part 3: the october surprise!
jws were very eager about world events peace and security: the worldwide pronouncement of peace and security has been a prophetic mantra of the jw religion since before i became associated in 1968. and now, at long last, it was finally upon us!
true, 1975 had not brought armageddon, just as 1914 did not bring it either.
i'm wondering how many of you took a while to gather up the courage to dispose of your cupboard loads of watchtowers and awakes, that you'd stored away for........safe keeping????.
we probably hung on to ours for a few months and then we burned them.
there was a tinge of apprehension about it, but it was generally a very satisfying activity.
No way!!! I saved them for fire place starters....works real well, burns very slow and hot (they use good wood for their paper).
However, I kept my flock book and my talk outlines, I don't really know why........

Don’t give up on your wife! I took some good points from R Franz book, ISOCF and just asked her for her thoughts on the issues I wanted to relate to her. Man, after some time, I saw the light go on in her............now, she is much more critical of the j-dubs than I!!!........

i finally got my copy of "in search of christian freedom" big book, even in just browsing it i find it quite interesting.
as most of you have read it, i won't write a book report.. hey my folks just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on 26 january.
what a blessing!.
One chapter out of ISOCF has more "thinking" "light" value than a whole library of WT crap! Y: Please post what chapter “Impacted” you the most. “The Misuse of Disfellowshipping” and Blood chapter really woke me up! Happy reading........

jw's not a cult or sect just christians , would be the impression you get if you asked most people.. oh yes they get anoyed when they get woken up on saturday morning , they know a bit about there stand on blood and christmas, but not much else.. hey i went to my local libary today to see what books they had on jehovahs witness.first i did a search on the computer for coc, gentile times.. e.t.c none came up.so i went to the religion section to have a look.. lots of books on mormons , christadephians , christian science oh jehovahs witnesses ,damn its the procliamers book.. then i found a book millions now living will never die not the rutherford version but writen by an ex witness in the 60's.
(i noticed a lot of critical notes hand writen in there by people who have read it i bet they never told anyone the'd read an apostate book).
it was the only book in the libary critical of the witnesses.
is there any justifiable recompense for emotional scarring/loss of education etc caused by the brain washing/ indoctrination carried out by wbts and its members?

my judicial meeting took place on monday night.
i was a bit annoyed because the meeting centered on my private beliefs - things that i've already spoken to the elders about in the past many times before.
i don't think i handled myself as well as i wanted to, but i guess i did ok under the circumstances.

I must agree with Raymond Franz, the Jws, though mislead, still are made up of mostly good hearted people. True, their polices are hurtful and destructive (to some) if one chooses to follow them, however, as RF points out, there are many such organizations that have this same quality of control.
Also, please remember that to many, the “JW way” is very much needed and wanted in their lives. They want others to think for themselves and they would not have it any other way. Only time will tell..................
Many first century Christians "lined up to die" (For not burning incense to Creaser, let alone for not taking blood, what was more pathetic?) in what they believed in at the time! Where they right in doing so? Or were they part of a "dangerous" religion? Only time will tell...........
