Geoff Jackson is not 55, he is 61. Try at least to get that one correct.

Two Trees in the Garden of Eden
by God_Delusion inisn't it weird how so few know that there were actually two major trees in the garden of eden account.. there was the tree of knowledge (of good and bad) and there was also the tree of life.. genesis chapter 3 makes is quite clear that god banished adam and eve from the garden and placed an angel to guard the tree of life, so that they might not eat from it again.
is this implying that the two perfect humans had to eat from the tree in order to have eternal life?
if not, why protect it?.

Why The Similarity In Myths? Jungian View Of The Unconscious
by frankiespeakin inmyths?
i know to some that is a dirty word, especially if it is being said about something that they believe in.. i'm sure many here have seen that internet movie call zeitgeist about all the similarities in the jesus myth and other myths, what accounts for this sharing of themes found in myths all over the world?
even in peoples that are very remote from one another?.

frankiespeakin - have you read more by and about Jung, or "just this"? I am asking, because I have been reading Jung for some time, and he is just amazing, he has a wealth of insight so huge and an ability to compare and draw conclusions which is awe-striking.
His dreams prior to 1914, and the "Seven Sermons to the Dead" period - it is quite simply huge. One need not subscribe to all his ideas, some of them might seem a bit strange and offensive, and his manners a bit patronizing, but his importance to psychology/psychiatry/philosophy and the knowledge of the man, his soul and myths cannot be overestimated.

Famine 1975! - or Famine 2050?
by TheOldHippie ini remember the quotes from the "famine 1975!
" book in the truth book from 68, and the impression of that period, that a major breakdown in the worlds ability to feed the billions would or could happen because of nature catastrophes, water shortage etc.
when i read articles today, not sensational articles but summaries of scientific reports on the greenhouse effect, climate change, disappearance of species and their importance for the food chain etc.

I remember the quotes from the "Famine – 1975!" book in the Truth book from 68, and the impression of that period, that a major breakdown in the world’s ability to feed the billions would or could happen because of nature catastrophes, water shortage etc. etc.
When I read articles today, not sensational articles but summaries of scientific reports on the greenhouse effect, climate change, disappearance of species and their importance for the food chain etc. – I get the feeling that in the middle of this century, the catastrophe warnings of the 60s and 70s might come true by then, that catastrophe might then happen. It makes me worried.
Now my question is, if I am the only one here to feel really worried, or are more like me? I feel there are two possibilities, apart from the whole system shutting down: Either we somehow manage to survive through the nature destruction which is happening, but the world will no longer as we know it, but will be a very different place, more like the desert scenes from Mad Max or something like that. Or, if we include God, the intervention thought to happen in the mid-70s will take place in a decade or two, because we would then be on the brink of destroying the Earth.
Or do you believe in a third option, that man will somehow take to his senses and change his way of living, and at the same time some smart guy will come up with a solution to most of the climate change problems.
I sense the latter option unlikely for two reasons. First, man will only change his ways, when he sees his life severely threatened. And because of the nature of the climate change and other mechanisms, that they are long and slow in effect, it will then be too late to change. Secondly, there are hundreds of millions Chinese, Indians, Brazilians and others who have lived for so long in poverty that they will not change, when they see that they finally are on their way out of that poverty and into some small wealth and prosperity and consumer society.
I am pessimistic, to put it short, feeling the long expected catastrophe is slowly coming. Slow train coming.

Very interesting, MMXIV, that you so desperately try to twist even this little newspaper article into something negative, you just couldn't stand the idea of a positive little story about a JW, could you? Amazing .............

Counting the errors in one section of the Origin of Life brouchure
by bohm infrom page 12:.
the theory of evolution tries to account for the origin of life on earth without the necessity of divine intervention.. .
false: simply plain false on both accounts.. however, the more that scientists discover about life, the less likely it appears that it could arise by chance.. false: author state conclusion which is not supported by the text.

