Marriage
by Mr Magoo inwhen i married my jw wife i was told that marriage was a very important thing.. i have, however, later learned that:.
1) my sister-in-laws husbands jw brother got divorced because his jw wife fooled around.. 2 - 3) 2 couples were divorced after we got married (212 years ago).
one of them had only been married for a couple of years.

I Have Another Question
by Law ini have a friend in the national guard and he says hes thinking about converting but they dont belive in military but he needs the army to pay for college and has a 6 year commitment.
what would happen?

An effective Ministry?

if you examine current jw's and ex-members, how many were actually converted to witnessdom by someone knocking at the door?
the wts' own stats show how ineffective the door-to-door work is yet converts are made at quite sizeable rates at times and in some places.

Rules for Baptism.....
by TheApostleAK inthis is a spinoff from the "effective ministry" thread.. are the eligibility rules for baptism of a male candidate more tighter/tougher/stricter than for a female candidate??.
i've noticed in the 1.5 years i was a jw of situations where a woman was given the green light and a male was knocked back even though they both were working fulltime.
(they both were consistent in fs and both participated in the meetings).. anyone else experienced that?

Never baptised. Both times I asked to be baptised I was unemployed but doing Footy on Saturdays. I was averaging 20+ hours a month. Pioneered last month. They still knocked me back anyway.

Damage control
by Norm insince brooklyn finally allowed the 1914 generation to die in 1995, the distributing apparatus of the multinational printing organization has been starting to slow down.. service is down, the numbers of pioneers are decreasing, the number of baptized show an alarming drop and people are leaving in their thousands.. after many decades of incessant harping on how jehovah, jesus and the bible had guaranteed that the end would be over before the 1914 generation was dead, the witnesses had the only thing that kept many of them going, ripped out from under their noses.
suddenly jehovah hadnt promised any such thing in the awake!
suddenly jesus had never been talking about the length of a generation, as usual the watchtower had never said any such thing, someone had speculated about the generation.

I was recruited by the door to door method. First met on July 99, started attending meetings in Nov 99, Publisher starting April 00, DA in April 01.
The thing that killed me was the lack of love, dog eat dog nature, the whole false front of it and the whole siege mentality. There's only so much you can take of it.
10:30pm Sunday night.....I still haven't be disconnected yet...:)
