Not Former, I’ve also heard that JWs refuse blood in front of the HLC, when they leave, they tell the doctors to go ahead and give them the blood they need. Some have been transfused in the middle of the night, because in the daytime, other JWs are there.

The HLC do not pressure JWs
by usualusername1 inthe hospital liaison committee (hlc) for jehovah’s witnesses does not pressure members to refuse blood transfusions.
rather, their role is to support jehovah’s witnesses in adhering to their pre-existing religious beliefs, which include a strict prohibition against accepting blood transfusions based on their interpretation of biblical scriptures.. jehovah’s witnesses are well-informed about their stance on blood from an early age, and refusing blood is a deeply ingrained religious conviction, not something imposed during a medical crisis.
the hlc’s purpose is to provide assistance in accessing bloodless treatment options, facilitating communication with healthcare providers, and helping ensure that the patient’s choices are respected.. while the hlc strongly supports adherence to the beliefs of jehovah’s witnesses, the ultimate decision remains with the individual.

I have no idea why someone downvoted LHG’s post, unless it was a slip of the hand. I appreciate all of your comments, Long Hair Gal. 😊

Is 1st Century advice on marriage still relevant in today’s modern world?
by liam inrepublicans want to make a law that forbids ‘uncontested divorce”.
they based this on this scripture.. matthew 19. is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”.
4 “haven’t you read,” jesus replied, “that at the beginning the creator ‘made them male and female,’and said, ‘for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ so they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Would you be able to survive a three day Assembly?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.
the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.
i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.

Rules and Regulations, I was at those Cicero race track conventions, too. I got my first kiss there. (Very chaste).

I was reading on Reddit that a young girl was questioned repeatedly by an elder if she knew that having sex with dogs was wrong, and asked her if she had any ‘difficulties’ in this direction. She told him no, but he rather persistently asked her about this topic. Like, if she was SURE that she had never had sex with a dog, or any interest in such things. Disgusting!

Did your witness family have a 'Thanksgiving' that wasn't on Thanksgiving?
by SydBarrett inmy family had several elders, ministerial servants, auxillary pioneers etc, so it certainly wasn't one of those 'barely in' families.
but in certain small ways, i think mine were slightly less hard line than some other families i've heard stories about over the years.
one example was the 'fall dinner'.

We had the complete turkey dinner, every Thanksgiving Day. But, it was just our family of 3, no guests, very quiet. But, they always had to remind us, that turkey is on sale.

George, I didn’t know about Van Morrison! Yes, I remember the long, boring assemblies and conventions. I’m old enough to remember 7 day ones. As soon as I was old enough, I volunteered so I didn’t have to sit and listen to that 💩.

Yes, also the wives didn’t like the elders, their husbands, looking at the attractive women.
