When JW's say they are 'In the truth'...
by Ron.W. inwhere did this phrase 'in the truth' come from?.
it's been around as long as i can remember.
is it from the time they were promoting 'the truth shall make you free' book back in 1943?

I hate this phrase, also. In fairness, I was watching Sister Wives on TV, and Kody Brown called his form of religion “the truth”. And when he said it, I watched his eyes glaze over, just as though he was in a cult!
I’m a born in from the early 1960’s, and this phrase pre dates me, so it’s been used for a long time.

JW Lawyer in Norway uses "theocratic warfare" to conceal the org's controlling language!
by BoogerMan inin the org's vocabulary, the term "independent thinking" is applied pejoratively to any jw who thinks & reasons for themselves.
the org's lawyer knew exactly what he was doing in court when he voiced his carefully prepared words:.
"watchtowers lawyer anders ryssdal compares jehovah’s witnesses’ baptism to the norwegian state church’s confirmation of 15-year-olds, arguing that their baptism is no different.

They conveniently leave out parents who tell their kids that, if they are not baptized by age 18, they are kicked out. I had so much pressure put on me to get baptized because Armageddon was coming in 1975, and I “knew” the truth, so if I was not baptized, I would likely be killed at Armageddon. I absolutely DID NOT want to get baptized.

The org's failed last days predictions were "well meant."
by BoogerMan inw93 6/1 p. 15 par.
6 be sound in mind - the end is close - "of course, well-meaning, faithful christians in the past have sincerely tried to predict when the end would come.".
more than 140 years of a sincere & well-meaning "it's coming soon" from the org, can be swept under the carpet - nothing to see here!.

Miscarriage myths amongst JW
by Anony Mous inso i am having these discussions about children etc and there are witness ties and family history in these discussions.
i got the feeling having this discussion that they seemed to imply somehow it was ‘the parent’s fault’ for having a miscarriage.
whether it was domestic violence, or the mother did something wrong themselves.

As a kid, I remember when someone would suffer a miscarriage, my parents would remark, but not their faces, that that baby would not get a resurrection, because it never breathed the “breath of life”. They would, of course, express sympathy to the ones who this happened to.
