Kind of hard to believe your sincerity...at least on my part. You might have to report back to the brothers that your attempts to cause doubts among us has failed. Maybe you just don't get it.

mistaken email interception

my wife sent an email to her sister from my server yesterday...unfortunately she had mispelled the recipients email address and it bounced back...and i just retrieved it.

as some of you know i have faded from the borganization and have been working to get my kids out too.

so i will post a snippet from the email, she sent, here followed by a question:.

Everyone has already given you some excellent advice. I would only add that I agree while it is natural to be angry when you realize the lies you've believed your whole life...we all know that we don't respond to anger well, we just get defensive. So you can't talk about things that you get really passionate about...not yet.

By asking her questions, and *gasp* encouraging her to think for herself, she will be able to make her own choice. Yes it is her decision, but you also have every right to try to help her see what it is she really believes. The trick is...to do it in such a way that she actually comes to the decisions on her own. Then you are not tricking or manipulating her like she is used to getting from the borg, even though she doesn't know it yet.

Funerals

i haven't been to a "worldly" funeral...well ever that i can remember.

all the funerals i have been to have been jw ones where they use it as another opportunity to preach to everyone in sight.

they usually make a token mention of the dead loved one and then begin with the resurrection and earthly paradise and how you have to be a jw to get there.. today i went to my aunts funeral.

I'm sorry about your Aunt sweetie. I am glad you were able to get a different perspective on funerals. I've only been to 2 non-JW funerals. Once when I was a kid I went to a relatives funeral, and I remember being so judgemental of everything they said and did, mostly because I was so afraid to be there. The minister did get the deceased's name wrong though...that was pretty tacky.

Then last year I went to a funeral of one of my favorite clients...
and the experience was more like you described it. Everyone shared their memories of this fine lady, the minister gave a very brief prayer and just mentioned her afterlife...that was it...no preaching.
I found it refreshing, and a healthier way to say goodbye to someone and have some closure.

Count me as a definite interested party. The Luxor is my fav place to stay, will check out some prices. Maybe they are all lower now, that would be cool.

You are such a sweetheart. I am appalled at the things that have happened to you. I am also greatly impressed with what you have become. Essie said it well...and you my dear are no diamond in the rough either...brilliantly faceted is more like it.

Please don't let the negatives on the board get to you. Unfortunately
they are everywhere, but have no power over you if you don't let it. Thank you for sharing, by doing that you have unwittingly empowered others...and that is a beautiful thing to come from all your suffering.

Anyone Remember The Chaperone Thing?

back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.

round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.

Well,

The chaperoning thing was alive and well in 1984 when I was dating husband #1. I was the good little pioneer girl, so I was told I should set a "fine example". He was 31 years old, with two little kids, and we even were "talked" to by my uncle the elder for going to the park and stuff with the kids. Then, we were seen going to play racquetball in the middle of the afternoon alone! What sinners we were. When my uncle talked to me about that one...I kinda lost it. I said "Do you honestly think we're going to jump each others' bones in the bright afternoon sun, after playing a vigorous game of racquetball...all sweaty and smelly?" Please. And then I told him I didn't care if that bothered other people...it was their problem, not mine. Well, we managed not to disgrace ourselves and they let us get married in the hall, so I guess we passed the test.

while out for my usual liquid lunch, a cup of new englands finest pee week coffee and a pack of grape bubble yumm..... a thought accured to me.. i'm a die hard avid x-files fan.. i can relate to mulder.

i can definately relate to that busty red head partner of his, scully.. my thought was this..... in the last 10 months of digging into wt stuff and opening my eyes to the wretched viel of hypocrisy i've been lead by all my life..... am i really that much different than mulder?