The theory of evolution tries to account for the origin of life on earth without the necessity of divine intervention.
CORRECT: That was Darwin’s strategy from the beginning, to show no God was needed..
However, the more that scientists discover about life, the less likely it appears that it could arise by chance.
CORRECT: Hence the extreme silence as to this first step. But once this step has been achieved, then the theories come into action.
To sidestep this dilemma
CORRECT: There is a huge dilemma..
to make a distinction between the theory of evolution and the Question of the origin of life.
CORRECT: There is a huge silence on the Origin question, but an equally huge literature on the Evolution question.
The theory of evolution rests on the notion that a long series of fortunate accidents produced life to start with.
CORRECT: That is what it is all about.
It then proposes that another series of undirected accidents produced the astonishing diversity and complexity of all living things.
CORRECT: That is what evolution says.
However, if the foundation of the theory is missing,
CORRECT: The step-by-step changes are not explained in detail..
what happens to the other theories that are built on this assumption?
CORRECT: They end up void.
Just as a skyscraper built without a foundation would collapse, a theory of evolution that cannot explain the origin of life will crumble.
CORRECT: Once a foundation is made, anything can be constructed, but they have no foundation.
After briefly considering the structure and function of a "simple" cell what do you see-evidence of many accidents or proof of brilliant design?
CORRECT: I see nothing but proof of brilliant design. A design that can be ascribed to a Creator or to Evolution – but not to Darwinism - but design is what I see.

Scarborough, UK JW Paedophile around 1999-2000?
by James_Slash ini'm just looking to see if anyone was aware of this.. i was a jw at the time and me, my friend and my mother would often attend the scarborough, south bay congregation whenever we were on vacation - probably over a 3-year-period.. around 1999-2000 we went there and there was an american 'brother' present who had married a 'sister' who he had met at the new york bethel when she had visited.
both he and she were regular pioneers.
you could tell that the congregation held them in the very highest regard.. i remember on the thursday night during the service meeting they got him on the platform and he told the whole congregation how he emptied the bins at bethel but enjoyed doing it for jehovah.

"if you get disfellowshipped, please let me know so that I can take you out of my address book".
That's a new one. Important, though, that you gives the call BEFORE one is df'ed, as the other one shouldn't communicate with you afterwards ..........

1914 again
by inbetween inthere are a lot of thread s and arguments around the 587/607 issue, it can be a bit confusing, and for those of us still in, like me, to help others, it would not be a topic i would choose first.
it was something i found out, after i awakened, before i simply brushed it aside, as something like worldly chronology against biblical chronology.
imho to be ready for this issue, you have to be awake first, unless you are a real history buff... anyway, there may be another take on this matter:.

Interesting, inbetween. Next argument would be that God is not CAUSING it to happen, but KNOWS it is going to happen, and allows Satan to do it. But as you say, that gives Him a role in it. But, this damned free will of course is there and so each and every one has the chance of NOT following Satan. No. 2 I think is impossible, because Satan is bent upon havoc and not clever scheming like that one. On the other hand, he is clever enough at other times, according to the Scriptures. I feel sorry for the old prophet in old Israel who was told not to return the same way he had come, but then the other prophet tricked him to come home to him for a snack and he told him an angel from God had told him to invite the other one. And during the snack, God condemns the poor prophet. Goes hand in hand with NT warnings that even if a message comes from an angel, do not heed.
Inbetween - religion, and Christianity, as a tricky and risky business! Makes me, as often, wish I was far more ignorant than I (presumably) am, as I would then not have to ask myself and try to resolve all these questions!

I think an argument against your line of thought would be that God is almighty, he is more powerful than Satan and can therefore restrict him, change his plans or intervene in them in such a way that his schemes or plans in fact end up following God's original plans. God intervened and made Balaam's planned denunciations of the Israelites be turned into blessings. Thus satan's planned actions for 1912 or 1916 could be hastened or prolonged into taking effect in 1914. That would be an argument against your sinister and wicked ideas
