

They way people attack one another here suggests that it is definitely NOT an OPEN forum where one can express oneself freely and that unless you tow a certain line whether openly suggested or implied you are going to get ostracized, torn apart and insulted ! [As many were when exiting / fading the JW .ORG etc ]

Which has all the hall-marks of the start of the next Cult following - right here on your favourite forum.

Lets ditch this behaviour man !

Some restraint and yielding and improved choice of words could go a long way !

Also make it a lot more inviting for others to feel comfortable visiting here !

It's Too Late to Return to Jehovah!

yes friends it is too late for most of you to return to jehovah's org.

based on the new garlic bread parable in this month's broadcast with the illustration using loaves of bread.

it is obvious that the doors of the arc has been closed shut by jehovah's hand for some of us.. according to the new parable that can be found on jw tv.

Stepping out of the shadows

i have been lurking on the site for a few months and thought it about time i plucked up the courage to step out of the shadows and say hello.. i am in the process of fading after realizing all is not right with the organization i had trusted implicitly for over 40 years.

there have always been 'truths' i have struggled to accept entirely, even as a child, but was confident that trusting in jehovah, building my faith and remaining patient would be enough to settle any nagging doubts that remained, so i pushed any inconsistencies to the back of my mind and concentrated on being the best witness that i could be.. over the last few years, however, i have been preoccupied with a number of crises in my family and stepping back slightly from 'theocratic' activity has allowed me to re evaluate a number of concerns and research sources other than the sanitized wt publications.. my eyes are now wide open - i found things which have appalled me and left me feeling extremely let down and disappointed by people i had really trusted.. i tried gently raising a few subjects with my mum (who was baptized early '70s and still remains a staunch wt supporter) but she will hear no criticism of the organization.

i understand this because the best part of her life has been invested in the religion and to acknowledge it may have got things wrong would be to recognize the last 40 years have been a vain waste.

Just to add a 2 cents......Your post could be a ditto of my and my wife's own fade out after about the same time in - baptized in 74 and 71 And the reasons along with all the others here are almost exactly the same!

I lurked here for years too ! [Its Simons fault ! ]
