The paranormal.
by Lost in the fog ini know that a lot of the people on here have turned their backs on the idea of a deity deciding that god does not exist.
but what about the unseen spirit world generally such as poltergeists, jinns, voodoo, etc.
if you have become agnostic, atheist, or just don't care since leaving, do you think that there are spirits out there or have you decided that is also hokum?

Growing up as a witness, I placed every "bump in the night" as demons. I remember one time I had gone to my room to study the watchtower. As I was laying in bed, I heard faint voices.. I freaked out and immediately prayed to Jehovah out loud. ( Since even mentioning his name would scare the demons away). After I finished my prayer I listened.. to my surprise, I could still hear the voices. In a panic, I ran downstairs and told my non-witness dad that I could hear voices. After a minute or 2 of laughter ( and seeing fear on my face), he went upstairs to investigate. He listened and sure enough, he could hear voices too.. Was it a demon trying to draw me away from Jehovah??? No, I had my walk-man radio on full volume sitting on my dresser... so it sounded like faint voices.
Now a days, I am very cautious about blaming something on the supernatural. However, like the other poster on here... I work in a nursing home and have seen a few strange things.
truth b known--- i was a big fan of "ghost hunters"

from say sorry.org
by zeb inon monday 22 october 2018, the prime minister of australia, the hon scott morrison mp, will deliver the national apology to victims and survivors of institutional child sexual abuse at parliament house in canberra.
this apology follows the individual apologies to child abuse victims and congregations by religious leaders and religious institutions across australia, with the exception of the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses who have refused to ‘say sorry’ to any victims or survivors of child sexual abuse or to acknowledge their suffering.. .
jehovah’s witness victims and survivors to attend the national apology ceremony.

maybe we should contact " Today Tonight" or the news so they can try and bring more attention to the fact that the GB won't say sorry

How many JDubs would believe this ridiculous statement?
by Sour Grapes ina circuit overseer or a member of the gibbering body is giving a talk about demonism and he says the following, "there was an elder in a congregation in california who let his 8-year-old daughter watch disney movies that involved witches, gremlins, magic, and sorcery.
many may feel that they are harmless movies and are just entertainment.
well, the 8-year-old daughter actually brought a blue smurf doll to the public talk and watchtower study.

It's amazing to think how these stories have all started from one source.. I'ld love to know what or who that source was. I heard the smurf stories when I was a kid... an elder even told me that his sister had gone to a john denver concert and he asked the Jehovah's Witnesses to leave. Since it was an elder, I believed it. Looking back at it now, I was so naive.
P.s.- another john denver story I heard from this elder ( he must have really hated poor john...) Mr. Denver was on the johnny carson show and did his usual " asking the witnesses to leave" but johnny carson said the witnesses can stay.

a jehovah’s witness girl may be forced to receive a blood transfusion against her will this weekend when she gives birth in melbourne.. mercy hospital victoria was granted supreme court authority on friday to give the girl blood as a “last resort” if she suffers a postpartum haemorrhage when induced into labour on sunday afternoon.
the 17-year-old first-time mother is considered to be at increased risk of haemorrhaging because she is of “small stature” and the baby is large, meaning she may have a long labour, an assisted birth or an emergency caesarean.. jehovah’s witnesses forbid followers from receiving blood transfusions or blood products.. the risk to the baby from the mother refusing blood is considered low.. view photos.

I just found this on yahoo news australia :
A Jehovah’s Witness girl may be forced to receive a blood transfusion against her will this weekend when she gives birth in Melbourne.
Mercy Hospital Victoria was granted Supreme Court authority on Friday to give the girl blood as a “last resort” if she suffers a postpartum haemorrhage when induced into labour on Sunday afternoon.
The 17-year-old first-time mother is considered to be at increased risk of haemorrhaging because she is of “small stature” and the baby is large, meaning she may have a long labour, an assisted birth or an emergency caesarean.
Jehovah’s Witnesses forbid followers from receiving blood transfusions or blood products.
The risk to the baby from the mother refusing blood is considered low.

Source: Getty Images (File pic)MoreThe Human Tissue Act has a provision that minors may be given blood transfusions without parental consent, however it was edited in 1994 with the concept of a “mature minor” who could “make up their own mind”, the court was told on Friday.
However, child psychiatrist Campbell Paul told the hearing he did not believe the girl had the “decision-making capacity” to be considered as having “Gillick competence” – a term used to describe whether a child can consent to their own medical treatment.
Prof Paul said the girl had “been through considerable disruption and trauma through her life” and had “transgressed a major value of her family and her community” by having pre-marital sex.
He said therefore, “you could imagine that she feels very frightened” and worried about “further punishment”.

Source: Getty Images (File pic)MoreObstetrician and gynaecologist Jacqueline van Dam told the court she was concerned about the girl’s “naivety” that if anything happened “she would be protected by her faith”.
She said a number of strategies could be undertaken first in the case of haemorrhage, such as injecting a drug to limit bleeding or stitching the uterus.
The girl’s mother, who said she would not consent to the hospital administering blood to her daughter, told the court receiving a transfusion would have a significant impact on the girl’s well-being.
“Being forced to have that done against her will would be something like having violence done to her or being raped,” she said in a statement read to the court.
“She wants to do the right thing by Jehovah, by God.”
Justice Cameron Macaulay granted Mercy Hospital the authority to give the girl a transfusion if necessary as “a last resort” but only if they first used all other strategies to stop the bleeding and obtained authority from two doctors.
“I’m not satisfied that (the girl) has the maturity to understand the consequences of her choice,” he said.
“I do not consider that allowing her, in effect, to choose to die… is in her best interests.”
